  • Third:

If you were educated, then you read news and know that funding of this program is closed.

Because, defence from this Laser system is so cheep :D

Remember forever-He does not have strike force.Only heat!!

And taxes, which support those who have war industry!!

  • Iran has no chance,heheheh

    victorious United States and Israel

  • could it be possible if the ABL may shoot down our own missle?

  • wery well story for mega idiots, get more tax.

only forgot to mention that -the laser beam, can not pass through fog, smoke, dust...

    and-reflected from a mirror surface:D

  • @ozas80 Really? Ya seen much fog at 100,000 feet lately? Ya seen any shiny and chromed missiles yet? Russian disco ball missiles, I like that!

  • @sakoshooter48

    First off:

If you were erudite, then you know the Laser beam does not smite the target, but heated shell. It takes time.

While you heat the shell, possible innumerable way, raise disturbance. It's the same,as every rocket have Penetration aid and Decoy ;)

    Second:

Laser beam, range of operation,is limited.Air defence system, operating range much more as range of Laser. Air defence system, first take down your Laser, with plane ;)

  • @ozas80 Its already shot down missiles at over 450 miles! Do you have anything of value to add? It cracks me up that you think we are so stupid! Shit, our THEL lasers in Iraq and Afghanistan blow mortars and Katyushas out of the sky all of the time. Get with program there comrade! Which one of your vaunted planes is ever going to get close to an airborne laser. Fucking thing will fry it and any others in the flight to a crisp! You really must think that we are just fucking around over here!

  • @sakoshooter48

Thanks to show as,your education!! :D

How many time I can repeat you:he does not have strike force.Only heat!!?He never shot down! :D

    First off:

This is not fighting laser but lab.He not took part in the war!

    Second:

Largest distance,in testing time, between the 747-400F aircraft and the target to about 100 miles (read such Reuters)

  • @ozas80 Ozas, you haven't the foggiest idea what you are babbling on about! The airborne laser platform is no longer a test article. The first one is operational, with three more airframes being readied! Not sure where you get your "information" from but you need to just be quiet. Erudite, where the fuck did you find this doozie of a word? My God, I laughed for fifteen minutes at your use of the word. My education is just fine thank you very much. Maybe you are the one who needs a refund!

  • @sakoshooter48

Public decide - the King are nude !? :D

    Thanks for attention!

  • @sakoshooter48

About:"you think we are so stupid"-I think, personally you,are not adequate, well-educated.Not all others civilized people.

About Iraq and Afghanistan:you are right. As only you (Not all others civilized and adequate people) can fight against those who armed with sticks,as cowards.Strengths you did not attack.

  • @sakoshooter48

About : "going to get close to an airborne laser"

The Soviet Union also developed laser weapons airborne. And also without some shocking results - a program in which a laser set up on the IL-76 by early 1990 curtailed, though at first she and ahead of American. Laser weapons were considered too expensive, unreliable and capricious. search-Beriev A-60

    Youtube - ?v=pKdA5SkItww

    USA clone it.

  • @sakoshooter48

search Google - Soviet laser tank 1K17 If you know how to use Google :D

Program was started in 1980, of Soviet Union.Which was shut down because it is not

    promising.

In a series of drawings of the latest models of equipment of the Soviet

Army, submitted to Congress for "knocking out" the additional funds the U.S. Defense Department.:D

  • proof by animation.

  • And a constant vigilance is needed to be able to react in time. But they will complicate the measures needed to react to take longer to make a decision than it will take the missile to find its target. Therefore all technology will be sabotaged by the governmental process. I love the smell of ignorance in the morning covered with education.

  • "Let's just take a step back. No, I was wrong, I'm sorry, take a step forward. Now, take a step back. Step forward. Back. And then we're cha-cha-ing!"

For their next trick Boeing is going to lase a house full of popcorn seeds.

  • I almost forgot...BYOB.

  • Lock phasers and deploy proton torpedoes!!!!

  • This video has a Godzilla-esque feeling..

  • If they are just releasing this promo video, you can bet the farm that this technology has been perfected and already used on the battlefield.

  • Actually, not quite yet. The YAL-1 has only shot down it's older "sister", in a test fight; it has yet to shoot down a fully operational test missile. I wonder if the government will allow Boeing to "export" the ABL to other countries.

  • Uh-huh, and this is the information the public is ALLOWED to see. As I stated before, if Boeing is just now releasing this promo video, you can bet the farm this technology has already been perfected and used on the battlefield. Compartmentalize.

  • Good point.

  • @Imfecher - We can currently take any missile down just feet above the launch pad or ocean surface. This technology has been perfected many years ago...and now is being fitted into vehicles. The Army has a new one that will take down light planes and IED'S. The anti missile missiles are 100 times better than just ten years ago as well. I like the fact that any country that launches will essentially "nuke themselves".

  • @cchanderson

Perhaps. Shame you cant stop hijacked planes from crashing into civilian buildings on home soil.

  • umm sounds like a flying obelisk of light...

  • when are they going to build the death star is my question

  • Why not use this technology to identify and dispose of land mines all over the world? This would save kid's limbs and enable them to play undistrubed. Why not dispense with weapons altogether and love each other? Use all technology with consciousness to help the human race as a whole?

