It is simple, where did the bible come from? There was no bible for almost 400 years. If there was no bible then the Church of Jesus preceded the bible. It was the authority of the Church that determined which books were consistent with the Traditional teachings of Jesus and His Church. Thus the Church that canonized the bible has the authentic interpretation of the bible.

There are TENS of thousands of denominations/sects worldwide, each with their own interpretation of roughly the same limited scripture. There at least as many distinctive beliefs as their are denominations, and in reality, much more. This is why the claim that the bible offers an objective moral standard rather than a subjective one simply does not pass the laugh test. It takes a special sort of mind to suggest that "worship this god or be stoned to death" constitutes morality.

You make a very good point. I'm Jewish and a yeshiva student, so the whole christianity business is for obvious reasons transparent based on what Torah does say. But, I'm fairly confident you did the best job articulating, without having to point out the fact that there is a complete language barrier between your average gentile bible reader and the Torah which he/she reads. All translations of something in a different language are a commentary on the original text which is invariably misleading

@SinCara151, sorry, the bible does not say that Jesus went to hell for three days, but it does say in Peter (1st or 2nd, I don't remember) that he went to the prison of the dead to teach them. You can interpret that to be hell but that doesn't really resemble a flaming trash heap spoken about in the gospels, nor a lake of fire spoken of in the book of Revelation.
The one thing I can agree with you on. Christians are not interpreting the bible correctly. And you forget to add it is a book stitched together from ancient texts and translated from foreign languages and are representative of ancient cultures that we no longer understand. Just because there are there multiple interpretations of a text, it does not fallow that there is no objectively true interpretation.
Perhaps many Christians are off from the objective interpretation, perhaps some more than others.

There is no preserved source on Jesus or his successors that is not ultimately a translation of Greek sources. To go back to the Hebrew would be to reject Jesus entirely, as well as the "Whore of Babylon" described in Revelation.

Most denominations are the result of the divide and conquer tactics from the Jesuits, to keep people spiritually blind and prevent God's Holy Spirit from leading and guiding into all truth. Ignorance, deception and destraction, have always been the main tools to keep people from knowing and understanding God.
@Ramohog First my God is more powerful than Satan. I don't think anything that Satan does can hinder God at all. That is to say that Satan is somewhat of an equal with God. The problem is that people are willing to follow people. Whatever with all the different groups of Christians that are out there. Satan will deceive the whole world since he is the God of this world and has blinded the spiritual eyes (2 Cor 4:4), but God is still in control. God's inspired Word is our safeguard against deception and the only way to test the spirits whether they are from God or not. Jesus is the mediator between us and God (1 Tim 2:5) and the only way to God (John 14:6)

@Superroovejero Jesus knocks on the door of believers to come out of darkness. This verse was written to the church, because many have closed their hearts to the true gospel and walk around deceived. Satan can keep us in darkness through sin or lack of knowledge, wisdom or understanding. God has done everything to reveal Himself, we need to respond to His revelations and His manifestation in order to know and understand His ways, so we won't be so easily deceived.

That's how we test the spirits and by meditating on it we will get revelation from it. Secondly, all of those denominations always fall into one of two categories- those who take the Bible literally, and those who deviated from it.

It is simple, where did the bible come from? There was no bible for almost 400 years. If there was no bible then the Church of Jesus preceded the bible. It was the authority of the Church that determined which books were consistent with the Traditional teachings of Jesus and His Church. Thus the Church that canonized the bible has the authentic interpretation of the bible.

There are TENS of thousands of denominations/sects worldwide, each with their own interpretation of roughly the same limited scripture. There at least as many distinctive beliefs as their are denominations, and in reality, much more. This is why the claim that the bible offers an objective moral standard rather than a subjective one simply does not pass the laugh test. It takes a special sort of mind to suggest that "worship this god or be stoned to death" constitutes morality.

