  • This song is my dad to a T. He went looking to buy a truck and got pissed when he couldn't find a half ton with a manual transmission and crank down windows. And despite the fact that he has worked six days almost every week for the past fourty years he always has time for his wife, boys and grandkids. Great man.

  • my middle name is gates and im named after gates mcfarllen :)

  • this song means alot to me

  • My best friend's dad wrote this :)

  • True country music..

  • This song is my grand daddy to a t. he's been gone 21 years and i remember him like i saw him yesterday. We are losing the true men that made this country what it is. we need more that dont think of themselves...ever

  • my sorry i can't type but I'll never forget about one time I got mad about my football team not winning my dad said nominder who wins are loses. I have to put on my work boots and go to work,on Monday. Thats is so True

  • @romanlord2458 i have a great uncle like that to served in WW2 and this song describes him just right but he passed a summer ago at 95 workin all his life

  • @bossmod97 thank you for your comment.Dave was reduced to having to take up a pension check becuz of health problems 7 years ago

  • My daddy never was the Cadillac kind, either. I left home right after high school and bought myself a new car.....and just as the song says.....daddy wouldn't ride in it.

My dad died in November also. I don't recall if it was a caddy that took him to the cemetery, but most likely it was.

  • song is heart felt ,like pap, dad and myself, proud but not wanting the bells and whistles

  • Well explains my daddy & just my whole family I am a SHIRLEY & we are just simple men & women we know $ dont buy love & have been brought up that way & we aint no cadillac kind for sure

  • wow love thsi song. i am 22 yrs old and this my favorite song i wanna be a burried a simple man

  • LOVE THIS SONG.

  • Just sitting here listening to these songs makes me miss my dad even more. He died in 2005 and it never gets easyer. He was a hard worker man and nothing matter more than us kids!

  • @WHHS2001 Know what you mean. Whoever said " Time heels everything" LIED. Take care.

  • My Grandpa is in this video. He is one of the miners. If you stop the video at 3:05 you have the perfect shot of him. He has his jacket open and he is in a plaid shirt. I always thought it was cool that Danny Shirley wanted him in this video. I was in first grade.

  • Thank God my Daddy was the Cadillac kind.

  • I love how this bands, songs always seem to have a message behind them, it's not just a simple love song or something. Great band really do miss them.

  • My Granddaddy was a proud Kentucky coal miner and I remember my Daddy and Uncles laying him to rest in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery, April '88. His headstone read, "The Angels lifted a Simple Man's tired arms in work and now in rest."

  • goddamn i fuckin hate these ads!

  • im in love with mr cole's minor daughter

  • I'm 34. My old man is 65. Still works every day, and has never owned a new vehicle in his whole 65 years, and never plans to! His take has always been, "If it gets me to work and home every day, that's all I need. Why do I need something new to do that?" Like I said, I'm 34, and I drive a 1993 GMC 1500 short bed 2WD with a 5 speed, and 239,000 miles on the odometer!! Could I buy a new one, probably........but it gets me to work and home everyday!

  • @scttyboy1977 - 239,000 miles! you just drove to the moon!

  • @ohhellnoyoudidnt Now THAT would have been one heck of a drive!!!

  • This song shows hard work and sacrafice to give the best to your family.....ture men and hard workers.Daddy never was the cadillac kind!!!!!!

  • This song tells such a GREAT story and reminds me of Loretta Lynn's Coal Miner's Daughter.

The end is enough to make you teary eyed. I have this on a CD I bought years ago and just recently listed to, and enjoyed, it again.

  • Real country music you will be missed.

  • 9 people WERE the cadillac kind

  • This song can make a stone hard man break down and cry!!!!

  • This song brings back memories of deer hunting last fall to provide for my family and just talks about ym life so much

  • fuck the jones!!!! this honkey will never be the cadillac kind

  • i love this song great

  • Confederate Railroad wow brings back memories loved this band

  • Very good song!

  • well I am not a cadillac kind either. especially since they are now owned by Government motors.

