  • 14 people were killed by the Mantis Ant

  • The beginning of this song makes my dick shoot pure Tiger Adrenaline

  • This shit gets the blood pumping, it's awesome.

  • I could listen to this all day!

  • *eats at a diner and forgets that wallet is home*

    *song starts*

  • fkn luv this game <3

  • 01:12-01:45 makes me wanna dance crazy

  • This song greatly embodies sheer panic and fear.

  • They should remake this game

  • i use this as ringtone in my phone for my girlfriend :-D

  • Im yet to hear a piece that embodies a boss fight any better than this. I dont just mean on the SNES either. Fuckin sweeeet soundtrack.

  • Sounds like sonic vs eggdragoon from sonic unleashed.

  • Perfect Music to blast in someones face to wake them up lol

  • one of the best game of all time!!!

  • favourite game music EVAR, even beats zelda music for me :O

  • In many ways it's not one of the best themes from SoM, but it's such a perfect representation of a boss fight. There's the nerve-jangling panic at the beginning, then the menacing part where you're fighting as hard as you can but the boss seems to be ready for you at every turn, then 1:14, when you've worked out its pattern and you start to believe you can actually win.

  • @SamildanachEmrys I have to agree. For boss music this really gets my adrenaline pumping. LOVE THOSE DRUMS!

  • 13 were killed by Mantis Ant

  • @darkkyosukecrono you got no thumbs up buddy dont even try to do a thumbs down joke ! ! ! ! sick of it

  • @shayan666 *yawn*...heheh all right,just don't get mad,ok? n_n

  • Best fucking boss theme ever, period.

  • this song has one of the best remixes in all video-game-dom: watch?v=jN_mh2rx-o4 ... it is genius. Stick through it at least until 2:00 (which corresponds to 1:14 in this version ... you know the part I'm talking about)

  • Yeah! This one will be my next drum cover video! Finally got to 180 bpm double bass speed to finally get this one done after 9 years of drum playing =)

  • @Vashetrockner I saw Virgil Donati at a drum clinic a few years back and he hit 200 bpm. I about shit my pants.

  • @IWonTheIntarwebz Virgil Donati is of course a god. Furthermore you can find on youtube drummers with speed that goes to 250 bpm. But i think with 200 bpm you are at a tempo thats more than enough. Never tried 200 , but 190 ( The Black Mages Version of Grand Cross from Final Fantasy IX ) i am able to drum, and until now , i dont need more. =)

  • thumps up if u still playing Secret of Mana

  • I feel ready for a fight!

  • This is the music that plays when she says "Can you finish? I'm getting tired."

Then just when she thinks I'm done at 1:55, it starts all over.

  • Comment removed

  • I heard this song 3 minutes ago: it remember first 'Tiger' boss. I lost 4 times. After that, i promised me to use spells on BOSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ThePuppetMaster69 Spikey lol

  • @ThePuppetMaster69 I figured Spikey Tiger would have popped up somewhere in the comments.

  • Oh, man... One of the most scary boss music.. When you hear it, you just think: "OMG!"

  • I think I had a siezure

  • Everything starts out frantic with the enemy attacking. Then, the hero fights for awhile and knocks down the enemy. Next, there is a moment of rest. Finally, the enemy gets back up for another round. That pretty much sums up this song.

  • the greatest boss theme ever, from the greatest gaming era ever!

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Secret of Mana is just awesome. And this theme is awesome too, it creates a feeling of the battle that nearly no other game bgm can create.

  • Sick beat : )

  • Yeah?

This game was fun but having that tiger spam me with his ball attack was annoying.

But I had so many gameovers with this song it was worth it! :D

  • "Ohshitohshiohshitt! I'm gonna die! I should have leveled more, dammit! Maybe I should just reload..."

    (1:09 comes along)

"...Screw it, I'm not going down without a fight! Bring it on, you ugly SOB!"

  • can't kill the damn wall!!!

  • At McDonalds: You forgot my Coke? Ah, doesnt matter... *Song cames up* ...YOU! FORGOT! MY! COKE!? DIE, FILTHY FOE!

  • 1:14

  • Hitting walls with your bare fist has never been this good.

  • I would love to hear Dream Theater make a cover of this

  • @ShadowMKII

    holy shit...lol

  • @ShadowMKII Wow you win with this comment. Metal rules, and some video game music is fucking perfect to synthesize with progressive metal. Good call!

