Swinginkatz, eternal thanks!! I was a kid in the 80's and had this jaw-dropping performance on VHS, and wore it out!! Women like Connie, Helen Forrest, Kay Starr can never be forgotten, or replaced. Bless them all, and you for keeping their magic alive. DD
It is really freaky to see Connie's family here. I was on PBS tonight and have watched and listened to many recordings since. PBS has been on Mute since i saw her. SHE IS AWESOME! I am so glad i found her...and sorry everyone but I had to post her to my Face book
I backed her several times in Tampa in a big band on bari sax. She made a big deal that she had to share the stage with another woman, jokingly of course! She was truly nice and will be missed.
This darling dynamo was a dear champion of mine when I first began singing! Due to her dragging me to an audition, I was placed under contract for 10 years with a great organization performing big band shows all over the country~! Connie was a fabulous talent and I feel so blessed and lucky to have known her even for a short while. I was certainly blessed for YEARS due to her sweetness and off handed generosity! God bless and rest you, wonderful Connie! I will miss you always!
connie was my grandma and she was a amazing and loved by her family and she will never be forgotten to this day for everything she has acoomplished in her life and not to mention a wonderful grandma
Saw her in 1952 or so at Lowe's State in St. Louis with Frankie Laine. Both were terrific. It's little remembered that Connie in the 1960s recorded for Motown (!) and those records were terrific but Berry Gordy Jr. just could not get the radio stations to play her for reasons you can surmise. Everyone at Motown, however, loved working with her.
ive been to all my nana shows and her music will always be kept alive by her insperation to her family and her grand kids and i knoiw im one of her grand kids and her voice will be always cherished and remembered
Thank you so much for posting this! Do you know the year this particular performance in the video was done? And I agree with you, she was one of the great ones.
Thank You for the beautiful statement.
