great playing. do you warm your hands up with stretching and massaging certain areas of the arms. i find that to be useful since i started to relearn the guitar on an 8
@3energizer3 You choose to say something like that on the channel of a band whose music doesn't actually have much real "shred" in it at all? Some people do decide the strangest things...
Yeah, just like doing leg presses has nothing to do with being a good soccer player. Building technique gives you a lot more options for writing music. Please, don't talk about something that you're ignorant of as if you know what you're talking about. It only makes you look foolish.
yeah i'm on the same road as you, i just graduated highschool and have been playing for 5 years, i've been taking private lessons and now am attending a community college to study music theory etc. i really wish i could go to MI though, that would be sick.
@earlbrown33 Houston Community College, Berklee and Musicians Institute, over 7 years of private lessons, and countless hours teaching myself stuff off the internet, videos, and books.
@earlbrown33 countless hours in my bedroom practicing. i did a lot of school as well, which helped to lead me in the right direction. dedicate the time and you will get where you want to be for sure! I still feel I have a long way to go, to get where I want to be.
@moses132049 For a high G you only need very thin strings. If you desire to tune any higher then that you will need either a shorter scale length or strings from octave4plus. However, octave4plus doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to making a long lasting string. It will tune to a high A or even a high B but it's very fragile and will be easy to break.
honestly you have inspired me as a guitarist so much, i have been working so hard to get to the point where i can learn some of your guys stuff, almost there :D
haha and as any fan child should say COME TO NORCAL
I used hundreds of exercises to work on picking. I'm actually releasing a Guitar Technique Book this Jan which has a ton of picking exercises for all techniques. Very excited about it, in case you are interested. -Chris
its like hes adding 1 low and 1 high string to the standard 6 guitar, not like the standard 8 string tuned in 4ths adding 2 extra basses like F#BEADGBE rigth?
Chris, what did you practice technique-wise when you were developing your chops, and is there any kind of guitar book, video or anything you can recommend that would help with chops-building?
classical technique, playing on the finger tips and using the least amount strain when playing. as for books and videos I studied with a private instructor and then did many years of college.
awesome work, seeing you guys live in columbia md was motivating. Just wondering, do you have a pick preferance? how long have you been playing guitar?
i just saw you guys in atlanta for pn09, i was right in front of you, and man, you guys, plus the rest of the show, really inspired me to improve my chops and challenge myself to be better

Sure....blah blah blah...
Is this correct?
3energizer3 1 year ago
@3energizer3 You're exactly right, good Sir. Pure speed does not make one a talented songwriter/accomplished musician.
That being said, Chris Letchford is both a fantastic "shredder" and songwriter. This clip wasn't meant to showcase musical expression - it's a scale.
If you're interested in hearing musical compositions of such grandeur, may I recommend some Scale the fucking Summit?

ok so a have a bunch of questions for you haha. how much was that guitar? how is the action/playability? does it make sweeping more difficult?
brandon2784 2 years ago
I dont share what I pay for my guitars.
Its an amazing guitar, having the extra strings just makes it more work to keep other strings quiet while sweeping, or playing anything really.