  • @ShadowMKII Mangini can do all this with only one hand.

  • @ShadowMKII I was thinking Dragonforce.

  • @ShadowMKII I conclude.

  • The part that starts at 1:14 is my favorite. It conveys a feeling of "Come on, let's regroup----we can do this!"

  • Fuck you dreadslime.

  • Tiger jumps.

    *BLAM*

    "X is unconscious".

    Tiger spit fires

    "X is on flames".

Yea I hated this fight, died like five times until I managed to defeat that damn boss.

  • My first video to break 200,000 views! =)

  • @PeyserConley I love the synthetic double kick drums.

  • @PeyserConley And you put down some much effort in it too! Congratulations dude ;)

  • @PeyserConley

I just kept on coming back to this song to much as so did alot of people to.

  • What awesome memories this game brings. Good thing I still have it and the SNES at my Mom's house. I think I'll go get it this Thanksgiving break from Uni.

  • I love that first snare drum hit

  • What a hard game, but it was worth it for the music

  • This song is legit my ringtone.

  • just imagine this on double bass drums and a full band playing this lol, it would wallop your intestines til your ass caves in :3 with the drums alone

  • @robometallist I have a friend who is about to attempt it with his band. He just has to nail the guitar part first as it is a stone cold bitch.

  • @forcedjustice89 actually i can nail it but i am tuned to Eb so it sounds off, when i am in E i do play along with this lol

  • I will always and forever love this game =]

  • I can play this on my guitar. LOL jk

  • BRING BACK THE 90s!

games were much better back then

    <3 Secret of Mana <3

  • @IsilionNELE So was life...now that im in my early 20s life sucks haha

  • @XenOz3r0xT I just turned 30, and life sucks even more :(

  • Damn RIGHT this song has almost 200k views and 566 likes. Everyone should experience the awesomeness that is Secret of Mana.

  • this song makes me remember the battle with the Gigas i hated those things they were the only bosses i had trouble with i mean magic wtf man and breath attacks wtf

  • Whenever I hear this, I mentally add the sound of chain-casting magic. Usually Shade's Dark Force.

  • I think my favorite part starts at 1:14 , most boss battle songs don't have this long of a loop.

  • @Khalirei Well, until you make it the mana fortress and deal with the bosses before the Dark Lich unless you are maxed out with everything.

  • Awesome, one of the best Boss Battle themes ever. :3

  • This music says: Welcome to hell

  • @Philgr To me it says: Watch that hole, there's a mantis down there. :>

  • When I was 12, my older brother had just had his first kid, and I went over to visit a lot after school. I love my niece and all, but I didn't go to see her, I went to play Secret of Mana.

  • 'Whenever i need to take a shit and im stuck in traffic this song run through my mind'

  • @abcdefghijk84164 That's some epic shitting action, man! ;D

  • @abcdefghijk84164 lol, i will never hear this song the same way again!

  • @abcdefghijk84164 looool ^^

  • Oh my god!! this is soo epic! :D my childhood, good times :D

  • I lost my Snes one....... Well, time to Download it on the Wii shop channel

  • I think this Song will play if the end of the world finally arrives!

  • badass

  • Intro Lyrics:

    Takin' A Dump

    Takin' A Dump

    Takin' A Dump

    Takin'

    Takin'

    Takin'

    Takin' A Dump

    Takin' A Dump

  • Why hasn't there been a remake of this song with proper instruments?

    Answer: Can't match the epicness!

  • Goose bumps :) SoM has one of the best soundtracks EVER. :) Love this game, still playing it on my SNES.

  • AAAHHHH!!!!! HATED THE MASTERS!!!! but the songs great from 1:13, epic

  • Still epic to this day.

  • This does not only bring back memories, it brings back emotions.

  • I bet Square's keyboards were smoking after they got done playing this song.

  • "insert character name here" is unconscious!

    GOD.DAMN.IT!

  • Man when I ever feel like Im about to die in a game I remember this theme XD

  • THIS is a boss theme...things that actually scare the fuck out of you, then all of a sudden an epic hero part XD

  • I remember one night when I fell in that hole because of an earthquake..it was my first time playing an RPG...so right after I fought that boss I got sort of bored with the game..lol

  • @KrumpetNylon lol

  • This is so great! Awesome! Thank you so much for upload!

  • 7 people lost their lives to a boss

  • @xray538 Sadly, not a trace of those 7 people were ever seen again.

