  • i saw one of petrilude's videos and he was using mixing medium so i looked it up on google (because i see so many people making there pigments more bright and all and everyone tells me to just wet the brush but it never works for me ) but anyway lol i looked on google "mixing medium" and saw your homemade mixing medium video and then this one and i got to say you are very noligable ( hope i spelt that right) and i thank you for that so i subscribed to you

  • can you spray it on you podwer for your face ?

  • thanks for the tip . love all your videos

  • Is mixing medium like fix plus?

  • a mixing medium is anything you mix with pigments or eye shadows. such as fix plus, clear nail polish, eye drops, um what else......a clear lip gloss........i hope you get the idea

  • clear nail polish?? is dat safe 2 go on the eye lids?

  • petrilude also did a video on mixing mediums. and the pigments are basically like powdered eye shadows, yes they are safe on the eyes.

  • No, clear nail polish is only to mix colored pigments with it to create a nail polish of the color of the pigment! NEVER use clear polish on your lids!!!!!!!

  • i didnt think wassupgurl08 was asking about putting clear nail polish on the eye lids.......but i could be wrong..

  • Can I do A Tablespoon of Glerysin ? lol and 3 parts of Water in tablespoon ? as lon as it's the same about right?

  • That was such a nice video. Great job...

  • can u use it as a finishing spray?

  • can you spray it on your face too???

  • OMG you saved my Blacktrack Fluidline! Thank you soooo much! I am addicted to your channel! You are so helpful!

  • You know, I was just thinking about how my black gel liner MIGHT dry out one day. I became concerned, but you totally just saved the day!! THANK YOU!

  • I love your hat, its cute :)

  • Thanks! I finally understand the purpose of a mixing medium. No one really has taken the time to explain it's uses before, and I really appreciate the homemade mixing medium video! I'm gonna try to make it soon! I love all your videos! I really love the homemade stuff you come up with! WOW, you are awesome!!!!

  • Just wanted to know your opinion of makeup setting spray like Model in a bottle...is there a substitute?

  • you're so nice and helpful!!

    and CUTE!!

  • Too cute, Happy Anniversary and thanks for the info it was very helpful.

  • such a nice place u have =)

  • Love this video. Love the intro, that drawing of you, very cool !

  • beatifull intro...niceeeeeee

  • lmfao nice intro ;)

  • darnit! There's no snow here in FL so I can't have that kind of fun. =D

  • lol! I like how you did a double take to the cam at the beginning. LOL! You're so cute!! Keep on crankin out these videos, man!

    luv,

    jessie

  • i have used the mac water based mixing medium for 3 months, or should say i've had it for 3 months. i used it twice with great results, after that, i still get great results, but with a burning sensation to my lids. not a light tingle..it actually burns-like icyhot. why is this? i try it from time to time, but still the same thing. is this normal for this product?

  • No it's not normal. It has been contaminated. Makeup gets exposed to air and picks up bacteria etc from the air, brushes, if you set your brush down on a countertop, it can pick up bacteria. Generally the 'moister' the makeup, the more easily and quickly stuff grows. That just happens to makeup. It's nothing you did, nor is it a reflection on your habits. Throw it out, or you risk eye damage.

  • Thanks for all your awesome tips & tricks & cool vids! They are so useful! =D You definetly have another subscriber!! I was wondering...will using a mixing medium ruin eyeshadow? That's what one of the girls at M.A.C.told me when I went to buy fix+ b/c it changes the eyeshadow i dont know chemicals orwhatev? but I saw your vid on making MM so im gonna try and do that...but would it ruin the eyeshadow? Is it something to use only on loose pigment in which you can separate some from the whole pot?

  • well you use mixing medium to dampen the brush, not on the eyeshadow.

  • Well I figured I would do that and only grab some e/s from the side of the pot with the damp brush. I figured it would dry quick enough sso if it did anything to it at least the whole thing wouldnt be ruined

  • Thank you for all the great tips!

  • my urban decay potion primer dried out, would i be able to make it moist again by adding mixing medium ??thanks

  • hmm that is a good question. um can you?

