Even if booms had been deployed on day one, it would have made little difference. The amount of oil spilled, combined with high seas, makes containing the spill about as easy as holding smoke in your hands.

On Day 1, there was no need for oil booms - BP expected the BOP to have worked and did not expect to contain a lot of oil.

On Day 1, why would there have been a need to commandeer ships? This is crazy talk.