  • I remember that I played SoM when I was 5 years old. I always got scared of that music xD

  • I'm amazed this has so many likes and views. Honestly, I think it sounds pretty.... bad.

  • @Romalian Why you are not playing MW2 right now?

  • @niklasvp Why.. would I...?

  • @Romalian Everyone who hates SoM music is MW2 Fanboy

  • @niklasvp That's like... the most impressively silly thing I've ever heard.

    I don't even play FPS's.

  • @niklasvp

Not all of them some of them are just trolling for no reason or I wouldn't say they are MW2 fanboys more like modern generation gamers.

I'd rather stay the fudge away from haters just enjoy the games, for gameplay and music thats what I prefer the most :)

  • @niklasvp

Umm, no offense, but that's some horrible logic right there.

  • I also remember the Square Soft games had a distinct art style in their covers and concept art, not just great game music. That artist who did the cover for this game and the characters for FF6, I forgot his name but he was amazing. Too bad they don't use him anymore. His style was not the typical anime stuff so they probably thought his style wasn't mainstream enough.

  • @hamidious yeah, nowadays almost every RPG has the hideous cliche anime artstyle where the only difference between the characters is either gender or hair.

  • I love how they just throw you into the first boss fight with this song, so damn chaotic, I'd like to see modern RPGs pull something like this off.

  • When I played SoM when I was 4-6 years old I turned off volume while defeating a boss! It was so scary!

  • Favorite part 1:13

  • @mungomann 1:13 is what makes it awesome, having this theme without having that part is like having the song "one" by metallica, without the solo, it just wouldent feel right

  • I like the music a lot. I just hate how there's no buildup to any of the bosses. It's just like, you're in a talking scene or walking along, and you hear the music. And you're like wtf, a boss battle?

  • One of the greatest boss songs of all time, hands down.

  • I have to turn down the volume whenever this starts playing. My heart can't handle the intensity... haha.

  • This plays in my head whenever I have a test.

    *Test paper gets wacked!* XD

  • @bmalone05 So, what's with the new trend of little kids in high school leaving comments like this on video game BGMs? Is that the cool thing now, "this plays in my head b4 my teecher yells at me"? Fuck, dude. This song plays in my head when I'm fighting a boss on this game. Please stop gaying up SNES RPGs for everyone else.

  • @zsybrant Ok maybe those trend of comments are overused...... but dude chill out.........and Im not a little kid in high school. ¬_¬

  • @zsybrant Yes, because people shouldn't think of awesome game music any other time then when they're playing the game that music is from! The comment section isn't here for people to say they think a song is great in whatever way they want! There are strict rules on how you should and should not say it!

Oh yeah, in case you can't tell, I was being sarcastic...

Seriously dude, out of all the jerks out there, you're going to harp on someone over this? Seriously...

  • my older brother and cousin used to tell me about this game, so when I got my Wii it was naturally one of the first I downloaded. before I could complete it though, my wii was stolen =(.

I might get a new Wii for this game alone though =).

  • This will always remind me of falling into the hole and fighting the mantis.

  • @ltrizzle84 What the fuck?! Unconscious AGAIN?! Fuck this!

  • @ltrizzle84 I always think of the mantis too. Luckily you kept ressurrecting, otherwise it would've been the shortest game I've ever played.

  • @ltrizzle84 Ditto

  • enter panic mode!

  • i play this theme right as i'm about to take a dump

  • @BillyArtillery HAHAHAHA holy shit! Next time I have to blast my ass, I'm gonna crank this on my stereo and run about the house, searching for the toilet in vain. My roommate might just lose it :D

  • As a child I was pretty desperate (since 0:00) and scared (starting at 0:42 ) during the fight until 1:13

At that certain moment I thought "Baby you can do it!!!!" Heromode: ON!

  • @worldistrouble If Chuck Norris had a Heromode switch, it would be duct taped in the on position.

  • Thumbs ub for if you killed the first boss under the start-village with a single strike like I did. >:-D

  • I love how the high rated comments HAVE NOTHING to do with this song, nice fail

  • The vast majority of the game's bosses had at least one palette-swapped version fought at another point in the game. But it definitely worked out well.

  • I love how at 1:14 it uses the leitmotif from "Eternal Recurrence" (the song that plays when you first meet Undine).

  • The only thing I don't like about this game is wither or not SD3 or SoM was better.

