This is a very good renderer. I originally sought it out because I am a mac user who could not STAND the uglyness of cleartype fonts. However, I am having huge issues with google chrome and I believe it's related. The project is outdated and I have mixed feelings about it.
The greyscale glyph rendering in Linux is abysmal. Cleartype does not respect the shapes of any fonts as intended by the typographers (except the specialized MS clear type fonts). The result is that different fonts look the same or absolutely not like intended. GDI++ allows for truer font rendering at the cost of visual sharpness with smaller fonts. The average Joe doesn’t know about typesetting and is too used to the crappy MS look to appreciate the gain in visual quality and truer WYSIWYG.
@MyDoominateR haha, I agree with ya mate. I made this video for an irl friend who wanted the same thing but didn't know much at all about computers. I had to explain every detail ;P Might make a shorter version if I have time
Thankyou for the vidio and the alternative to gdi++. I am so happy with this and glad I found your video. I Love it way better then the crappy cleartype. I will never use the crappy piece of dog crap cleartype again.
Bad. Very bad. I installed this as service, and every time I got text on the screen I just got a popup saying that GDIpp Hook crashed. Luckily, I had a chance to uninstall it and leave GDI++.
Is there any way to modify (tweak) the level of blurriness/smoothness in this program? I tried looking for it in All Programs, but couldn't find it so I'm guessing it only runs in the background without a UI. But I gotta be honest, on XP, I'm seeing more progress with the OS X font rendering in Safari 5 than with this app :(
Please tell us a way to tweak the blurriness as you suggested in a comment to @jybuys.
Thank you sooo much for sharing your discovery. I have an old SSE1 processor and GDI++ never worked for me, so I'm very happy that you discovered and brought this to our attention.
I just have one question before I install this app: if I don't like what I see, can I uninstall it like any other application using revo uninstaller or, is there a special way to uninstall this? I'm only asking just to be sure.
This really is the best one I think, better than gdi++, but it does not render any internet browser texts unfortunately.

Ce logiciel fonctionne comme un charme, contrairement à GDI++.
Merci beaucoup!
