They were putting pickups on jazz-boxes long before the 1950s. Charlie Christian was playing a Gibson ES-150 (with a pickup) in the 1930s!

I thought Charlie Christian played a es-150 back in the late 30's, no? Love the playing, sounds like the record level is a bit high maybe.