  • I LOVE YOUR HAT :D

  • does mixing medium allow the eyeshadow(loose and pressed) to stay on longer ?? like a primer??

    please respond

  • Can I use the mixing medium and damp my brush to apply mineral (loose powder) concealer under my eyes?

  • yes you can

  • oh thank goodness i saw this vid cuz im scared to death of my paintpots and HIP eye liner of drying up. lol. thank you!

  • Hi,

I just want to ask, can you put some off your foundation on your lips to make a kind off nude look? Thanks ( :

  • many people use foundations to neutralize their lips mor ethat nude-lip look. Its ideal to use something cream based.

  • I am just now getting into using mineral makeup. Which would you say is better to spray on the brush..fix+ or the mixing medium?

  • I prefer fix plus

  • love the ending!!

  • Thank you so much. I will let you know how the mixing medium worked for me and send photos :-)

    Nikkie

  • Hey I am new to the youtube channel thing. I love your videos very informative. I just wanted to ask, how long can you store the homemade mixing medium?

  • homemade mixing medium doesnt have preservatives, so they go bad after 10 - 14 days. So 2 weeks the most. So make them in small amounts.

  • Hey I am new to the youtube channel thing. I love your videos very informative. I just wanted to ask, how long can you store the homemade mixing medium?

  • hey nikkie - 2 weeks the most, so make them in small batches. Theres no preservative added, so black looking mold will start to build after 2 weeks.

  • You are so silly...I never made an angel..no snow in the south... your awesome... i love you videos

  • aww how cute! u are making snowangel at the end of the vid!!!

  • the glycerin has a hi-gloss finish, it will give a hi-shine finish to your face. Fix+ doesnt

  • can you mix glycerin with distilled water?

  • yeah, thats what I do. I use distilled water.

  • is it better to have the mixing medium in a spray bottle or one that release drops

  • the drop bottles are more ideal.

  • thank you.

  • you are super cute in this vid!

    <3

  • ..aww..this video was cute!

ur so adorable with that snow angel!

  • oo nvm i didnt watch the whole thing before i post before. srry

  • wats a mixing mediuM?

  • uh aznfreakie... that's all he talks about after 2:56

he answers that question very thorougly

  • snow angel!!!

  • ok, i just discovered that eyeliner can't be used on the waterline, so what pencil product can i use on the waterline?

    thanks

  • hey raudhaha - there are eyepencils approved for waterlinign. MAC powerpoint are now approved for waterlining, Stila have Kohls that are aproved for waterlining. Also check out Styli-Style Line & Seal.

  • thank u so much

  • Loreal has a great kohl eyeliner that i use for the water line for about 8 dollars it stays put most of the day:)

  • Koren, we don't have visine in our drugstores.

Can i use another brand of eye drops? Any particular ingredient i should be looking out for?

  • hey raj - any eyedrops that has glycerin

  • hey didi - yes it will, but not s much as using plain eyeshadow as eyeliner - its best to use some form of sealer like SheLAQ by Benefit.

  • hey didi - not sure what you mean by homemade eyeshadows...

  • can one just use water?

  • whats difrence between water line and eye liner arent htey the same thing ?

  • hey boochie - not really. Eye liners are applied on the lash line, and waterline is that membrane between the lash line and your actual eye.

  • can i use eyeliner on my waterline? i always do so.

  • Hey Koren, can I use the homemade glycerine mixing medium on the waterline as well as an eyeliner. Thanks a lot.

  • hey mimi - eyeliner yes - waterline, no, and thats because its not waterproof, you need something waterproof for waterlining, or else it will not stay, and you get racooning.

  • Thanks Koren, but is it still safe for the waterline though.

  • yes - it is, you can also use visine as mixing medium for waterline.

  • Thanks very much.

  • hey koren!! i finally got around to buying some alcohol for the mixing medium, im wondering if denatured ethyl alcohol 95% will do? (: its an antiseptic i got from the drugstore

  • oops. sorry i meant for the pigment pressing (:

  • yes thats fine - it will evaporate faster so keep an eye often when watching to dry before press.

