i've been playing KoF since kof 96 but discovered many new things from ur guides , Great work man , i always wanted to do a guide like that , i might make one for soul calibur
WOW. I've been playing KOF for years and had no idea about the whole short hop cycle. AMAZING. Guess it shows how much of a noob i am. Thank you for these awesome vids!!
My only complaint (and I mean only) is that sometimes it's too hard to read the text while watching the action on screen. A little delay like text for a second or two and then action and text or action plays out once with no text and again with text. As it is now I have to pause sometimes and go back to take in everything. Otherwise it's just great.
Yeah, there are a couple places with several clips strung together and it's hard to catch the text. In the next part they are a bit slower when there are a lot of video clips showing or something that takes a second to read, like a weird command.
Man, so much of this stuff seems like you need to be able to time inputs to specific frames with nigh-perfect precision... can mortals really expect to attain that level of skill?
These videos fill a huge gap in the learning curve of the fighting game genre - great job!
The precision involved really depends on which characters you use. Some characters have retardedly anal links (or even chains!), others you can do in your sleep. The key to getting competent at KOF really isn't so much fixating on combo skill as it is on basic reactive ability and proper buffering. Due to the relative safety and speed of overhead-low-throw mixup in KOF, you have to react very quickly. Buffering in situations where you expect to catch somebody out of a move is part of reaction.
Really good video. Even though i'm not a beginner, but when i saw this vid i was thinking: "yes this is true" i always played with my instinct without realising exactely why using a move rather than an other. i was just trying every way of striking in every situation until i found the right attack for the right moment. with these 2 first vids, it is really clear for beginners. i stopped playing a while ago but this guide make me wanna play agan. Thanks for the vid
i think he's meaning : to break the oponent atack while garding using CD.
well i guess it will work, but depending on wich character you are using, cause each one have a different CD annimation, so the CD of some characters will not hit the opponent if he's performing a specific attack (jump croutching or standing attacks)
coool dude.....i hope in next part u will tell us which type of jump and attack counters down+C of kyo,ryu and chris....and they combo also...i need to know about that.....whenever i go for a crossup or short hop i eat a down C....also some moves need space to counter....like ryu's stand b or benimaru's how to counter those and keep ur offense.....
FYI, stun is also absent from both non-SNK KOFs ('01 & '02). Probably because Eolith (who developed '01 and took out the stun) decided that it was just a little too harsh on new players, who would likely get hit with more frequency, and, thus, end up eating even more free combos when attempting to fight experts. It seems SNK/Playmore has learned their lesson, too, with stun being absent from XII. Instant overheads are dumb anyway. ESPECIALLY in non-console XI. Stupid bullshit air attack hitstun.
Dude, he did explain how to counter jump ins with low b's, but he said in PART 1 that he WASN'T going to explain how to COMBO. You can find combos yourself. That's easy. The mindgames and meta-mind games of KOF are hard to learn; that's what this tutorial is for.
Man nothing quite like getting coached by Kyo lol