  • Maybe because we'll get nuclear missiles raining down on our cities, and we won't have any means of protection.

If you have a way to completely disarm every rogue state, terrorist organization and criminal on the face of the earth, and you can ensure that they never pose a problem again, I'd like to hear it.

  • I like how the theoretical country launching missles is iran. This is great propaganda and a nice product promo :P

  • True.. true... very true...

    Nice observation :P

  • i don't think it really work's this thing...in the time of this video a real nuclear balistic missile, will reach every part of the world..it has to be more quickly this laser or airborne antimissile

  • I wonder where the plane takes the power to feed a multi-megawatt laser. Maybe a small airborn reactor?

  • huge-ass chemical reactor.

  • nope

  • before you know it, we'll just have another weapon to use against each other, and we'll just keep on fighting... even if they claim that it is for defencive purposes, we all know that if this technology is mastered, it will become a weapon, and hey presto, world war 3, and the human race wipes it's self from the face of the earth...

  • well the biggest threat to all of us is the MISC and the intelligent agencies. Any technology is weaponsied and used to serve the elite and the people behind them. A good step forward is to ask our govts to dispose of all weaponry and work on repairing the planet and helping everyone.

  • @stargate669

i'd much rather prefer our own "evil" government than to the trash of other powerful countries, which we are being protected from with this tech.

  • Can America use ABLs or a smaller version carried by a fighter plane to deal with these pirates in Somalia. That would be a big wake up call for them and stop them dead in their tracks like a magnifier focusing light onto an ant.

  • The ABL detects massive heat from Launch phase ICBMs in order to be used agaisnt vessels the targeting system would have to be modified from heat seeking to radar guided. Plus the ships used by the Pirates along with the weapons are not very advanced the problem is that the area the pirates frequent is huge. Also 747 would be fine for use against the pirates becuase they don't possess any Anti aircraft weapons.

  • The ABL uses a certain type of tracking system. What I am considering is a pilot guided eye tracking system that allows a soldier to confirm and track the while firing the laser. Tracking technology is well developed and can be easily adapted to the situational requirements.

  • i bet the first strategic flight crew will be called SHOOP DA WOOP!

  • you people do know that the creators take all of these problems into consideration like the risk of being shot down. You do know that it can go under escort and for that matter cant any plane be shot down? All i know is that they tedted the laser and it vaporized a 3in by 3 in target from 27 miles away.

  • It's an intriguing weapon. However, it would have to be part of a layered missile defense, if it is to be used against a large scale missile attack. And it would need an airwing of fighters for protection and at least two tanker aircraft to refuel them to support it. If it workds, deploy it. But they should also continue to refine it, to make the laser more powerful, more compact, and lighter.

  • What makes you think that the ABL can't be used on other targets with proper modification. Just because its designed to take out missiles dosen't mean it can't be used to target enemy fighters.

  • Correct. There is a modified version designed for fighter jets. The laser system is smaller and intended to strike surface targets that are not necessarily missiles. The military has certainly thought of this aspect and are probably licking their chops at the potential of laser introducing warfare.

  • Faster Faster Pussycat Kill KILL KILL!!!

  • and ballistic missiles could be fired from launchers hidden in deep jungles and silos !! It takes time for the boeing 747 stationed near some military base to go airborne and take down a ballistic missile which has already been fired. If boeing 747 is already in the air, then the ballistic missile can be taken down, but if 25 missiles at the same time are fired, then I don't know what to say

  • hopefully we will be using more than one once these things are effective...

  • no country would spend that much money just to give one to the USA. Also, we are gonna have several out 24/7

  • The future IS NOW! A weapon that travels at the speed of light!!!!!!!!!!

  • sure, it does travels the speed of light, but not the boeing 747 !! It could be shot down !! Moreover the laser's power reduces with distance

  • It can shoot down missiles as far as 350 miles.

  • I heard there going to get this into service pretty soon. If anyone wants to see a awsome picture of the YAL-1 I have it on my background image in my account

  • 17db77b, that is alot tougher then you make it sound. This system is not designed to stop a massive assault but more of an isolated missle like n.Korea or Iran might be able to fire.

  • It would seem the counter-measures to this would be to eliminate the drones, and then go after the "747", and then deploy and launch the missles.

  • 17db77b - Sure... but going after that 747 won't be that easy. It won't be up there alone. And the drones are not so easy to kill either. Hard to see, hard to hit.

And I have heard things like "spin the missile" as countermeasures. That is laughable. Try spinning in front of a shotgun blast & see how much good that does you. The laser delivers so much power over such a short period of time that spinning the missile is only minimally helpful. See the MTHEL.

  • Exactly. This is the beginning of Star Wars. Any counter measure would involve positioning satellites or enemy aircraft that would try to shoot (laser) down the U.S. ABL 747s and other counter missile technology before launching a missile offensive. With the use of lasers, strikes and counter-strikes will take place over great distances and would occur within less than a minute.

  • (laughing victoriously) Brilliantly awesome weapon, even more brilliantly awesome United States military technology. Serious kudos to Boeing and the Missile Defense Agency for this project... and woe to the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution, among other villains of American memory, for their machinations.

  • Awesome!
