  • Great video!!!! Just wish that we could drive that speed....ROFLMAO!!!!!

  • @mackdetroit4life Thanks!

  • @mackdetroit4life yeah what is the limit something like 45 in there? ridiculous...and probably full of cameras and cops too knowing how they do things in "Mass"...

  • @nastyrocket Yeah, you can't drive too fast in there 'cause it gets a little tight and some of the curves in the tunnel don't seem long enough to warrant a speed more than 45mph.

  • Someone was just killed in that Southbound tunnel because they got out of their car after being sideswiped and someone ran them over.

  • Awesome video

  • GO RED SOX GO CS GO PATS GO BRUINS!!!!!!

  • no traffic jam...I like it.

  • welcome to boston the following are optional speed limits stopsigns yeld signs directionals you pass in any lane and if you are old you pull out on the highway and drive 20m.p.h. & winter is more fun really atleast the potholes are filled with snow

  • That was excellent.

  • @musoderelict Thank you, be sure to check out my Boston HD videos!

  • @ 0:58 yellow one

  • A few months ago I I heard that a few light fixtures fell due to corrosion by salt and water. No injuries involved. How many light fixtures are in the tunnels?

  • @cyanidechrist I have no idea, but that is pretty interesting.

  • you are going pretty fast there buddy, probably 90 mph I would guess.

  • @UserRelated -Uhhh the video is sped up about 4x, I'm within 5-10 MPH of the speed limit.

  • @UserRelated haha your dumb

  • @ahn4694 -Well played sir!

  • @ahn4694 it appears as though jokes don't transfer well online

  • @UserRelated The video is way faster than 90 mph, try 200-300 mph on some of these videos

  • @andtheyreoff217 read my other comment below for my response kind sir.

  • that city looks awesome

  • Lets go Celtics beat L.A!! -TX

  • Lets go Boston Celtics!! -TX

  • they used this music in Encino Man, the scene which he takes off in the car during Drivers Ed. HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

  • stupid yanks!! fuck your city and fuck your freeway...lol

  • boston, ma is about to experience some changes

  • most expensive roads mile by mile, in the nation

  • que ciudad tan chingona jamas la olvidare!!

  • yo se boston es lo mejor de donde eres?

    Boston is the best

  • soy de tampico, tamps, mexico, pero vivi en RI, CT y NYC, de vez en cuando iba con mis amigos a ciudades de MA, NH, Maine.

    saludos.

  • Once you pass that last curve and cross underneath that railroad bridge, you're on an auld, auld freeway that was originally built in the 1950s and extensively remodeled in the 1980s.

  • I LOVEEEE BOSTON(:

    MY CITYYY!!!

  • How many people live in Boston? Just curious.

  • I think the Metro Area is about 4.5 Million or so, the city itself is approx. 600,000.

  • technically, metro boston has 7.5 million people, if you go by CSA measurements, and that includes people from southern NH, RI, and eastern CT, along with residents from central and eastern MA (minus the Cape). CSA is more accurate as it takes into account commuting patterns and "sphere of influence". This would make metro boston 5th largest in the US.

But there is 4.5 million that live in greater boston, which is a subdivision of metro boston.

  • I've only been to mass once with the hubby in 2005 and I love all the winding roads and the trees that are everywhere,in fact I've begged him to move our family there.

  • how is the title of this song, or who is the interpreter of this song

  • "Get the hell out of here" by Steve Vai.

  • Watching this i'm realizing I better get my driving skills back. I forgot how we "MASSHOLES DRIVE!!

  • I'm on my way back Tuesday! You stopped at the exit in Revere that I'll be taking to go back to Everett. I don't like going through Chelsea because of those lighs on Reveah beach pahkway! lol

  • you just gotta know and study the city. fucking own it. Yes, taking the T is a great way to get to Boston but if you're like me to rather drive. The Big Dig started in 1988(21 years) ago and is supposed to be completely finished by 2012. Major Headaches, Major Costs, but so far it has somewhat ileavated the traffic nightmare. I liked the video. Some of the captions were funny, some of them made us look like idiots, saying our city is awful. B+.

