Without government regulation, companies could dump toxic waste into water supplies, food products at the market could contain poisons, people would be able to drink and drive. America is a country of balance between recognition of liberty, and recognition that everyone needs to cooperate for the greater good sometimes.

@withjezos I can appreciate the necessity for gov't, & am not opposed to a ruling body. I'm not an anarchist. But things being what they are, it's become apparent that this gov't has become too bureaucratically bloated, and is in dire need of massive cuts. Food products at the market have actually BECOME poisonous because of (or in spite of) over-regulation. Raw meats are colored red with a carcinogenic dye, dietary sweeteners are substituted with aspartame, & water is bottled with BPA chemicals

@ghs1357 Like all socialist systems it collapses unto itself... socialism is not an economic system but a political one, it relies solely on capitalism to survive since wealth must (DUH) be created before it can be redistributed. After people get punished for their success and rewarded for being parasites, wealth creators either leave for more hospitable shores, or simply stop trying so damn hard... wealth diminishes, there are more takers and producers... and it all falls appart... always does.