  • yay!! thanks so much koren (:

  • is there somthing to mix with mac glitter?

or would mixing medium help it adhere?

  • no, mixing medium will not last long to keep the glitter stickin to the skin. I like using SheLaQ by benefit for adhering glitters, and if I want it to last all day and all night, I use a little bit of eyelash glue.

  • hey enkore, i just ordered mixing medium gel to use with my eyeshadows and pigments..is that the same as the homemade one u did using glycerin? i saw "glycerin spray" on the mac pro site, but it said it was used to create fake sweat. which mac mixing medium do people use with pigments? i think the gel one also said that its not safe to use around the eye area ?? im confused, help? :/

  • hey Ellie - the ones that people use often is the Mixing Medium waterbased. The GEL is like hair gel but clear. The Mixing Medium I made a homemade version of is the waterbased version.

  • thanks for getting back to me so soon! so that sucks, i got the wrong one :( haha oh well. maybe, by some miracle, i'll stumble across some glycerin somewhere and make ur homemade version kind, i cant find that stuff anywhere!

  • hey Ellie, yeah - you'll find it, check out the BAKING section too, as glycerine is used a lot in cake making and cake ising and such. Most craft stores have them in the soap-making aisles.

  • I love this video, the snow was a delight to see. I loved the ending when you did your snow angel. You are the BEST!!! You have totally changed my life and how I look in such a big way, thank you!!!!

I hope you continue to make tons more and I look forward to watching everyone of them. I play your videos so much that my husband and son sing your opening song. It has gotten to the point that they sing it without even noticing it. LOL

I wish you all the best!

From the bottom of my heart.

  • Quick question....

If i use a mixing medium when i apply my shadows then i want to blend them, will it be harder to do so, and if so is there a trick to blending while using a mixing medium..or will it just blend like if i was using shadows or pigments regularly..ohh i hope my question made sense!

    Muahhs

  • hey dj - its pretty easy to blend it while damp, much like blending cream shadows, also you can wait a few seconds for it to dry, and then blend. It gets easier as it dries or set to its powder state.

  • awesome! Thanks so much thats really helpful!

  • Hey... so I just watched your video on cleanliness/sanitation and my questions is: If your fluidline is dried then it should probably be disposed right? because it's probably been over a year? (Or maybe I have the timing wrong - perhaps gels last longer) I'm just glad you're here!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!! Thankyou for your videos!! You're a pleasure to watch.

  • technically yes, but if its because its been left out open, then it will dry out. You can emulsify that using a few drops of mixing medium. If its old, then definitely dispose.

  • ur cute!

  • hey enkore!

i really neeeddddd some mixing medium!

but where do i get some?

    i live in oregon

they dont really sell it online

is it true i have to go to the prostore

    in canada?!

  • hey felonxromance - I have a video on how tomake Mixing Medium. Look it up on my vid list and it will help ya. All you need is glycerin and water.

  • ok thanks!

does it work as well as macs?

  • even better - no preservatives added!

  • Thank you SO MUCH for all of your videos and for taking your precious time to help those of us that are "makeup challenged" lol! And...you are adorable to boot! You should have your own show on the Style network - congrats on your 6-month anniversary!

  • Hi EnKore, where is the best place to store makeup in the house? I'm not feeling too confident about my bathroom...let me know what you think! Thanks! Monique

  • hi trans - i understand your feeling about the bathroom. People dont realize that keeping makeup in the bathroom is very DRYING to the product - you notice how stuff DRY faster when you hang in the bathroom? But I understand also that keeping there is easily accessible when you're getting ready. Cooler places with less humidity is ideal. Like in your vanity, in your bedroom, etc.

  • Hi Encore/Koren,

I re-watched your this video and realized that it really is snowing, and not on of your fancy editing tricks. I thought you were in Southern California. LOL :)

    It's real snow right?

  • hahah yeah Casandra - its real snow. It poured that day and so much fun!!!