But, I'm fairly confident you did the best job articulating, without having to point out the fact that there is a complete language barrier between your average gentile bible reader and the Torah which he/she reads. All translations of something in a different language are a commentary on the original text which is invariably misleading

@SinCara151, sorry, the bible does not say that Jesus went to hell for three days, but it does say in Peter (1st or 2nd, I don't remember) that he went to the prison of the dead to teach them. You can interpret that to be hell but that doesn't really resemble a flaming trash heap spoken about in the gospels, nor a lake of fire spoken of in the book of Revelation.

Only Catholicism (west and some eastern) recognizes a centralized a authority of interpretation of sacred scriptures. So the way to deal with this is to return to the source. The closest form of Christianity to that around the time that The Bible was written are old calendar Eastern Orthodox Churches. You listed Unitarian as a christian denomination. I looked it up on Google and the science theory sounded dumb. It said that my mind woke up while my body was asleep. that made no sense. I mean if you think about it. Even if my belief is wrong It doesn't hurt to try to believe. I mean after all most Atheist's think the creation of the world is a coincidence xD

Which, btw, does make sense. :P Your body NEEDS to be paralyzed with a chemical so you don't ACT OUT dreams in your sleep. Sometimes your brain wakes up before your body retreats the chemical. But hey! If you want to believe, you're free to. I just hate when religion denies intelligence and knowledge just to prove their specific beliefs right.

I do believe in religion, cause I told you, I'm a Pagan. But I believe it needs to stay out of other people's business and needs to stay personal. That means if schools want to teach science, let them. Creationism isn't something everyone agrees upon. Science is. The Noah's ark was admitted to be a hoax, btw. I looked into it :P

There is no preserved source on Jesus or his successors that is not ultimately a translation of Greek sources. To go back to the Hebrew would be to reject Jesus entirely, as well as the "Whore of Babylon" described in Revelation.

The Bible explains itself by reading in proper context and taking earlier and later revelations in consideration. It is true that organized religion is a form of reversed psychology mind control to fool the masses, but the Bible exposes all of them.
You obviously do not have the spiritual discernment to separate truth from deception, which leaves you susceptible for subconscious mind control. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

@Superroovejero Knowledge on foundational truths backed up by prophecy and documented history. Satan is a master at compartmentalizing truth, so you'll miss the big picture. Most denominations are the result of the divide and conquer tactics from the Jesuits, to keep people spiritually blind and prevent God's Holy Spirit from leading and guiding into all truth. Ignorance, deception and destraction, have always been the main tools to keep people from knowing and understanding God.

The problem is that people are willing to follow people. Whatever with all the different groups of Christians that are out there. Satan will deceive the whole world since he is the God of this world and has blinded the spiritual eyes (2 Cor 4:4), but God is still in control. God's inspired Word is our safeguard against deception and the only way to test the spirits whether they are from God or not. Jesus is the mediator between us and God (1 Tim 2:5) and the only way to God (John 14:6)

@Superroovejero Jesus knocks on the door of believers to come out of darkness. This verse was written to the church, because many have closed their hearts to the true gospel and walk around deceived. Satan can keep us in darkness through sin or lack of knowledge, wisdom or understanding. God has done everything to reveal Himself, we need to respond to His revelations and His manifestation in order to know and understand His ways, so we won't be so easily deceived.

Then there are so many books now that claim to be the word of God... how can we know what book to believe? When I was 17 I told God that I didn't want to warship the god of my parents for the reason that they were my parents so he would be my god. I prayed to the God that was powerful enough to answer. He did, and He didn't use His book, He used Word.

That's how we test the spirits and by meditating on it we will get revelation from it. Hebrews 4:12 tells us the power of God's Word, and Psalm 138:2 the importance, since God always keeps and protects His Word!

You make a very, very valid point in this video. The root of the error here, which is incredibly prominent in modern Protestants unfortunately, is the idea that we can all interpret the Bible how we see fit. However, this is nearly impossible to do properly when you cut off your theological roots. The Catholic Church has passed down its tradition of understanding the Word of God, which allows the meaning of the particular passage to be maintained as it was understood by the audience it addressed

First of all, if the subject is really Bible interpretation, you shouldn't bring up what these people or those people think, unless you can compare it what the bible says (which you didn't).
Secondly, all of those denominations always fall into one of two categories- those who take the Bible literally, and those who deviated from it.
