I am absolutely staggered that there appears to be no legal requirement to secure dangerous facilities such as these in the US? What a waste of young lives...
We watched this video yesterday at an offshore safety meeting. Very well done. Prayers for the families impacted by this avoidable accident. Hopefully the increased awareness brought about by this video will result in better protection of existing hazards until they are cleaned up and prevent further suffering by other families.
What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. I will always love you guys.
Mississippi is a country-mile behind California when it comes to securing tank farms and other well sites. Here I know for certain there must be a fence 6 feet high surrounding any well site and I'm almost certain that also applies to tank farms.
This video was made solely to prevent this from ever happening again to another person. Anyone that has children should watch this and discuss the dangers with them.
Barriers need to be up for kids who don't know the dangers. Law Enforcement was absolutely spot on with their observations and questions. I recently lost my son to a terrible accidents. I know the questions and "What if's."
My prayers are truly with the family and their friends. Their lives will never be the same. We have all lost the opportunity to know some wonderful young men.
I am very sorry to hear of you losing your son. I know the pains and long nights you have been through. This danger was NOT one that I was aware of or anyone in the community. My concern that day was to know he was off of the road. I mistakenly thought he was safe at that point. He hunted all of the time and apparently his friend, Wade that was also killed, hunted at this spot all of the time. Please inform everyone you know of this danger. Thank you for your positive comments.
this touches me because my teacher in 6 th grade was devons aunt and she showed this to me i remeber trying not to cry

By the time this video was made this site should have been secured! Why wasn't that immediately required of the company owning the site?

Yes, it's up to the states. The production tanks I've seen here in Calif. are fenced off.
