  • Obviously you know NOTHING about the whole industry. People think it's all about money it's not. I've met quite a few who ride the horses for the love of the animal. I can go on and on...

  • Im not a crazy animal fanatic ,and im not a vegeterian, but all I have to say is that I hope all you MIDGET JOCKEYS DIE for the way you treat the horses to make yourselves money...

Even if you do have money you still cant change the fact that you look like little elvs from a fairytale-=-- F U!!!!

  • Midget jockeys?

Because 5'2" is totally midget sized.

  • That sucks..came in second and just collapsed. I would hate to be that horse and at the same time I feel so much sympathy. Sucks how horses' legs are so fragile..once they break the only option is to put them to sleep. : (

  • its not they they r fragile, its that now all they look for in breeding is a tell light built horse, and they're legs are becoming less sturdy, secretariat was stockier, he had much sturdier legs which made him so successful

  • my comments are out of order the first is the third then it goes up

  • May God Bless Eight Bells as I saw this happen to my own running mare but I pulled her from the old owners after she colapsed by running her heart out. She lived and is with us today if only I could of done this for Eight Bells. There are a few mares/horese very few who will not fight back no matter how much they are hurting. She was one and a very special mare. I hope the owners have a chance to read this as do Eight Bells trainer. You know it and I know it and you know what you did.

  • He was injured going into the derby. this sport is mean and cruel and for those hundreds of horses who are bred to run and never even make it past Los Alamitos or those who run even in the derby are never heard from again. I do not need to tell anyone where these horses end up.

  • I have seen this time and time again. Horses pushed beyond when they should be.They can be forced to run to their death as I have seen many times before. If it is not a heart issue I would imagine her ankles were bruised or week from the races prior or practice. This is a long race and now to continue the abuse in the name of greed even knowing full well Big Browns feet are bad the owners press on to the Preakness is just two weeks. Barbio was not ready to run again.

  • Ummm, I'm pretty sure that they have vets check the horses before the race and if they found a horse injured, they would be scratched from the race.

Horses before Big Brown have raced in the Preakness after the Kentucky Derby and have been fine. I'm pretty sure she got hurt after the race and was not going full speed, so it was not the jockeys/trainers fault. She must have stumbled and fell the wrong way.

R.I.P Eight Belles. You are with Barbaro in Horsey Heaven in those green meadows now.:)

  • Check the jockeys story it doesnt say that she tripped. It says her anckles snapped.

  • Oh.

Does it say how her ankles snapped?

  • She was unstable and had bruised anckles. when she had finnished the race her anckels gave out and she collapsed. Her jockey stated that she was galloping weird and then she gave out. The vet that attended her said that her bones where protruding out of her skin and that hes never seen anything like it. There was no way to save her sadly :(

  • Ouch. So i'm guessing when Eight Belles raced really hard, it was to much.

But i'm just thinking about how the vets or traner didn't see her bad ankles before the race. Thats sad.

  • Its unfortunate that people are willing to risk lives for fame or money. Alot of racing is blood money. In my opinion two years of horses dyining due to the derby is 2 too many. Another horse from last week is having anckle surgery due to racing

  • Yeah...

I dont have anything against racing, but i hate when they risk the lives of the horses to win by pushing them to their limit.

  • i totally agree

  • no. the jockey says she galloped weird and then she went down. If You see the pica it shows her anckles twisted and turned in

  • ankles

  • RIP Eight Belles ='(

  • I am so sad about Eight Bells. I can just imagine what the press is going say about Hillary Clinton pulling for Eight Bells. They will say something about her being a jinx. Probably some slur to her campaign saying it is a sign of her own longevity in the race. I can see the headline; "Eight Bell's Death Nell Rings For Clinton." Yikes! You just wait....the skewering IS going to happen.

  • i feel bad for eight belles she died and broke both of her ankles

  • The horse on 1:36 was really pretty...

  • I've been dying to see this work of Court Vision's, he was reaching out really well at the finish. His time wasn't amazing, but he went the first eighth in 13 behind a workmate, so he finished well. The track wasn't as fast when he worked as it was for the rest. Thanks so much for posting!

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • colonel john looked fantastic out there!
