  • they all not beutiful

  • the beautiful ones always get second place. like jade seah from 2006 and joey feng

  • wannabes.

  • wow. You can see what these people are made of. Crappy women wants to represent Sg in pageants like this because the good women are just too smart that they won't even bother bec thier ashamed of Singapore.

  • disgusting looking..i dont know how they made it..should be china idols

  • what is a MAHDER?!!

  • lame ass answers.. u can find better looknig gals with better graces every weekends in town... this pagent is a waste of resources

  • holy crap thats the easiest question ever! The thing peggy said was EXACTLY what i was saying/thinking in my head. Holy common sense much,

  • aww i like peggy chang's answer!

    very witty. :)

  • singaporeans got the worst sounding accent ever!

  • especially when they fake it...it gets even worse...

  • not the worst, but it sometimes really annoy me

  • if you're making a statement simply based on the girls above, you're making a fallacy of hasty generalisation. a sample size of five singaporean girls do not represent our entire country tyvm

  • ???? that comment was in reply to 'DensityOfStates '. U've got the wrong end of the stick. Im a singaporean myself living overseas so yeah I knw my own background thanks, dont need 5 girls to have an opinion on my own country.

  • @imnicebutheartless sorry but that's what everone thinks.

  • is chris bell a les?

  • :) .

  • This miss universe is the most inelegant beauty pageant I've ever seen... These ladies seriously lack the grace as beauty contestants

  • joey feng and jessica tan is the only pretty woman..

    the rest are so ugly!

  • 2002's MSU is not chinese... lol... but i forgot her name... but she acted in archar 2...

  • Nuraliza Osman and she is mixed with Indian, Chinese, Indonesian and Dutch

  • Peggy had the best answer besides being vivacious and the prettiest of the 5, it was Singapore's lost not to have her as a winner.

  • and there's no such thing as how-rever peggy!

  • she's nervous lah, you try speaking infront of hundreds of people lah, see how u tremble under the spotlight.

  • I don't understand why Singaporeans knock themselves down all the time - if I'm not hearing that they aren't pretty as other Asians, then I'm hearing how small their country is and how they cannot compete in the Olympics as well as other countries. Pfahh!! I just spent 9 days in Singapore (I'm from the USA) and I found the Singaporeans to be excellent hosts, very nice, intelligent, accommodating, generous, and they love to talk about many different topics.

  • No you're wrong mate. its just the slang they're used to and accent that's different and that can be quite hard to understand sometimes. Standard of education is v high. Sex industries? haha you're some nutter.

  • OMG!!! those questions are so easy. i'd probably say something like: well when it comes to choosing your mom over the one that you love most, it would be hard. but if he loves me and he has to choose between me and his mom, he'd probably choose me. so i think i'll do the same. and it doesn't mean that my mom or my family would cast me out from the family.

  • @_@ why didn't Peggy win something?

  • Do they put this in America? My name is Christabel too and I want my friends to see that it isn't a made up name

  • Actually...I agree. I'm from Singapore but I really have to say this : We can't compare to other countries' standards and all of them either had bad answers, slurred in their speech or had bad grammar. Goodness. I didn't think Jessica was that good. I thought Cristabel got ripped off by claiming third place to be behind that Joey Fung who was totally undeserving.

  • i think. if [peggy's grammar wasnt so horrible she'd have won

  • this is a beauty contest , not a language class. i don't think the judges were looking at their language, they were most interested the content of her answer. i agree with you that Peggy had the best answer though

  • well you obviously arent well acquainted with the pre-requisites to being in Miss Universe. Intelligence and refinement is a necessity. if they cant even speak in proper grammar especially when english is Singapore's first language, how can they stand on the global front where the rest of the world is so well verse in their own mother-tongues. honestly its common sense that content and delivery comes hand in hand an there's just no argument about that.

  • language fluency does not equal to intelligence.

singapore should at least look for decents looking girls before looking at their english speaking skill. both these criterias compliment each other.

  • my point exactly. they have to go hand in hand. peggy's beautiful, i thought she was the prettiest out of the whole lot. But she just cant speak well.

Jessica's average, but her speech isnt littered with blatant grammatical errors. so i suppose she'd be the obvious choice. :) most of the time, intelligent answers that arent delivered intelligently, fail to impress anyone, let alone judges.

  • Its just sad that over the years, the girls sent from singapore are often the better speakers than the pretty ones.

  • AHHAAHHA.....her grammar where got horrible? can already lah.

  • Jessica's response is fucking cringeworthy

  • I know! it irritates me!

  • Non of the finalist are really beautiful and fared badly during the interview except maybe for Peggy who has got the best answer. Sorry to say that year in year out, Miss Singapore girls are not as beautiful as those from other countries.
