This song has the strangest bridge. John never liked it but he considered it a throwaway. He called it a bit tatty. Their throwaways were better than most people's hits.
@darkknight91 Well, the bridge is suppose to be some kind of a break from the verse? But yes, have heard that John thought of it as tatty. A bit high arched or something? But my main complaint for this song is more about a lack of coordination between the vocals and rhythm track. That seem to be slightly off kilter to each other. As though they were in a hurry to record it. But nevertheless, this is quintessential Beatles. Absolutely love it!
My only criticism for you, Buddy, is your strumming method. The use of your arm instead of your wrist makes it sound somewhat wooden and stiff and detracts from what is otherwise good technique. But you do a pretty good job in combining the guitar parts as someone has already noted. The Bsus riff going to A minor is almost impossible to do smoothly. But then why do you play B minor when it is clearly B major (I do not hear a seventh added there) on "you would want me to"?
@mlkbeat Yes...I have my 2nd. kit. My first kit was sold around 1977 and my second kit was purchased around the same time. ...but I still have them and recently set them back up.
Buddy..I just wanted you to know that the B minor cord you play when Lennon says "that you would want me to" in the middle is a B major, not a minor. just wanted to point that out
@Flotgus Grab a brain - a major and minor chord are worlds apart and can set the mood of a song, enhance it to hypnotising levels, or completely destroy it.. and that's what happened here with Buddy's minor chord error.
Nice Sounding guitar work. John goes to B major at the bridge. He was all about flaunting the major/minor dichotomy and in this song he's already played with it by the end of the first measure!
Dear Buddy, you melted me by your Scarborough Fair, it reminded my two guitars covered by dust asking for play :-). Thx much for your wonderful performance
Awesome job. I am curious are you in standard open tuning. Cause the chords you're using for that song look totally different from the ones I've learned. And is that your own arrangement or did you get it from somewhere.
Thanks! Every song I have played on You Tube is by ear and of my own arrangment. In some cases I have purposefully fused two or more guitar parts into one part that would convey the feeling of the song if you were playing by yourself as I often do. I always play in standard tuning for every song...EADGBE. Thanks for watching! -BC
Well, I stayed up last night and purposefully learned your version on it. And I gotta tell you it's superior to the one I got from an official beatles book, cause you're including some George stuff in there with John's rhythm. Thanx for making a two guitar song into one. I can include in my repetoire. Keep up the good work.
Good picking and substitution for George's guitar work, especially during the bridge! Two things are off: it would sound better if the guitar wasn't plugged in; the "wristy-strum thing" during the verse doesn't sound right, it sounds a little over the top. Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't learned this song yet, John may have strummed it like the way you did but I'm pretty sure he didn't.
I've tried to learn that song 40 some years ago. Finally lately I got hard on it thanks to you and others.
Check my attempt if you wish.
Cheers