  • @NeoSamuel SD3 hands down! I Just went back to that game yesterday. The first time i beat it i used Duran, Hawk, and Angela (as everybody else did lol). Now I went back to find out what happened to Lise, Kevin, and Carlie. God Secret of Mana series was the shit...until after Legend of Mana. Even that one was borderline good, after that...Anyways this song is the shit!

  • I had to go to the 11th page to read the OnePunch comment, it was worth it

  • @cortasetas

Haha thanks bro. I don't understand why all my top comments get bumped off. It has almost 900 thumbs.

  • this tune only means one thing... TIME TO KICK SOME EPIC ASS!!!

  • this tune sounds like a acid trip gone wrong..in a good way

  • nobody cares that egoraptor faved this so just STFU!

also what a weird song, I can't even tell why I enjoyed it.

  • @myshoescramp A lot of people are only watching this because they saw Egoraptor favorited it.

  • @elementaldrgnmstr I know. I'm just sick of people exploiting that to get thumbs ups because people get so exited when they see something that relates to them >:(

  • When Egoraptor favorites a song chances are he will use it in one of his later flash animations you see today.

Perhaps we'll be seeing a secret of awesome?

  • :o Egoraptor likes my fav song from one of my favorite RPGs? My life...is complete...R.I.P me

  • I love this music :'D so nostalgic. and Egoraptor faved this :o

  • Lol Remember this awesome music when playing through the game 2player online with Zsnes with a friend :P good times. Last boss was a bit of a joke though

  • Egoraptor =]

  • i still have this game

  • so do i. i boart it a week ago just got into the golden tower its a good game

  • Listening to this song reminds me of those epic boss fights when I was about 7 or so. I remember thinking to myself: "Alright! Time to mess up huge monster!" After some time, "Oh crap! I'm dying! What do I do? I'm freaking out, man!"

But then, at 1:13, I hear epic music: "What a second. This is MY game! Screw that monster! I'm not going to lose!" ...when I do lose, the morale boost just fuels my rage when I reload my saved game, lol. Ah, memories. I'm going to start using this in COD...

  • It's like someone totally pimped some news report music :D

  • Sad thing is, my comment gets utterly ignored while the fecal version of it gets praise...lol.

  • IMO, Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger were ahead of their time in terms of music and storyline.

  • This sound sounds VERY progressive.

From 0:00 to 0:43 we have two distinct opening riffs.

From 0:43 to 0:53, something different. More arpeggio-like.

From 0:53 to 1:13 Yet another thing.

From 1:13 to 1:35 Is what I believe to be the chorus, or something.

    From 1:35 to 1:45 a soothing part.

From 1:45 to 1:55 something to remind you of the boss, again.

From 1:55 to 2:00 Outro, and loop.

Musically, a very varied and superb theme overall!

  • One of the best Boss-Battle-Themes ever!

  • Why was game music so much better at the 16 bit era?

  • @hamidious well simple: back then there was the glance of adventure and mystic in the developer's eyes, today you only see them like $,$

  • @hamidious I feel you on that one. When I was playing this on snes with my cousin, everytime I heard this music I got all pumped. It was one of the first rpg's that I played, and it was with my cousin. Good times right there.

  • @hamidious Because people actually tried to make good music.

  • @hamidious The reason why the 16 bit era of game music was so excellent was Japan still had the pride to release something excellent to the American market. Before Japanese culture became the norm to Americans, the Japanese actually had to put forth great material

Not hating on Japan, their exports are of the highest quality. A clutch and pressure plate for my car is guaranteed to be excellent compared to a Korean cheap replacement part.

Made in Japan means made not to embarrass.

  • @hamidious probably because they didn't spend all their time on flashy graphics. They scarified plot, intrigue, music, and enjoyability so lightning could do back flips and have a gunblade. Game suck these days. Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Lufia, hell almost any theme in 90's is way better than the crap now.

  • @hamidious because back in the 16 bit era, quality mattered more than money

  • @hamidious Probably because of two reasons:

#1 - the sounds weren't as impressive, so the composers had to do their best on melodies instead.

#2 - video games were newer back then, and therefore more interesting to them.

It's the same with every medium, actually: tons of heart and soul in the beginning, then it goes more and more commercial.

  • @Laurelindo Me too i prefer music of the 8-bits and 16-bits era but some of the 32-bits era are interesting too.

  • @Luirio Some 3D games do have great musical scores though, like Goldeneye 007 and Final Fantasy 9 - those games had exactly the same level of charm as many SNES classics.
