  • Man, he sure likes to keep going back for arms ammo. I usually just keep going and never double back if I can help it. I want the points from the remaining time. I see we both use the "fire into the next section" tactic to walk the bullets forward and kill enemies before they can even see you. It seems kind of cheap, but if the game lets you do it then it's fair game.

  • I love this for PSP

  • I know a way to get BEHIND scenes as well invincible in the last level...anyone else know about it? No BULLSHIT i actually had a dream about it and d it as an experiment..

  • why is the main dude laughing, you just massacred about 2000 of his men and nicked thousands of rounds of ammo, and youre coming for him!.. never got this far before, the fire men and the cats etc seem very un-rolling thunder... good playing tho and really enjoying seeing this.. I used to pump many 10p coins into this on caravan holidays

  • always loved this, still do

  • 4:35 used to Grrrrrrr me all the time..

  • This was my favorite Nintendo game back long ago. And I remember doing all that hopping around. You learn early on, it's the only way to get through obstacles. :)

  • One of the hardest games of the arcade era IMO.

  • Thanks! (Haven't seen the original screen/gameplay in almost 20 years) I never did have the time to learn to get past the "lava men" back in the day, but loved the game just the same. (The ONLY arcade game that gave me more than I deserved for just one, single quarter...NAMCO did the gaming world justice with this classic.

  • same people who did this game, also made "SHINOBI"

  • sam fisher has nothing on this guy

  • this used to be in the SANDUSKY mall when the MALL CINEMA was still ...uh , in the MALL!!

  • Never realized how close the game is to Shinobi while playing it. Just seeing it in action makes it pretty obvious.

  • Actually, just realized that it came out in one year before Shinobi. So even if one game ripped the other off, Rolling Thunder is the original.

  • People say "look at this old game, its dated, etc" but really, how is this any different from call of duty? You shoot spawning bad guys, duck and hide in doorways and behind crates, get better guns, etc.

  • @xg4bx Anyway, wtf do they expect...it is 25 years old.

  • thats gang like rapist the your friend

run run run or your enemies fuck your female friend

    hahahahahaha

  • The MG exploit is awesome--I did do it in the arcade, but until this video I hadn't bothered at home. I prefer speed running. The guy playing it definetely has the patterns down. Lately, I've been too twitchy and getting myself shot at ridiculously rookie occasions.

  • that MG exploit is cracking me up. i guess nobody here played the arcade version, cause this is a BIG DEAL.

  • the enemies used to scare the shit out of me xD

  • It always freaked me out how those guys melted.

  • that music is pure ecstasy.

  • The enemies look like funky versions of the Klu Klux Klan

  • You can get this game for PSP- the Namco Museum Battle Collection has tons of games, including this one.

  • The music in this game ROCKS.

  • Some of these guys are totally innocent. They just walk out of the bathroom, satisfied with the feeling of a great shit--then you come along and shoot them!

  • @d21lewis

    If I had a nickle ;D

  • Just an observation:

Does RT promote racial equality? You have members of the KKK (in bright, garish-colored hoods) and black panthers attacking you. Don't flame me, it's just something I noticed :-)

  • does anyone know where I could buy this game in good condition? Any info is appreciated, thanks

  • @shitonMOHAMMAD

    Check Craigslist.

I payed $300. for my Rolling Thunder Arcade game.

    They go for less now.

  • @WodNad

    that's insane!!!

  • Machine gun FTW! (Then the bullets ran out..)

Hey! I didnt know that bullet refill trick on level 2!! Im gonna play the hell out of this now :)

  • this game is freaking hard, and doesn't have continues, fuck!

  • That green alien guy at the game over screen used to scare me. Noit anymore. I can make it further than my bully cousin at it now.

  • I myself have Namco Museum 50th Anniversary for PS2 as well. I played Rolling Thunder and I almost could never ever make it through the lava level and when I finally made it to the next level, IT WENT COMPLETELY FROZED ON ME!!

  • Dude, you rock, and I suck! LOL

  • Anyone else ever pretend this was a Lupin the 3rd game?

  • Great game from my childhood but It looks like they are Sieg Heiling at 2:46 lol

  • When that face came out at the end, for some reason I was expecting: "Welcome to your doom!" ...Love the animation in this game. I used to play it back in the day but died so fast, cuz I was like... 6 or so.