  • I love how clear and easy to follow your videos are. Please keep them coming! BTW, what's your ethnicity? Are you Filipino?

  • Ur the BEST K

    xoxo Tish xoxo

  • you are quite a guy lol :P

  • what is the painterly paint pot

  • what is the painterly paint pot

  • Would you suggest using MM to revive drying mascaras? (come on, it's all happened.. it dries up and you don't have time to run for the store.) I've been told just to use water, but that seems a little bit icky to me.

:-P I also showed your homemade MM video to someone in my college today during lunch.. :-D

  • hey lady - my trick is I actually use a couple small drops of Olive Oil - it brings dried up mascara back to life! And OO is safe in the eye area. MM is good too but it will eventually dry up again, OO seems to last a lot longer.

  • snow!!! i wish we had that here :D

  • thanks foe every word... god stay by you.

  • I love this video. its lush!

    :]

    xxx

  • SUCH A CUTE VIDEO!

  • Koren, i love ur video ending...so cute!

  • Thank you!! for the 6th month! =D keep´em coming!!

  • love you soo much !

had a question though.. I wanted to know if you had any info on pro palettes that you can buy off of ebay from asian sellers. many people have been talking about them so I just wanted to know if you had heard any neagtive or positive about them, thanksss soo much for all your tips... HAPPY 6 months!!

  • Mostly negative - mainly they are FAKES, if you dont care if they are even if they are just empty palettes, then they do the job. In most cases, the lids break easily on fakes.

  • hi koren, good luck on the makeup studio! i wonder if u might b able 2 respond 2 this: what are the benefits of mineral makeup? is it better?

  • in a sense, it is better for the skin. As most mineralized makeup are basically NATURAL mineral rocks, milled finely, and then colored using Kaolin Cray - another natural earth element. Some may contain metals like Mica and SIlica to that shimmer effect. NOW, other foundations can contain Talc, Titanium Dioxide, Synthetics, Silicone, Dimethecone, etc... that can be both Good and BAD for the skin. So that makes Mineralized kinda above all.

  • Hi koren, thanks for your reply. what kind of mineralized makeup does m.a.c. provide?

  • they have Mineralized SkinFinish Natural (powder) and Mineralized SatinFinish (Liquid), and every now and then, they come out with Mineralized eyeshadows on a limited edition basis.

  • Your happy smiley face always brightens my day!

  • Ohh Koren! You are so crazy, I love it :D!

  • love your home koren. and i love your ending, so cute.

  • Hi Koren. Congrats, & thanks for all the valuable tips & tricks, etc which you share. I find you and your video's most interesting. I live in sunny Queensland, Australia. One day I am going to make a Snow Angel too. Just like you did. Have fun :-)

  • Congrats on 6 months! You are so appreciated on YouTube! I love the ending with you making a snow angel! Great video and I can't wait for your new room!

    You rock Mr. Koren!

  • Happy 6 months!!!!

  • THANKS

  • happy anniversay, Koren! i look forward to your vids everyday- keep them coming! you have very demanding fans! :)

  • Koren, is it your house?? What a beautiful place!!! I can imagine all of this in a summer, or spring, or fall time with the sun light sinking... It must be gourgeous (did I write it right??)... Can you show us some photos of this super view??

Kisses from a strange summer in Brasil... :/ lol

    Thais

  • Can i use MM to put in mascara if it's too dry?

And thank u for all the tips u give us. Your video about curling lashes saved my life :)

  • yes, you can use MM to the mascara if its a little dry. A drop of olive oil works best on mascara, and olive oil is safe in the eye area.

  • Fun video Koren! Thanks for the tips, before I watched this video I didn't know that you could use Mixing Medium in eyeshadows so that was great to know.

BTW, what brand camera does your friend have? It shows daylight really well.

  • thanks sooo much i was all confused about it but now im gonna start using it...tanks again :-)

  • I never used mixing medium, but after watching this I tried using the home made, and I'm LOVING it! You're a darling. Thank you much!=D

  • love your video

  • for my eyeshadows, i use visine or saline solution to turn it into eyeliner or like a creamier form of eyeshadow. have you ever heard of that enkore? is that ok?