  • @Alleyoops1981 Ha... GM took $30 million as a loan which has been paid back including interest. On the other hand, the financial industry took a $700 billion bailout with no intention of paying it back. People are giving GM hell for a loan and the banks get a pass with tax money for who knows what reason. Blood would be running in the streets if Americans actually gave a damn anymore.

  • @ftheccjake Well you and I agree on everything but GM.I still prefer Ford, they didnt take any money at all. But everything you and i meet eye to eye on.

  • What ftheccjake said

  • omg can somebody please tell me who sing this song im 24 but this song relates to me so well it keeps my heart singing this is real music . i heard this song first time today on the radio

  • @jacksonjones402 Confederate Railroad

  • this is my father-in-law to the TTTT great song

  • I really enjoyed the confederate railroad.

  • I've seen a lot of Cadillacs, from the classics, to the new generation. I've known a few people that've owned Cadillacs, and I've driven one myself, and I do agree with what some people say about them. They're nice cars, but I can't afford one....yet! However, if I do get a Cadillac, I want one of the ones with the 300 horsepower engine, that way I can run circles around all the riceburners out there.

  • @joshuabrooks21 I have a 2002 deville there nice cars

  • @Gam3Clock i got a 1997 chev 1500 4x4 there nice trucks

  • this is a awesome song

  • the end of this video gives me chills everytime i watch it

  • Beautiful song and GREAT Video clip!

  • Great song. I remember watching Danny Shirley play at Duck Soup in Chattanooga in 1979/1980. Just him and his guitar. I knew he was gonna

    be famous. Lots of talent.

  • Reminds me of my dad he wasn't a cadillac kind.,.. Miss him daily.. R.I.P Dad .. ♥

  • This song is great and reminds me of my dad and me cuz he hates cadillacs and fords and when he dies im going to play this and it brings me back to when i was a kid cuz we was poor and my dad told just what his dad told him it makes tears come to my eyes but it made who i am my dad did and just so you know my dad and me are firebird and trans am lovers

  • I always loved this song but had never seen the video. When those coal miners remove their helmets as the hearse drives by, it brings tears to my eyes.

  • You got to miss America when it was like this and real country music. Now its teenage pop music!!!!

  • @SteveLocklair true very true the no real traditional country any more will someone tell me where did it go!!!!

  • reminds me of my grand father who taught me that learning to do something your self is the best thing in the world and new is not always better and the simpler your life is the better so you can enjoy life and thoes around you

  • great band and music shall yall at foster park kokomo IN. great time

  • he sure wasnt

  • Great song, great singer and great honky tonk song. Honky tonks are scarce now a days its where these kind of songs made me have a good time. A lot of cowboy hats on the dance floor and pretty women.

  • played this song at my dads funeral ty for the post of this song great one

  • a knock off huh?? lol they were the crossroads band and from my hometown so yes its real country music and what i like... daddy never was the cadillic kind... :)

  • it all comes down to the fact that you dont have to be rich to be happy family and friends are all you need

  • @tslayer87 u dont really need friends they usually end up screwing u over over money or them fucking sumone close to u, or something else, all u need is a good foundation for a man ,woman and child if its desired

  • Please bring back country music like this. what are they playing today anyway lol??

  • @TonyCampbbell a nock off they think they can call country but if your a true contry fan youll agree the 80's and 90's was when the best country music was made they need to bring it back

  • @ford225 You do realize that this song was recorded in 1993 right? And it was released on the 1994 album called Notorious.

  • @ford225 new country suck witha few gems mixed in the 2000,s the nineties kicked ass, the shit frm the 60,ss and 70, bored me to tears, 90,s country always

  • This is my favorite song about a father, although Reba MacEntire has a good one, too. I wasn't close to my father, but this song brings tears to my eyes when I hear it.

  • A good old country song!

  • This song reminds me of my father who was a boiler maker and passed away in 2006. As they drove him away in that big caddilac with a tear in my eye I had to laugh. Cus daddy never was the caddilac kind.

  • The Union bulit this country!

  • Hard workers built this country!!!

  • nobody gives rrespect these days i always like to see that

  • best music ever

  • This song reminds me of my grandfather.

