Now it is winter you may want to stay inside and play COD. My advice for camping is to use the AA12 and just hide in a dark doorway and shoot anyone who walks in the door before they have a chance to see you.
ppl always say you can use "birch bark" to start a file & in most case's thats TURE, however its not so true when its being raning and it's a nighmere to get lit, But ppl argu this point and say it dont matter its wet as "it's full of oil" But in my experience it dont make any difference, i could never get it to light. so whats your view / experience of this ?
@cyberjackcyberjack - As with all tinder - my advice is to either carry it with you - so it is "tinder dry" when you need it - alternatively - gather tinder - including birch bark first thing in the morning and keep it in a pocket close to your body - it will be dry enough by the evening to light your fire. I always carry enough dry tinder to start a nunumber of fires - all in a small reindeer skin pouch
@mythic89 Fair comment, but then why would anyone trek/climb a mountain, climb a glacier, expedition to the nth or sth pole. They are all cold and inhospitable. It's the challenge. Why camp in the summer when it can be hot and tiring. For many people who do these things it's the challenge instead of just staying indoors. Some examples on my channel. Go on get some cozy clothes and kit and give it a go :-)
LOL where's the snow ? Just kiddin good vid ..up in my neck of the woods we get a good 15" of snow ..been winter camping lost of times ..good info there .;)
All I'd add is, do check the weather forecast but be prepared for much worse conditions than the weatherman predicts. I've been Rickrolled hardcore by mother nature more than once, she doesn't always listen to the forecast :)
Excellent video, I especially liked how you cooked the trout over the fire with that special skewer. How did you make that? Wire? Thanks for the great information.
No wire, just split stick and 3 skewers. Trick is in filleting the fish so it's all in one piece. It's called Ponassing - Someone taught me many years ago.
@wildshow any tips on sleeping in 30 degree tent? breathing the air made me get a chest cold ..serious cough insued at 1 am ...didnt gather enough fire wood to maintain the fire ...also had to pee about 4 times , i covered my sleeping bag with a heavy wool blanket were i breath threw ..continued to cough threw the night ended up hap hazardly gathering my stuff up and leaving with a horrorable feeling i could of died out thier if stayed any longer.
Great video and info. One tip about the water bottle though. If you turn it upside down, the ice will now form in the bottom end of the bottle. Once turned upright, the cap end will be free of ice and ready to drink from. Cheers!
good stuff!

Down south we use Honda generators and Coleman stoves. An airconditioned tent is heaven on earth.