  • I use to play this in the Variety Store many years ago when I was a child.............Wow...Let the good times roll!!

  • That game is so fucking old look at techoilgy now days wow a big differnce

  • @justin2raw ,your point?

  • i have the game on namco museum 50th anniversary game for ps2, great arcade games

  • this brings back sooo many memories, thanks for posting this

  • Damn i was 12 when this came out and i used to play it to death!!! :) Excellent game!!!

  • WOW! My favorite game of all time!!

I could never finish it, i came to the last area and the big boss but i could never finish him off.

So me and him still got a date.

I hope one day they make a IPhone app. of this cool game.

If anybody know how i can get this game/download PLEASE let me know.

  • One of the greatest old arcade games ever...A TOTAL classic...I remember being so scared of this game when I was just a kid in the old (and great) arcades.

All the different colors of the maskers, the music, etc...Just awesome. LOVE IT!

  • @djfakt

If anybody know how i can get this game/download PLEASE let me know.

  • i never made it past story 1 area 4

  • This is some of the best music in a videogame. The bongos and the bridge give me eargasms.

  • Looking at the enemies now though, and camply dressed KKK springs to mind...

  • The hours I spent playing this. It was one of the only games where you could make 10p last forever!

  • Luv how they torture Leila.

  • @GokuMcDuck Congratulations, you're a creep.

  • @Fastokker

Better a creep than a tool. lol

  • @Fastokker

Well, whatever suits, the man... err... duck... err... whatever.

  • If anyone wants to listen to the music to this game just follow these easy steps:

    1. Download the rom and run it on MAME.

    2. Press tab when the game starts up and go to the Dip Switches option.

    3. Turn service mode on.

After that, there will be a sound test option right on the screen for PSG, FM or Voice. Then press left or right to select songs and press the button you use to make your character shoot and the music will start playing. If anyone needs help just send me a message.

  • CLASSIC!! FUCK YEAH!

  • Rolling Thunder ARCADE(score 1,023,380)1 credit (PLAYER Darren Evans)

Watch it at my account .

  • @1dosucol1

WOW! My favorite game of all time!!

If anybody know how i can get this game/download PLEASE let me know.

  • Code Name Viper plays just like Rolling thunder accept it is a different character, different enemies and a different game company(Capcom).

  • this game on the N.E.S sucks cornflakes ,lol ...sega better graphics,, sega/playstation number 1.

  • Does anyone have the first level's music as an mp3 file? I NEED this.

  • This game was the bomb.

  • I bet the crime boss got sick of ordering all those different coloured costumes!

  • skills at 5:47

  • Loved this game as a kid.

Those hooded dudes sure had one hell of a huge-ass flat screen set up going on there, hope they sprung for the surround sound!

  • Man, I spent so much on that game! I used to work at a 7-11 when I was young and as soon as I got off work, it was rolling thudner! This game and the MUSIC was a classic!!!! God it brings back memories, I would even take dates there to play the game!

  • I had no idea you could go back and get more bullets like that. What a cool idea.

  • 1:30 the music becomes epic. I LOVE that part

  • i never made it past the first level...then again I was 7

  • I love this game.

  • So this is what Race Bannon did before being assigned to the Quest team. XD

  • LOL iggy!! thumbs up

  • Thanks! If any retro game franchise deserved to be brought into the 21st century and modernized (but not ruined), Rolling Thunder would be a great choice. It would great as a tactical FPS with James Bond overtones.

  • some things are better left alone. and this is one of them. but what do you expect from the "rehash generation"

  • A fellow Quest fan, eh? \8-D

  • This is from 1986? Amazing. You can clearly see that the architecture beats that of any Genesis game, probably any SNES game too. The animation is so detailed, so many frames. Such an imaginative game, too.

  • Brings back memories for sure!

  • This game was the best :)

  • I stopped watching after the 5th time or so he went back to get more machine gun bullets. Really annoying,

  • What the fuck are you talking about ? this shit is tight ! , i been playing this game from way back . . jason bourne espionage shit right here , biatch !

  • Hey, I'm not saying it's a bad technique; it allows him to have an almost endless supply of machine gun. Just saying it makes for some pretty boring watching.

  • Roger Dat Son , Rolling Thunder Rules ! 80's arcades were the fuckin bomb ! today's arcades are sad dude . . . Spy Hunter & Rolling Thunder Forever ! !

