Hello from Mexico (I do not speak English, I use Google translator, sorry). I thank you for your videos, they've helped me choose a good microphone in my budget. I decided to Sterling ST55 think I made a good buy. thank you very much
My speakers are crap so I couldn't really hear the difference between this and the blue bluebird in your other review. Which do you like better for acoustic recording?
Ah. Sorry bout that. Posted that comment as soon as you said you were running into the universal preamp, and didn't hear the part about going dry into the tascam. or was it zoom?
Great tone. But in all fairness, you're running that mic into an $800 tube preamp. So... I'd imagine it would be hard to get a bad sound from just about ANY mic going into that preamp.
I am strongly considering this mic, though, and would love some honest opinions on it. Send me a private message, PLEASE, dishing out all the good and bad, no holds barred, on this mic. I'd GREATLY appreciate it.
@JonnyBlaylock1 Wanna know a secret? Groove Tubes makes these microphones. And another thing, a preamp isn't gonna make a mic perform any better, you're just gonna get the best possible sound out of the mic. Pre's add a world of difference sometimes, but in this application it shouldn't make a huge difference.
basically for the money you will be hard pressed to find a better sounding mic. it is very solid and honestly I've used it for a good many recording so far and found that it accurately captures the sound you are feeding it. If you like the sound your guitar or amp is making, this mic will get that sound into your system wonderfully.
Be warned this mic can and will pick up room noise. so turn off fans. or just play very loudly and cut the gain a bit.
