  • Thanks good video. I need to replaced the hamer spring on my dad's 1100, he left it cocked for years and the spring is weak...

  • Thanks for the video very informative!

  • If you go to the blog on my website there is an article that has modified instructions for an 1100 Tac 4 model (2010/2011 model year). There is an "s" lever of sorts inside the receiver that needs to be pushed down to pull out the bolt assembly.

  • Any chance you want to make a video on replacing the magazine and action springs? Liked this video and it really helped a lot.

  • Very helpful and concise. Thank you. I also was confused at the point of removing the "operating handle" Requires more force than I thought.

  • what year is yours i have one just like it

  • great video

  • Great... I had an additional part come out, the shell retainer bar/spring. Made reinstalling the trigger assembly a bit more tricky. Had to put the front of the trigger assembly in first, then stick a small screwdriver though the left side of the large pin hole, push the retainer bar down on the other side, and then slide the back of the trigger assembly down. Seems to cycle manually fine so I think I got it... just hope it fires correctly this Saturday for quail.

  • very helpful Thank You!!!

  • downward like a you upward like an n? 7:53

  • That hammer was to funny lol :)

  • were can i get rings i have a 1969 1100 thats been passed down and i want to get it working agian

  • @beathapxboxlive the internet seems the easiest, i got a pack of 5 from ebay a long time ago, still using the first one.

  • can you put a choke on the end of the barrel?

  • @mamanettie all chokes go inside the end of the barrel, some screw in and can be removed and changed to different sizes, mine, and most of the older 1100's have fixed chokes that are permanent and cannot be removed, i believe the new Remingtons now have removable chokes though.

  • Can you please tell me the dimension of that viton o-ring... btw great video.

  • your a fagot

  • i just want an opinion, do you thing i should keep my Remington 1100 the stock form with the 28' barrel and the original wood stocks, or upgrade it with synthetic stock and tube extension and things like that.

  • @PadooBoy274 it all depends on what you will be using the gun for, or just what you personally like.

since this 1100 is my trap shooting gun, i went with the monte carlo stock and synthetic because its easy to clean and you won't ruin it with chemicals like you can with wood.

  • this has been very helpful thank you for taking the time to do this video, and i hope to see more soon, lol and nice hammer ,but thanks again, this is the first shotgun i have ever owned and it is nice to have the right info to do thing right.

so keep up the good work

  • when i put that U/N T bar lookin thing in, it slid into place, and then it got stuck to a point where i have no clue how to get it out. its resting on the bottom of the firing pin type mechanism help asap if you cn

  • @BFTmanable it should lift up and then you can twist it for removal. remember to squeeze the 'legs' together and insert them into the circular socket at the rear of the receiver when installing.

  • how do i take out the plastic spacer in the magazine tube because mine is only holding 2 and one in the chamber. mines a 20 gaug

  • @russianradical take the barrel and forearm off then remove the cap thats on the inside of the mag tube where the threads are...be careful cuz the spring will fly everywhere if you dont watch....the the plug will come out and then just replace the spring with the cap

  • Thanks for the guide Mike. It helped. I discovered with my gun that some of the cutouts inside the receiver are terribly sharp.

  • thanks. now i need to figure out why the 20 guage shells keep getting jammed (or just flat out wont load)

  • @peptopro17 check the hairpin spring in the load assist coming from the mag tube

  • Awesome instructions!

  • any tips on getting the extractor arm back in?

  • Comment removed

  • Hey when I took my trigger out I cleaned it and when to put it back in and i put the big pin back in but the little one wouldnt go all the way, I look at the problem and and a sliding bar with a hole in it where the pin would go was in the way i slid it down and then it fell out and I cant seem to get it back in. Help ?

  • @USAamericaUSA

I am not sure exactly what you mean, i can't think of anything that would be in the way of the pin, sorry

    maybe another commenter can help

  • @USAamericaUSA I got it fixd but then after cleaning i put the O ring and the other 2 metal rings back on the O ring seemed a little to big for its groove well I ignored it and put it all back together. I checked it by running the bolt and all seemed fine. For kicks I re opened it and the o ring and 2 metal rings were gone. They happened to be lodged in the metal piece under the barrel that has the gas ports in it. Well. Now it keeps doing that and Im afraid to shoot it now and goin huntin 2moro

  • @USAamericaUSA the rings might be a little tight in the cylinder, that's probably ok, (as long as there not frozen in there), make sure it lubricated, check for burrs or anything in the cylinder,

it should still be safe to shoot though.

  • @USAamericaUSA My skeet gun does that. You will need to take it to a gunsmith to get that piece reattached.(don't know the name, It stops all of the shells coming out of the magazine). Should be easy and cheap! You can get it back in but it is pretty tricky.

  • what about the barrel?

  • thanks for your help know its really easy to clean. THANKS

  • Thanks very helpful. But I tried looking for a #21 O-ring at my local hardware store, and it was about 1/2 inch wide. In fact the #33 fit perfectly. Why is that? I'm in Atlanta Georgia, are we using a different system here?

  • Thanks for the vid man. Cleaning someone's old model 1100 and didn't know much about them. Good job, little fuzzy quality but pretty good all and all.

