The Cobalt SS is not modded lol....it's my friends cobalt. Completely stock Cobalt. Poor tune on the STi which is why it didn't do well in this race.

you said any car and america could beat it for cheaper. 05 350z runs for about 30,000 new i think and 40 was the track edition. there is not one american car that is cheaper/same price that can beat it.
@kloozyful in 05 the cobalt ss supercharged ran right with it for 23k the mustang gt for 26k runs 13s in o5 while the 350z ran mid to low 14s....pontiac gto in 05 would definitly beat it..

oh yeah i know that, basically the major flaw of the car is FWD. But you can throw down 3-400 dollars and gain another 50-80 WHP just with a tune lol. cheap speed, gotta love it.
i have a coblat ss/sc with a performance clutch a b&m short throw shifter, i raced a sti literally last night with a broken roll pin and still kept up with the sti so evo it really depends on the driver and the shifting time to decide which car with win you cant base it all on specs.
just like to point out 16psi is a stock turbo on an sti... idk if thats to much for the cobalt owners to comprehend but u can run 21.5 on an sti with a stock turbo easy. Nice job flagging that earlier comment but with a better launch the sti would have been in another state...

The Cobalt SS TC is a honey for the money i have hit 140 mph in mine in Vermont on seven north in the pouring rain and it was fun paid $15,000 with 6k miles cant find a WRX or Evo on that budget

I've got a friend with a cobalt ss and they do run good for the money but it's always some turd with a pulley that can't drive and a justin bieber haircut tryin to get ME to race. @bergaflickal a cobalt lasting 250000 miles! your crazy! no offense. my mom had a 2008 cobalt and already had a list of recalls on them. and on top of that she had a leak in the transmission. after about a year of that car we traded it in for a focus. SOO much better. after a problem like that from chevy it kind of makes you not want to buy from them again.

He sold it only 3 month after buying it and it was brand NEW at the time. And no my friend is not the type of guy that is always hitting the redline at every corner... @GrandYeuxDeChouette As you can probably tell from my youtube name I own a 08 Cobalt SS and have for two years with no trouble at all. All cars aren't perfect. My buddies dad bought a tacoma which you would think would last forever well it lasted about 5 months before the entire frame was so rusted it was dangerous to drive. My other friend went through three brand new 370Z before he got one that lasted a month. So just because he got a bad Cobalt doesn't mean they are all bad.

i was only running right above stock boost, because i was currently running at wastegate pressure.

and no one cares if your cobalt has a trifecta tune that doesnt cost much. sti's can also get an opensource tune for that cheap, then the sti would be ahead. stock for stock these cars are pretty even.
@nightwolf713 stock for stock they are pretty even, but the cobalt ss has the edge in a straight line and around a track, but not off the line...
tune only the ss will beat a stage 2 sti. with downpipe, intake and a tune they put down up to 340 whp and 405 wtq @2900 lbs on a dyno jet. i know these are ridiculous numbers but look up trifecta tuning, they provide that tune.
and im not a cobalt fan boy, i drive an evo x. but i give credit where its due and these cars are nasty with a tune.
@aajaro that's odd.. i know some guys with trifecta tunes boosting.. what sti's would boost on race gas or e85 (24-26 psi) pushing 300whp, 350 tq on dynojets.
trifecta offers a tune for a larger garrett package, that hits around those numbers.
i would say stage two they are still pretty similar. w/ an sti running at 20psi vs cobalt 24psi. either way.. all forced induction cars make stupid power with slightest boltons.
@nightwolf713 every dyno is different, i've seen some low 300s especially with no bolt ons, does this guy you know have a down pipe? what gives these cars such a huge advantage is the weight, 2900 lbs is atleast 300-400 lbs lighter than an sti with only about 8-10 % loss
I Am a fan of subaru but im not going to rip on the cobalt ss (Unlike some other R-Tard) because there a decent car. What i will say is that whoever tuned the engine in the Sub, is a fucking retard and should be executed.

my friend had a cobalt ss, its quick, but it kept breaking down, too many reliability issues, whats good about Subaru is they build rock solid cars that last for a long time. Also Subaru's hold their value much better. GM needs to do their homework if they want to build good fast 4cyl cars.

