  • Love this song, love Emma so much even 2 decades after first hearing her with Lush. She's one of my favorite lyricists. I taught the lyrics to this song to my Creative Writing class, at first without the music, wedged in among other modern poetry. They were stunned when I played the song. That's how slick her pen is.

  • @derand57 You must be an epic teacher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would love to have you!!

No one in my school knows of Lush/Emma let alone a teacher!!!!

  • @mohawkid Well, it was at the University level, so I thought maybe *someone* would recognize it, but they really ate up the assignment. All I had to do was cast the lines of the song so that the rhyme scheme wasn't as apparent, and they ate it up. A lot of Emma's writing, like this song, shares features with modern American poetry: specific imagery, a distinct persona, murky references to a personal history outside of the poem's text, a tight sound structure. Fooled a class of undergrads!

  • @derand57 That is so awesome, I think I'll analyze their lyrics a tad more carefully with that idea in mind :D

  • I'm glad I've already got this on iTunes.

  • good band, good sound:)
