I really doubt he actually hates Bowie. The man goes back and forth on his remarks throughout the years, like a normal person. He doesn't censor himself at all so he says things that he later disagrees with, and so do you. It is a perfectly reasonable conclusion to come to that David Bowie's quality of work has declined through the years, and this is coming from a devout Bowie follower.
bowie has been embarrasing since 1980. the strength of his 70s work is unrivalled but letes not pretend he;s untouchable. Oh and i had to chuckle with idea of gorillaz being a great band.
@pythonbyte Yeah pretty right really. it's a shame because Low and Hunky Dory are perfect but I guess everyone has a limited amount of albums in them, whether it be caused by the band breaking up or a long drawn out solo (see: Bob Dylan). Also Morrissey isn't doing perfect solo, not much at all, Viva Hate, Bona Drag and Vauxhall and I are brilliant though. This is good too, but I prefer not listening to his new solo albums.
this is the first time i'm hearing Morrissey. He's actually better than i expected. His voice tone is amazing, and the fact that he covered a David Bowie song makes me very happy. =D
@herbpixie Hi Mate, It's probably contractual. Bowie covered 'I know it's going to happen' on black tie white noise etc... In my opinion, Morrisey's remark about Bowie being famous 'by accident' is reprehensible. The Smiths were superb and the last great English band, but Morrisey is not fit to sniff the steam off Bowie's p-ss. Having said that, this is a great cover of a beautiful song.

@alexandermorison I love Bowie's cover of that song. Morrissey runs his mouth a lot. I thought it was pretty classy of David to not even acknowledge the vitriol he was spouting. Do the Gorillaz count as an English band? If so, I may have to disagree with your assessment of The Smiths. :-) But they were awesome, and Marr is fantastic with Modest Mouse.
Glad someone put this Swords version up, such an awesome cover. The ending is superb, I love it when he really gets passionate in his singing! Now, we have to find someone who recorded it live!
Love how Mozzer sings "buddy."

Much better than I expected. Morrissey has a surprising grip at bathos. Who's Kris the Wonder Kid, then, I wonder?
colintron 7 months ago
@colintron Its actually "Twig the wonder kid" which is the name of bowies saxophone, kris is whoever morissey wants him/her to be?
mrjellyman59 6 months ago
@mrjellyman59 Yeah, I know the original words (although I presumed it referred to Twiggy, so thanks!). I wonder who Morrissey's wonder kid is.
colintron 6 months ago
@mrjellyman59 actually "Twig the wonder kid" is the model Twiggy aka Lesley Hornby

The Smiths...the only band that matters. <3 Morrissey, even if he likes to talk smack.

If this eunuch ever opens for God again, I'm going to show him what the word "Genocide" means. Morrissey: YOU SUCK.

@CortanaOfHell Morrissey hates Bowie (a black mark against him in my book). Not sure why he covered this song.