@evokiller691 I have raced two STI's at the track. (03' and 08') in my Cobalt SS/TC.. Beat them both by several car lengths, and I only have about $1,700 in mods. I don't know what their mods were besides exhaust. Considering that the STI is about $10,000+ more than a Cobalt SS, I'd say thats pretty good. Stock for stock the STI is only a hair quicker - A 2010 STI runs 13.4 stock, I ran a 13.8 stock. AWD does rock though, my next car is probably and STI.

I've got a friend with a cobalt ss and they do run good for the money but it's always some turd with a pulley that can't drive and a justin bieber haircut tryin to get ME to race. I could care less what you have as long as you give props where their due and appreciate what cars are for. I'm not an STI guy or an evo guy....I'm a car guy.

@bergaflickal a cobalt lasting 250000 miles! your crazy! no offense. my mom had a 2008 cobalt and already had a list of recalls on them. and on top of that she had a leak in the transmission. after about a year of that car we traded it in for a focus. SOO much better. after a problem like that from chevy it kind of makes you not want to buy from them again.

My dad has the 2009 ford ranger sport 4X4 that thing is pretty fast. He also has dual exhaust so it sounds like a V8. we call it the RED RACING RANGER. lol

He sold it only 3 month after buying it and it was brand NEW at the time. And no my friend is not the type of guy that is always hitting the redline at every corner... He did like me and went With a nice mustang no problem since then !!!!!

@GrandYeuxDeChouette As you can probably tell from my youtube name I own a 08 Cobalt SS and have for two years with no trouble at all. All cars aren't perfect. My buddies dad bought a tacoma which you would think would last forever well it lasted about 5 months before the entire frame was so rusted it was dangerous to drive. My other friend went through three brand new 370Z before he got one that lasted a month. So just because he got a bad Cobalt doesn't mean they are all bad.

i was only running right above stock boost, because i was currently running at wastegate pressure.
i hate people talking shit on different cars lol.
and fan boys of certain cars. i don't care if i barely pulled him back then.. i was on wastegate boost pressure ( i usually ran it at 20psi).
and no one cares if your cobalt has a trifecta tune that doesnt cost much. sti's can also get an opensource tune for that cheap, then the sti would be ahead. stock for stock these cars are pretty even.

tune only the ss will beat a stage 2 sti. with downpipe, intake and a tune they put down up to 340 whp and 405 wtq @2900 lbs on a dyno jet. i know these are ridiculous numbers but look up trifecta tuning, they provide that tune.
and im not a cobalt fan boy, i drive an evo x. but i give credit where its due and these cars are nasty with a tune.

@aajaro that's odd.. i know some guys with trifecta tunes boosting.. what sti's would boost on race gas or e85 (24-26 psi) pushing 300whp, 350 tq on dynojets.
trifecta offers a tune for a larger garrett package, that hits around those numbers.
i would say stage two they are still pretty similar. w/ an sti running at 20psi vs cobalt 24psi. either way.. all forced induction cars make stupid power with slightest boltons.

I don't know what pisses people off more....The fact that it can push 320whp and 350 trq with less than $2,000 in mods and a good tune or the fact that out of the box it's capable of 13.5 1/4 mile times and 0.92 g's on the skidpad for less than $30,000 Canadian and less than $24,000 American. the sti in the vid is my car. hahah and to the people talking shit, sti's come stock with 14.5 psi, and are protuned at stage 2 from 18-22 psi, on their stock turbo, i was running 16 psi due to minor leaks.

my friend had a cobalt ss, its quick, but it kept breaking down, too many reliability issues, whats good about Subaru is they build rock solid cars that last for a long time. Also Subaru's hold their value much better. GM needs to do their homework if they want to build good fast 4cyl cars.

@evokiller691 I have raced two STI's at the track. (03' and 08') in my Cobalt SS/TC.. Beat them both by several car lengths, and I only have about $1,700 in mods. I don't know what their mods were besides exhaust. Considering that the STI is about $10,000+ more than a Cobalt SS, I'd say thats pretty good. Stock for stock the STI is only a hair quicker - A 2010 STI runs 13.4 stock, I ran a 13.8 stock. AWD does rock though, my next car is probably and STI.
