Really wonder what I was doing when this series was on air on channel 5. The story is so touching and made me cry all along till the end.

After finished, I realized why people like to compose another ending for the mermaid. For Luerd Kattiya, i'd rather change too ( like hollywood movies that's changing the prisoner or pretending the punishment and keep Anothai alive so they could meet at the island instead).

And at the end, It' so sad for both who live or die anyway TT^TT.

i think the lakorn is great. it captures the heart of the viewers. but i want to express my own opinion of the ending. he was executed because he planned a propaganda to marry the queen and be the king of the country, which we all believe is a lie not proven at all. those guilty assassins, the prince kemarat and the princess wife, were only banned in the country for 10 years, and they can come back after that period? and probably will mess with the queen (this time) again and again?

whereas anothai who was executed because of false accuse has to die. which one is heavier crime guilty of assassinating the princess (next in line to the throne) or rumor propaganda? but she couldnt do anything. she has the power to warrant his death but she doesnt have the power to spare his life? what happens to the pardon or clemency? he revealed the real culprit who assassinated dara and the real ones who wanted to overtake the country.

if dara is worry about the people that everybody should know she is the strong queen - that whoever betray the country shall die should have made amends of re-trial or re-opening his case. she herself can testify that its a mere false accusation. if prince kemarat accused anothai of using the love of dara to be the king someday, that means queen dara and general (officer/soldier) anothai can marry without questions?

somehow, there are unchaining links at the last 2-3 episodes. i read somewhere that during its airing on tv, the sponsors threatened to withdraw if they do not alter the ending where anothai should live. Again, we all have our own opinion and I respect the directors opinion especially of anothais will to die for the sake of dara. i love you, tik. Well, let us all wait patiently for their next team up again. Their first day taping will start this December 09. forgot the title.

hi. i read somewhere here in youtube (forgot which video link) that one of tik's fans whose mother lives in thailand told her that tik and aom will finally get together again. according to her, their new lakorn will start taping this dec 2009 and it's light romantic drama. she even included the title. i will try to go back to that source and i will let you know so we can contact her for further info.

I've read this novel many times and was scared to watch it. I've cried my eyes out and now have horrible headache. Not often would a novel translate so well into lakorn but this is one rare occasion. Hope to see Tik and Aom together again, maybe as Kobori and Angsumalin.

I think this is similar to the novel " Bucha rak " written by Luang Vijit watakarn, devoted love.. . military , strategy, deplomacy... all in one novel. Anyway, i think it is good to watch since in the beginning, to feel ( inn) with their friendship and relationship, then you will perfectly cry at the end..

i've been heard real events nearly this novel.

it's about a good humble soldier and a noble woman but she had to married with a noble guy(more rich, more position) by her family order.

so after that this soldier becomes famous and powerful commander and he never marry with anyone.(someone told that he used his strength to help his lover quietly)

Hmmm, I think it also has to do with the fact that she's the only heiress to the throne of Yasothorn. If she abdicates her right to become queen, the kingdom may be under real threat as Khemarath is trying to take over the throne from the beginning.

That's why I like this series so much. It's made from a well-written novel that many Thais adore to read over and over :)

as a non thai watchin the whole drama from to start to end, i dont quite understand what is ahppening but I do understand the love between them and that anothai is willing to sacrifice himself for his love. However, I dont understand why he has to die and why the priincess was the one to warrant his death... she doesnt have much choice, but y? And is the divide so strict in thailand that a general and a princess cant marry? Anothai is not just a commoner.

The story is quite complicated to tell you the reason in a word. Though, briefly I can explain that the bad guy (the prince of Khemarath, the neighbour powerful country) tried to discredit Yasothorn's princess by spreading the rumour that Anothai and Dara are lovers and Anothai has a propaganda to subvert the royal power and become king himself, then get Dara to be his queen.

Since the bad guy also had two love letters Anothai wrote to her, Anothai had no choice but to accept that he is guilty but it's a one-sided love and the princess never loves him. So, he's executed for trying to become king, not to love the princess (not directly the reason anyway). The whole reason for this is to keep her image as clean as he can.

OTOH, she had to warrant his death because people need to learn that she's strong enough as a leader to execute anyone who betrays the country, even though it's someone very close to her. That's all his plan. She has no say to it, he got it all sorted by himself, and she had to play along by executing him, otherwise what he's done for her will be in vain.
