@Lucidfreud Hi ya my name is carol when me and my family looked at this video i did think it was me i was 98% sure so you can tell your mum she has a double thanx for letting me know xx
hi ya all can anyone answer my question the lady on the operation table?i went into hospitial a few weeks ago and wanted to find the name of my cancer so i typed in what it said on my file came home and put it in and im 99% this is me that has given me a big shock i dont know how i feel right now
great video im getting my thyroid taken out in about 2 weeks im 21 and have a 18 month old daughter i wanted to see how the surgery was im kinda scared
when the underlying cause is cancer, you have to take it totally out, if there is another cause which can be corrected with medications then there is no need to take it out
@scryerofold if its enlarged may cause compression on structures around also in this cause it could be malignant there is different reasons to take the decision to take it out
Before doing this get many many opinions from different specialists. Do research yourself as well... Not having a thyroid is debilitating... meds for life.
research this completely before going this route! After this surgery you will be dependant on meds for LIFE. There are other options, exhaust those first.
Yes but if there is a small amount of large nodules, they could be malignant and surgery is required. However if the ultrasound scan show multiple small nodules it can be corrected with medication, as the nodules are benign and it is a typical case of Grave's disease.
Anyhow always see more than one doctor in such cases.
Hi,,, no worrys.. I had this done back in 84 its not such a big deal apart from some discomfort the first few days... I need to take levothyrxine now but all is ok.... so go ahead dont worry.
Risks : Immediate : Damage to Superior & inferior Thyroid Arteries ==> Hematoma & compression on the upper airways Damage to the Recurrent laryngeal & superior Thyroid nerves ==> Changes in voice pitch & laryngeal muscles Perforation of the tracheal muscles Damage to the surrounding Main vessels ( Carotid & jugular ) Removal of the Parathyroid in the first week : Infection of the wound Hypothyroidism Other than the risk of General anesthesia Not that hypothyroidism is inevitable
How hard it is to embrace the idea that radiation can really solve a malady that some countries most routinely deal with by surgery? It's most odd, to me. That may prove to be my least forward-looking-seeming viewpoint ever, but there you go. It looks a bit wanton to me from 40,000 feet though!. :-)

Why take it out if it's not working. Why not just give replacement meds.

Hack and slash is the last resort. But . . . . sometimes it's the best option. Become very well informed before any surgery.