  • I never said your city is awful so chill, I am from the area (NH) originally).

  • I suppose. Anyway I love your work and I love the music you use. I'm a big highway buff myself. The Dallas tour is epic.

  • Thanks, have you seen the latest Boston videos in HD?

  • the video makes it look harder than it really is but then again if you can driv ein Boston you can drive anywhere!! I love driving in but def take the T if you work there ChEaPeR

  • En verdad que Boston es una ciudad realmente bonita e impresionante. Felicidades!

  • i was just in boston and ny. didnt get to see the big dig...just the bridge. and i got to go through the lincoln tunnel (which took forever). btw...yankees and red sox both suck.

  • wow see y take the trolleys?

  • this is so cool--it reminds me of a guitar hero video!

  • Neat video. However, this looks terribly confusing. If this is what you must deal with when commuting where you live, than I am sympathetic that you have to navigate such a labyrinth over there. Coming from a military family who lived all over the USA, cities seem to be easier to navigate and more grid like the more west you go it seems.

  • I don't live in Boston, or anywhere near it.

It's a tough city to get around, that's for certain.

  • Park your car and take the T. Driving in Boston is for suckers.

  • That point is indeed true my friend, what you have to remember is that as we go further out west the cities are younger and so built to a certain ground plan/more modern, i mean boston was first a city back in the days before even the revolution happended

  • Thanks!

I re-filmed it in HD last week (day and night)., new videos will coming at some point.

  • hey freewayjim, i travel these roads quite fequently, and this is the first time i've found someone who has echoed the same feelings i have had about the big dig.

while i'm in favor of how it improved the city, your comments are, i'm sure, exactly how most of us bostonians feel about it's construction and it's ride.

you have the pulse beat of beantown!

  • Go Yankees & Giants, i'd like to see a tunnel like that going under Manhattan connecting NJ 495 (Lincoln tunnel) and I-495 (midtown tunnel)

  • its cool out there

  • lol. im so use to that route. lovee my city.

  • YANKEES SUCK!

  • The Red sox have won only two rings since 1918 and now we find out it was because of STERIODS???

    LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

they're a fuckin joke, just pitiful

  • Boston!!!!

  • Who says LA doesn't have a subway? I've taken it. They operate on the honor system too, it's weird.

  • what about those silly subways they were gonna put in la?? im in detroit and we have the least mass transit, mabe to miami who is also bad but at least has cabbies

  • i'm proud of my city!

  • That was so cool!

  • I can't believe other US city's don't do the same thing that Boston did. Some can really use it.

  • other city's don't have the resources nor the senators (kennedy) to convince the federal government to hand them a trillion dollars as boston did...consider boston lucky.

  • Consider Boston as an example. You would be surprised how much even the smallest changes can help.

  • they will do the same in Seattle replacing the Alaskan way Viaduct !! They always compare it to Boston's big dig

  • @wimpie25 Yeah $4Billion a mile, we should do it everywhere!

  • @wimpie25 Yeah right! $22+ billion of complete waste for each city! Our cities would be godly to have that much money put into massive transit systems, and not a bridge and 2 tunnels! The Big Dig was a complete waste given what we could have done with that money.

  • @wimpie25 You missed the point of the video. The Big Dig is a disaster. There are SO many accidents in those tunnels, it's crazy. This is the last thing any city needs.

  • @wimpie25 wat do u mean?

  • highways are like concrete and metal rivers. i think its totally awesome that they built a highway underneath the city. shows a bit of what future transport will look like.

  • 4 lanes in a tunnel seems dangerous. boston has to have the most extensive system by far does anything rival it?

  • Not in the US.

  • very bitchin video of the Boston highway system. that was my first town driven professionally and in depth back in January 2005 as part of a telecom assignment and surprisingly I found those drivers more courteous than the NYC drivers. Great snow removal system to and no problems getting around the financial district. Just trying to cross over 93 into Old Town was a bitch because of the Big Dig. Really no problems to speak of other than those annoying traffic circles. Tunnels are a rush :)

  • Wow! Well done! Ya autta see the Seattle freeways! ;p 85mph in some spots.