  • this game is similar shinobi

  • i was just now lookin thru the classic games on the wii and ran across this for download, lol!!

  • The music in this game was bad ass.

  • these guys scared me as a kid, with their masks. who were they really?? i always wondered. i thoguht the ending was that you removed their masks

  • ib other games she's blonde

  • i wish to have the link to the emulator and the game too!

    please help!!!!!!!!!!

  • Used to play this @ the arcade back in the day...fun game and loved the music, though I still don't understand the point of having a life bar when all it took to kill you was 2 hits!

  • this game and guanlet were my most favorite arcade games as a kid of all time.

  • Also played Gauntlet a good bit back in the day. :-) As for the MAME emulator, you can get it @ CoolROMs, along w/just about every arcade title you can think of.

  • thank you kindly sir!

  • two punches or one bullet my friend.

  • @WhatsAYak cuz with a gun you think you're invincible however the reality is you can only take 2 gun shots

  • @WhatsAYak at least the NES Version was realistic enough to put just 2 energy boxes instead of a full health bar

  • @andy5421 - Exactly...that made much more sense than an entire health bar that only takes 2 hits to completely drain.

  • Check out Mabu do the dance move from "Thriller" at 2:43.

  • oohh man I remember wasting soooo many quarters on this one!

  • 8:34 she hot i'd do her... :p

  • she an ugly ass

  • uh, its been a while but I'm pretty sure that this game is slightly different then the one I played on NES, must be because this one is arcade.

  • can someone tell me what the hell is this all about? It was always a random James Bond-esque endless incompatent henchman evil syndacate thing with a secret lab that plays church music to an homage of chick torture.

  • Lol ! :D

  • schmuck

  • excellent.

  • i love the way he jumps...

  • this reminds me of codename: viper. does this game have any relation to the 1977 film of the same name?

  • Codename: Viper is a Rip-Off/'Homage (Depending on how you view the game)' of/to Rolling Thunder. It's also WAY harder than Rolling Thunder, if that was ever possible...

  • Anyone have an mp3 of the music for the first level?

  • Hi ,

I'm looking the same thing and it's very difficult to find .

  • Right now, it's the one bit of videogame music that I can't find. I just spent all morning looking for it and I just can't find it anywhere. On a lighter note, I did manage to find an MP3 for the music of Rastan. I don't know if you remember that game but it had some pretty good music.

  • they dont make lava levels like they used to.

  • I used to play this all the time at the arcades, which are a rarity nowadays. The music on dis game ROCKS!

  • BIG BATS!

  • Now that's what's being a gamer is all about! Excellent skills, dude!

  • once I got to the screen with the damn panthers I would lose...:(

  • i hate this game. why? you die too fast! you have 8 units of life and you die in 2 hits! 1 if you get shot. which is bullshit

  • How comes your rom works and mine doesnt?

  • does anyone know if i can download it from somewhere for PC windows ?

    plssssss

    thx

  • I love that scream they do when they die.

I love this game so much

  • Oh the memories! This game still rocks! What's the name of that game that's kinda like this except it's stationary robots and at the begining it says " Come stay awhile, stay forever!"?

  • Impossible Mission from Epyx.

  • Yeah! That was it on Commodore 64. It's amazing how much gaming has changed since the 80's.

  • Whoa- you can go back for more machine gun bullets???? Aw CRAP, I didn't know that.

    (Then or now) hehe

    Thanks for posting.

  • ok...so why the HELL did the NES version only give you two bars on the life meter????

  • Like someone else mentioned, I sure wish I'd have known about being able to backtrack for more machine gun bullets twenty years ago.....

    You're a heluva player!

  • That game had such good graphics/ was so much fun, we just stole tokens from the backs of lesser games to play it over and over and over..

  • Skills. Is that a glitch how you can keep going back to grab machine gun bullets?

  • One of my all time favorite games!!! I miss arcades so much...

  • This game rocks! But it's hard!

  • The original Shinobi arcade game has the same challenge as Rolling Thunder.

  • Nah... Rolling Thunder is waaaay harder. And longer.

  • This game kicked ass back then, and it still does to this day. Very fun to play, and if you have Namco Museum 50th Anniversary for PS2/GC/XBOX, then you'll be lucky to play this gem again.

  • It is also on Namco Museum Battle Collection on PSP

  • yeah I have it
