HOWEVER the theme for tazmily after 3 years is a remixed version of the correct love theme. it's a shame they didnt include the normal love theme in brawl though. i prefer the main theme to this one.

@NightTide9 they needed something spooky and I agree Sunset cemetery or Oshoe Castle in sunspace would have been amazing but they couldn't have cut scenes for each character and because Nintendo hates mother fans they just threw Ness and Lucas together and needed a mother stage that was recognizable but from neither mother 2 or 3 to keep it neutral. So the abandoned zoo was what they chose.

Brawl sort of threw ideas into an unstable melting pot called the Subspace Emissary without much concern for properly representing characters. In Lucas' case, I can imagine seeing a the scene where he is by himself at a certain grave at an edge of a cliff that overlooks the horizon, praying and then wiping his tears off, turning away from it and walking away. Then maybe he would be attacked at the graveyard, or even Oshoe Castle. The Ruined Zoo was confusing since it's from Mother 1...

I think this game portrayed Lucas unfairly because while he was a very frail boy and cried a lot in the beginning, the harsh situations that spanned throughout his years have shaped him into a very strong and brave kid. And because Mother 3 was never released outside of Japan, players are unaware of Lucas's life. Ness doesn't even have a personality; he's just a blank slate. If you put Ness into Lucas's shoes, you'd have the same crybaby. I don't know how anyone can like Ness more than Lucas.

The Lucas they showed was more like the helpless child at the beginning of game, not the strong young man toughened by a life of hardship, but he was clearly supposed to be the older Lucas.

This portrayal made it look like he'd learned nothing from his ordeal.

He sees the best in others (which is why he tolerated Pokey), He's brave. he's the main protagonist in one of my favorite games. he's my favorite to play as in ssb. His "okay" taunt. His weapons are yoyos and baseball bats.

The only defining characteristic of Ness is that he was known as being notoriously brave (he's just a heroic archetype, really) while Lucas was pointed out as always being a sensative child. Instead of bravery, his strength comes from love. Specifically, the love of his mother and for his brother.

Buuut, none of that is explained in Super Smash Bros Brawl, where Americans just see his pitiful side.

I don't want to shift others' opinions, especially for being biased since not having played the game yet, but what Lucas goes through seems selfish.. he seems filled with discontent and sadness, with that I can sympathize, but it can always be overcome. Perhaps that is what happened in the story, but I am doubtful of a proper translation to an unreleased game..