  • I always planned to have "A simple man. Simply laid to rest" engraved on my own stone because of this song. Here's to the simple men and those of us out there that still understand what it means.

  • all hail tothe confederacy

  • this song has very special meaning to me.........my father was a hard worker and passed away in November and he neveer was a cadillac man................great song Confrderate Railroad

  • This Song Reminds Me Of My Dad

  • Reminds me of the Ms. Kitty days.

  • Danny looks funny without his beard. Yeah, that's him playing the daddy

  • My uncle had this song played at his funeral. I didn't understand why at first. But as i grew older i understood. He didn't need money to be happy. all he needed was the love of his family and some money to pay the bills. That's all he asked for. When we buried him. He " went out with a his boots on, and a grin on his face."

  • People make fun of Rednecks til their car breaks down.

  • Well there is nothing wrong with a sober man in a cadillac, its better then a drunk driver in a ford pinto, I dont like the alcohol in this video, There is not anything wrong with being rich , Its Loveing money that makes it wrong, Better is a generaus rich man then a greedy poor one.....Free heart rich man is better then a greedy poor man...but who do you give to when your rich other rich people? how does a rich man know how to give to the poor? where does he learn this at?

  • AWESOME SONG ,THIS IS THE KINDA SONG THEY NEED TO BE PUTTING OUT ON "COUNTRY MUSIC RADIO" THIS IS REAL COUNTRY MUSIC ! THANKS DANNY SHIRLEY AND CONFEDERATE RAILROAD FOR YOUR AWESOME SONG!!!!

  • good song for alot of dads worked hard and very missed but he loved us

  • reminds me of my grandpa loooooool

  • my mom got a train run on her by every member of confederate railroad on my 8th birthday....best birthday present i ever got

  • why do people hate resnecks????????????

  • @bravo6310 because we actually know how to live right and have respect for other people

  • This was played at my Grandpa's funeral. RIP Grandpa Ben, 1953-2000.

  • Amazing song about the past, many of us grew up with these qualities. It's a shame how young people today (ok, I'm 29) don't have these values anymore.

  • @sihschris Partner, I understand. I'm 18 and wish it was like it used to be. Coming from a farm in the south this was the only music we had to listen to and when I heard the other "music" people listened to, it really worried me about our upcoming generation. We've got people running around listening to songs about screwing everyone and shooting people... and that's ok? God bless what's left of America.

  • they should make this video into a full-length movie

  • maybe I'm blind, but how is this song called?

  • i remember this song when it came out in 1994 a couple weeks before my grandpa passed RIP Papa 1914-1994

  • @acres90 My Grandfather passed away the same year. This song reminded me a lot about him he was real simple and didn't like to spend his money on materialistic things. Lets just say he never owned a Cadillac.

  • Really a nigger video for Confederate Railroad vid??? wow...

  • really a homo makin a comment..

  • You know what guys, My dad passed away when i was in the 4th grade. that was back in 2004. I remember he loved this song.... and this band... he told me "love was one thing money couldn't buy" refering to my mom, who passed 13 months before he did. This song makes me cry so hard. I miss my father so much. I miss my mother too.

  • 3:05 in the video sent chills up my spine.

  • @CodytheMan08 Great song, great video, and that ending says so much in just a few seconds of footage.

  • @CodytheMan08 Ain't that the truth, brother. The simple respect of the miners for one of their own despite the fact that they can't afford to take the day off. Life goes on, but they honor the fallen.

  • Man music just isnt the same anymore!!

  • I come from a family of coal miners and every time I hear this song or see this video, I burst into tears. Very well written along with Danny Shirleys outstanding voice makes it a great song. I wish we could hear them more.

  • This is when Country was real.. :)

  • like how the video goes to the working man but the song is more about family way to kill two birds with one stone.

  • Probably the only atheist, homosexual, liberal fatherless person listening to this.

  • @Excalion88 I would have to say no to that... I match you on three of your four categories... maybe halfway on the fourth.

  • @Excalion88 You can be any of those things and be touched by this song. If you have a human heart it gets to your heart.
