HEY, the 80ties cool music came out of England mostly, when most poeple were jerking off to soundtracks of Footloose or shit like that.... a few went for This Music, cause it was the Better Part of the 80ties, and it wasnt for fame and money, or at least most of the Musicians never got both.
@newjerseyjew No shit! I noticed a video had been taken down that I had bookmarked. Copyright infringements in my country apparently. A Canadian artist (not one of the lame ass nickelback idiots or celine dion) IN Canada has copyright infringements? WTF?...If you can't play an artist in their own country, what the fuck is the point anymore?
Great song - Miss the days when this was popular. Whatever happened to the 80s? It was this revolution in music and then it seems like by about 1989 it all fizzled. It was as though there was some shift in consciousness in the music industry about 1982 that lasted till 1988. Wish this type of music was still being produced. Oh well at least the old stuff is still available.
I "inherited" a bunch of tapes when my best mate killed himself. Killing Joke & Kong take up 2sides of a c90 each, but they don't seem to be "Best Of" type things.
Can't find same track listings anywhere.
Anyone help with a list of best of Kong, Killing Joke tracks
Great jam - my friends can't figure how I'm stuck on 80's music - I still call it New Wave :) Although my 15 year old likes 80's pop, guess it grows on you.
This is one of the tracks with an elusive guitar part. Impossible to reproduce which says a lot about the one who has come up with it! Geordie has always been the master of his own clever chords with loose strings ringing along, extremely creative! Quite a challenge for anyone trying to play it, sometimes discouraging but definite proof of his genius
I loved the "Brighter than a Thousand Suns" album and the "Night Time" albums. Definitely more progressive thanthe other albums but I suspect the hardened 'Jokers' hated those albums. A very very underrated band though.
Haha! I remember when "progressive" meant music like this or the Cure. It became the new term for what was once called "new wave" and eventually became known as "post-punk" or "goth". "Love Like Blood" and "Eighties" were fantastic. The whole "Night Time" album was incredible, really. However, "Brighter Than a Thousand Suns" kind of killed it for me. I don't know, that's just how I felt back in '86 and still do now. However, I agree that the Joke is criminally underrated!
I remember buying this tape ('member them?) in 8th grade ('88) and being TERRIBLY disappointed...thank god I got "What's this for?" later on. I think they were trying to do a whole record of "Love Like Blood" and make some cash. Luckily they got back on track later...
Im 40 and remember this tape being in all my freinds cars! I grew up in Rochester Hills Mi and we were into ALL this misic...Echo, The Smiths, Aztec Camera, OLD REAL REM, Haircut 100, Jesus and the Mary Chain, New Order...you name it we had it. Prefab Sprout, the list goes on...
@littleboeep You have great taste in music judging by all those bands you just listed. Although I must confess I've never heard of Prefab Sprout. I will be researching them right after I post this reply.
@littleboeep Hi...I'm 40 too! I live in Sao Paulo, Brasil and I have the same old and good memories....WHAT A LINE UP!! Let me add some bands: Talking Heads; The Cure; Eurythmics; Bauhaus...

i agree dude like ok i was born in 85 but i listen to nothing but 80s music KILLING JOKE Is one of my favs aside form THE CURE SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES BAUHAUS JOY DIVISION so yeah i agree i bet they didnt get the credit and fame they deserved FUCK ALL THIS NEW BULLSHIT Fuck EMO FUCK SCREAMO Fuck all that poser shit
@may301985 you're just being lazy and ignorant there's always some good ones in every era, listen to the get up kids. What the fuck do you even care how devoted other people are to whatever kind of culture they want to be in? that mindset is such a buzzkill
@thundertower GET UP KIDS R FUCKING SORRY AND BORING AND r just soo unoriginal go blow the getup kids lol get off their nutts or on them whichever u prefer
@oceangroupgamer2k9 I was born in '48 and have been following this sort of stuff for decades. In almost every era, I thought the pop music basically sucked (with exception of this tune, which btw was controversial because of the use of synthesizers-- about as much appreciated in the surfer community at the time as roller blades). There was this big schism between "OLD" and "New" Killing joke at the time. But with every new era, I realize that the previous one was not so bad as I'd thought
@may301985 That is quite an outstanding list of bands you named off there. I've got every vinyl, CD, and/or cassette tape of all of those bands you listed. First and Last and Always by Sisters of Mercy isn't too shabby of a album to listen to either. Their song Nine While Nine seems to have a unlimited shelf life.
But I think people are slowly taking a look back, and its getting easier for people to say, 'you know, I really like this crazy old 80s band I heard the other day'.
Im obsessed with this video, I recently hear killing joke for the first time, and now I have to say its one of the best bands Ive heard.... I only like 80s music, its a shame new bands dont make music like this
my favourite album by KJ. love how a lot of the bands that i really like are mentioned in these posts. The Chameleons, The Sound, The Cure, Smiths..

anyone agree the intro is a rip off from the last track from the brothers in arms album (dire straits)?