  • yep I've heard of it - Visine is definitely a good alternative.

  • Thank u ! i loved the ending !

  • No, Koren... THANK YOU!!!!!! I have to say that all the videos that you have posted have been a huge inspiritation to me and have answered so many of my questions that I had about make- up. Please don't ever leave youtube lol... so many of us would miss you! Hope your loft area comes together just how you want! :)

    Jade

  • aww i love the end when ur playing in the snow! The intro is great as well!

  • totally cute ending!

  • i don't have a pro store or a free standing store anywhere near me, so i have no way of getting palletes! and my pot eyeshadows are piling up. is it true you can call the mac pro number and order palletes, even if you aren't a pro member? :]

  • yeah is that true?

  • yeppers - its true.

  • yes - very true! You can call Customer Service and order there, even if you're not a Pro Member.

  • I recently tried to order one from the regular MAC customer service number and they told me I had to be a PRO member to order. Is there a different number that you might be able to provide?

  • The Pro Products line is 1-800-866-6464

  • Oh Enkore,

    Your absoultly amazing..!!!

  • I loved the ending especially! LOL It made me smile!

  • hi enkore I made you a video responses video about your foundation vid I wanted to know what I can do about when I put foundation on with my foundation brush it leaves lines and streaks so I dont know if Im not blending enough or wrong brand or what? I use almay brand and some covergirl..really any brands I use its doing it. So can you help me? Thanks and good luck with your new room studio!

  • I love your vids. Very cool start. Where I live (Madrid, Spain) we don't get too much snow, so I loved the view. You look super hot in that hat o' yours lol!

  • LOVED the Snow Angel!!

  • Your so cool EnKore! Great info,Lol, loved the snow angel too!

  • It was hard for me to watch this cause youtube was being stupid and stopping every 5 seconds, but you're awesome!

  • awe sorry - Youtube is funky today, its happening to me too when I try to watch some stuff today.

  • i was just wondering, how much is water based mixing medium at a mac pro store?

    thanks =]

  • they are $15 for a 50ml bottle.

  • Hi Koren! Just loved this video! Really funny! Loved the snow angel!!! Always wanted to make it, but there's no snow here in Brazil lol!

So, can I use mixing medium water based to fix glitters? How?! Will I get a good result? Thank youuuuuuu!

  • hey ahbya - wow, i'd rather be in Brazil right now! for Glitters, mixing medium will really not hold the glitters to the skin. I like using lash glue for glitters, or ShelaQ by Benefit if that is available in Brazil.

  • lol i love ur videos

  • u not only make creative things out of cardboard, ur now making a loft 4 ur cosmetics (lol)

  • hahaha - yeah and even that is made of cardboard LOL nah - its quite a fun project, but Im really excited about it!

  • lol. i hope everything works out good 4 u.

  • Hi Enkore! I love your vids...I just bought some glycerin and I tried it out the other day with some purple pigments and e/s...I didn't feel itchy or anything, but when I took off the makeup my lids were kinda pink...Do you think this was the glycerin irritating my skin or leftover pigment that really stuck to my lids? :) Anyway, I'm thinking to dilute my mixing medium with 4 parts water and 1 part glycerin...instead of 3:1. do you think this would still work?

    TIA!!!

  • hi Tia - yeah its the RED in purples. Most purple pigments do that, leaving a hint of red stain on the skin. It could also be that you are slightly allergic to red pigment, which most purples have. Most people have this reaction and dont know about it.

  • I Love Your Videos There So Much Fun!!

  • YAY you're back!! I abSOlutely missed you and your videos!! I'm very excited for you and your project in creating a makeup room! I got alot of snow in my area as well, so I think I'll just doodle and or re-organize my little sanctuary of make-up (^_^)...but I definitely can't wait for your new videos!! **Toodles**

ps. the ending was too cute...I tried to do the angels but my dogs kept jumping all over it :oP
