This is the greatest thing that I have ever found through random Googling. Sure, a person couldn't get a free degree this way. But someone who has perhaps been out of school for a while, in the workforce (unhappily) for a while, and who is interested in improving themselves, keeping their knowledge current and relevant or preparing for entering or returning to college could really find that this could be a great tool. I'm definitely going to spread this around.
I typed "coolest thing on the net" into google when i was bored and this came up what great info I'm impressed education for all not just the rich, what a great post KNOWLEDGE IS POWER and thats what you are spreading power its interesting top see now what will hold ppl back , mmm more Tv and internet anyone
I agree, probably is one the the greatest things on the net. I've been out of school for a couple of months waiting to go to college, and I've been going through a few of these courses to keep me sane :D NOt exactly learning everything, but learning something is better than nothing. Its great that anyone can access this info, brings to reality the true meaning of free education :D
Thank you, this is simply brilliant. I'm a information buff so this gives me an endless amount to read, study, and most of all learn. Again, Thanks. :]
I've never heard of this resource. This is interesting. I went to the website; this looks great. I will be checking this out. Thank you for sharing this valuable information with us.

this was crap, i wish i could have my 5m47s of life back.i did go to the web site, it was rubbish and the downloads were rubbish, all i got was a milion and 1 folders and files-waste of my time. i cannot believe everybody is kissing this vid and the site, it is balls. you lot annoy me!
I love MIT & love the concept of OCW, but I think mb4488 is right. I accessed the MIT OCW site shortly after its inception, & was a bit disappointed. More recently, I accessed the site again, expecting things to be vastly different, given the many years that had passed. They weren't - not as far as I could tell, at least. Most courses do not make their lectures available in either audio or video. Some (or perhaps most) that do, only make a subset of the lectures available. So what gives??
What language do you suggest? My father's thrid language was English. Just what are you suggesting? That a person in Germany and a person in the UK should speak some other language? Not all Americans are monolingual speakers if that is what you are inferring.
Seems to me that you're the one that's not listening. We're talking apples and oranges here. Why not do a vlog and speak your mind on the issue you bring up.
How is this different from a public library? Virtually all of the content for virtually any college courses is available from a library. So, how is the MIT Open Courseware project any different?
The public libraries were the most most significant development of the 20th century, for the advancement of education. In my opinion, the internet, and projects like MIT OCW, will play that role in the 21st century. The difference is the ability of the computer to store, edit, search and access the data in a far more powerful way.
Someone asked to define Human, what does it mean? This is my answer, you, a human who loves to help educate other humans without wanting anything in return. Thank you for helping. For sure I would love to learn and will check out the link.
YOU are such a sweet guy, you think for others, You are a rare breed my friend, and have a way with words and vids to get a message over big THANK YOU to YOU for being YOU
This is especialy usefull for those out there that plan on an MIT education. It'll make passing easy, if you take a "sneak peak". Even without plans like that, knowledge is something nobody can take away from you.
Wouldn't it be wonderfull if the best courses in the nation were available on-line and anyone who could pass a low cost competancy test on the course could recieve credit at their local community college or state university?
Hey RR, Thanks for sharing this information! You really don't know how much you have helped me by posting this Vlog, just let me say it is alot. Thanks!
Your right, that might be the coolest thing on the web. Thanks so much for sharing this. I have just enrolled in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science!
I've known about it for awhile and have mentioned it before in vids, but thought it was important enough to deserve more attention. Thanks for watching!
Hello Tony, thanks for sending the video about the info. I never really thought about it before, heck I didn't even know about it. So thanks for the tip. :)
Hey, Tony, I've been watching MIT's effort for over a year. I think it's a long way from where I'd like to see it, but it's a good start.
I haven't seen much progress yet on video lectures or laboratory exercises. Most of the textbooks aren't available on-line either.
The hardest thing is, you're on your own. If you have a question, you have to answer it yourself. We need a mechanism, I think, for "world students" to connect with and help each other, by class.
Thank you Tony. I really appreciate your efforts in getting the word out about education opportunities. I'll have a look and give you some feedback later.
I just added a link in the description above. There is also an icon on the left middle of the MIT OCW main page that says OCW Consortium. Click on that...
Thanks!