  • Haha if you want simple get the 870 XD

  • take out the trigger, and push the feed latch sideways into the receiver. The bolt will slide right out.

  • take out the trigger, and push the feed latch sideways into the receiver. The bolt will slide right out.

  • when im trying to get the bolt out, I puch up on the gate all the way, then push in the tube spring about an inch. But the bolt will not come out at all. What am i doing wrong? Does it have to be cocked? Or uncocked? It will not budge.

  • Thank you so much. We had no clue where to begin with my buddy's father's gun that he was just given. We would have been here 3-5 days trying to figure it out with the manual. It was shooting like S**** before...with your video and our solvent/oil it's like brand new. Thanks again.

  • Might be dumb question but what is a O-Ring for

  • @ItzTzan

The o ring seals the forward end of the cylinder so that the gasses will push the carrier back and cycle the gun. You can still fire the gun without the o ring, it will just be single shot

  • @BodybuildingMike single shot meaning? like jamming or??? (just curious)

  • @nuckdukem1290

if you leave the oring out, the gun will not cycle, so it will behave like a single shot

  • Folding stock for 1100

  • So the action spring tube within the stock is removable?

  • @kikayei

the stock removes around the spring tube, i'm not sure the the tube can be removed from the receiver, but the spring can be removed from it.

  • Hi. Can a put on a top folding stock on an 1100? Thanks.

  • @kikayei not here in CA, lol

but yes they do make folding stocks for the 1100

  • thank you very much just got my gun cut down and it fits me nice thanks agen

  • First of i rilly need to know what happendes when i take the but off the gun because part of the resever is in there and i dont want to mess it up but i have to have my dad cut it down to fit me more and second you kinda go over bored with the cleeningg no ofence and thaks 4 the video reply soon kohlwenger

  • @kohlwenger

remove the 2 screws that hold on the butt plate, inside you will see a big metal cylinder with a slot, use a very large screwdriver, or chisel and vicegrips, to unscrew it, the butt stock can now be removed.

don't worry about any springs flying out or anything, the spring is contained in a long tube that the stock slides over.

-lol, yes i am very anal about cleaning my guns - i do overclean them.

  • Super-useful video, many many thanks for doing this. I just bought an old 20-gauge skeet model 1100 and now I'm getting it running. Waiting for my #19 O-ring to arrive; that will take several days but no worries as it will take about that long to clean out the gunk!! Whoever owned this thing shot it a LOT and cleaned it NEVER.....

  • i have multiple questions about my shotgun...i believe my shotgun is an 1100 but im not positive, where does it say what model it is? and on my stock nut there is a circle that spins has 3 H's and 3 L's that i have no clue what they mean? last question..i was shooting skeet the other day and i was shooting multiple targets so i put 3 shells in, i shot the first skeet and the gun didnt eject the empty cartrige i dont have a clue what to do about it. any suggestions? thanks.

  • @elanlover94

it should be stamped on the receiver and/or the barrel near the receiver.

not sure about the stock nut or the H's and L's.

if the shell didnt eject, you should manualy cycle the gun to eject it.

you can also remove shells in the tube with the bolt closed by pressing up the feed latch, pushing the shell retention latch to the side and the shells will come out under spring pressure.

  • @elanlover94 Your 1100 is a magnum because what you were shooting was probably 2 and three quarter inch not three inch magnum. It will only cycle 2 3\4 inch 5 shot. if you want it to cycle 2 3\4 take it to a gunsmith and get the gas port drilled out.

  • Fancy hammer!! Match my daughter's backpack.

  • Oh, dang! That barrel just came right awn outta there. I'm in love

  • I am able to disassemble my winchester 1300 defender in less then 2 minutes and reassemble in 5 but this looks a lot more complicated then my winchester. but the remington 1100 is my dad's so i really don't want to ruin it because its sort of a show gun

  • lol, nice hammer

  • @shrug123 lol my dad has a Remington 1100 he got in '76

  • Nice Hammer! lol

  • Thank you for this; you did a brilliant job! I have an old ('75 vintage or so) 1100LW that had never been properly disassembled and cleaned. Now it's like new.

  • cool hammer

  • Great vid! my bro has an 11-87 sportsman that needs to be busted down and cleaned... are there significant differences in breakdown/reassembly between the 1100 and 1187? Thanks!!

  • @Thewestcoastshooter

i dont beleive there are any significant differences

  • @BodybuildingMike Cool! thanks!

  • awsume ty for the help i thought it was going to be real pain but was easy as pie ty for the help i have 20 ga and 12 help out lots

  • I'm not finding any o-rings classified by a #19 or #21 online (E-bay turns up only 21mm rings of varying thickness), but thanks anyways for the reply.

  • I can't find anywhere online that Viton refers to a #21 o-ring. Could you provide more specific information? My local hardware Stores have nothing by that number. Perhaps a URL or a part number? Thx.

  • @Fredjoe5

viton is a material, so the brands will vary, but the sizes should be standard. if you cant find them locally, they usually have them on ebay for good prices as well.

  • Does your girlfriend know you have her hammer?

    Thanks for the walkthrough!

  • how do you take out the magazine spring?

  • @kyadak

at the end of the tube, where the barrel nut was, there is a metal disc that covers the tube, with some pliers, carefully pull it out, the spring and follower will come out.

  • 100 rounds! Your shoulder has got to be killing you! If they were max loads you would be black and blue.

  • @TucsonCPA you've clearly not shot the 1100. It's a soft shooter, no way you could be black and blue. Shoot 125 last night with 0 issues

  • I was told that the reason my 1100 3 inch mag fires mags with no problem, however when I try to fire 2 and 3/4 inch, they jamb is because the action needs to be re shimmed for 2 3/4". Does anyone know about this?

  • Nice vid. Very helpful.

1100's are one of the best shotguns in the world, in my opinion.

  • Thanks for posting! You just saved me so much time!

  • nice job! Thanks

  • Man thanks so much for posting this video. I just bought an 1100 from a pawn shop and was having a little trouble taking it apart to clean it but this video and your others helped a ton.

  • Mike, thanks for the tip on the Viton o-rings. The local vendor only had the #19 in bags of 50, but was less than what the local gun shop wanted for ONE o-ring. So if anyone needs a 20ga #19 Viton o-ring, I got 'em. Let me know.

  • amazing! love it ;-)

  • @4:40ish part I cant seem to get it to come out is there something im doing wrong?

  • what would be the o-ring size for the gauge version of this gun?

  • which gauge?

    the ones i know are:

    12 gauge is #21

    20 gauge is #19

  • sorry sometimes i don't pay attention to what i'm doing. lo. I meant to say 20 so thanks!!

  • Great vid man!

I have an old 1100 "Skeet B", it is a joy to shoot this gun.

Now that I can clean it thoroughly, I feel comfortable shooting it in volume!

Thanks for this great disassembly guide!!!

  • did that have a wood stock

  • no it has synthetic stocks

  • hay i cant get my bolt handel out any

advice would be of great help

  • should come right out if you pull straight away.

maybe put a little oil on it. but its only held in with a detent ball

  • nope aint workin must be jamed put some oil on it to

  • would be kewl if you had an extended tube mag

  • well that would be cool on a short barrel pump used for defense, but this is a trap gun, so i only have one shell in at a time (2 for doubles), so it would just add weight (and laughter at the trap range : )

  • oic, well i want me one too, but imma get mine for home defense

  • I have an 1100 LT-20 that is tricked out for 3-gun matches... 8rd extended mag, red dot reflex sight, speed-feed stock and tactical sling & bolt handle. It's also my primary 'homeland defense' weapon. I used it once at a sporting clays and did in fact got laughed at! :-)

  • I just got back from shooting at a local gravle pit, a reason it stove pipe jams is if you use low brass shells, pay the extra 3 dollars and get the better shells

  • i couldn't have disassembled my 1100 without this vid!

    great additional info as well!

  • Thanks for the video. My 1100 kept stove-piping and jamming and I found out why. The channel slide underneath the bolt had years of hard caked gunk build-up that caused it to slow down just enough to malfunction. Blasted it with gun scrubber and toothbrush, oiled it and I have fired 300 rounds with no problems. You did the gun community a justice with your video. By the way guys, Remington recommends a dry lube instead of oil on all parts except trigger pistons and the two bolt carrier arms.

  • Great Job Man! My gun ran like crap today but I feel good about tomorrow after following your lessons.

    Thanks.

  • cool hammer, & nice vid 5/5

  • You know your weapons sir.

But with anything it takes time to learn on how to do this kind of stuff.

  • great information!! thanks

  • Thanks for responding so quickly. Truly appreciated.

  • hi Mike excellent video, really helped me.Thanks! You wouldn't happen to know the correct size viton o-ring a 20 ga. uses?

  • 12 gauge is #21 and

    20 gauge is #19

make sure you get some made out of Viton

ebay usually has a 6 pack for only a couple bucks.

  • thanks alot for this video, I personally get sick of the looney sperm brains that post these running around and shooting videos, thanks for posting something useful and informative. Very good video.

  • good video, i have an 11-87 which is very similar to the 1100 and i wish i had found this video when i first got it, took me a while to figure out how to get the bolt setup to come out.

  • thanks for making this, it helped me alot!

  • thank you for your awsome video,

    Elie, Tampa, florida

  • i'm a brazilian Trap shooter very glad to have found your video!!! Thanks

  • Best video I have seen on the 1100 - Thank you very much,

    Richard,

    London, England.

  • lovin' the hammer

  • thanks for making the video,

an hour of frustration trying to do it myself compared to 15 min. with this

  • do you shoot trap becuase there you have a shell catch. if you do do you shoot with a high school team

  • I do shoot trap, but i didn't shoot in high school, nor did my highschool have anything like a trap club. I wish i had gotten involved earlier though!

  • Thanks, I appreciate the video.

  • this video was also very helpful, i had the same problem as you, the guy I bought it from had never cleaned it, and it still had factory goop from the 1990's !

  • Thanks for making this video, very helpful to me.