  • i hate driving in my hometown its overwhelming. u shouldve seen when that damn dig started jeez it suked.

  • Had you kept the film rolling a little more on US1 North past the 2:17 mark, you would've passed where I lived a while as a construction worker in the early 90s! The Tudor Gardens apartment complex.

  • yea!!!!...i remeber going through the mess when I was little...making of the big dig was a total mess!!!...but now its better..but damn its still hard to drive in..drives beware of the fast exits and crazy drivers. and boston does have summer..fall is very short, then winter comes and slaps you face and then a sort spring than a hott and humid summer.

  • i live in boston people think that it only snows there well boston has sumkmer spring winter and fall so they are wrong

  • Cant believe no one is ROFLMAO at the white car at the end

  • I"d like if boston would be with the big streets on ny but thes same atmosphere as boston.

  • I love the music! Go Celtics & Bruins too! Great video!

  • The 14 billion pricetag was not only for the I-93 tunnel, but also for the Zakim Bridge, the I-90 extension below the harbor to Logan Airport and a total reconstruction of that area. To be frank, the initial estimates were way too low. Do this kind of project in Europe and you've spend the same amount of money.

  • Thanks for posting that. Really interesting stuff!

  • nice job man! makes me homesick

  • What a great video!! Well done to whoever made it :)

  • Sorry, i mean, well done Freewayjim :)

  • I love roads, you're right. There are only 600,000 within Boston city limits (which are tiny), but there are over 7,400,000 in the CSA, making it the fifth largest in the nation.

  • What a mess! haha

  • Comment removed

  • i can only imagine how nice it'd be if they'd cap the connector here in atl, half the work's done it's already mostly below grade...

  • What audio is this?

  • The song is "Get The Hell Out of Here" by Steve Vai

  • i think that's the city square tunnel in charlestown

  • The southern terminus of the unbuilt I-695 inner belt expressway was at the Mass Ave Roxbury exit. Melena Cass Blvd was supposed to be part of I-695.

  • Nice history of some unbuilt highway projects in Boston. Don't forget the northern and southern terminus of the proposed I-695 fron I-93.

  • nice steve Vai playing guitar solo. He is one of the best around. his performance of this is on a 2 disk cd. going over tobin into revere , come on down.

  • Look up: "Flying under Stockholm" and see some guys fly an RC Airplane in tunnels like this..Nice video!!

  • goin right past chelsea?

  • Should I have stopped for a Pizza?

  • Albeit MASTERNC's comment was 6 months back, I totally agree with him that the tunnels remind me of them being like the ones you see in racing video games!

  • I saw even more crowded freeways when I went through to Salem for Halloween last year.

  • Comment removed

  • Cool road. The worst is that I-90 Mass Pike.

  • Been thinking, dont tunnels use air purification systems to remove CO2? Then if the entire world's road network was tunnels, global warming would end!

  • biggest symbol of Americans' car-dependence

  • No, that would be the freeway systems in places like Los Angeles, Houston & Dallas and quite frankly I don't see it as such a negative thing. The freedom of mobility is quite nice, try it sometime.

  • Yes, that's correct. LA has no public railing system whatsoever. Cut off a freeway and the whole city drops dead, strangling on the ground. It's a shame.

  • the boston roads always confuse me when i go there. lol

  • great motorway!

  • a "stop & shop" truck on the I-93 south, sweet.

  • I drove through there a few times. The tunnels and the new road construction confused the hell out of my GPS.

  • Absolutely mind boggling with a big "rush"!!

    AMB in Jerusalem [from Boston]

  • i love boston even though i've only been there once.

  • Well I live here, and it sucks.

  • your videos are awesome

    good job

    keep making it

  • beautiful!!!!

  • Thanks for these vids. I personally installed hundreds of feet of electrical conduit in that tunnel. This brings back memories.

  • Good point MASTERNIC. Makes me think of the Ridge Racer video game series. If road geeks had a national convention, I'm sure that Boston would be a first pick.:-)

  • What Steve Vai song is this?

  • "Get The Hell Out Of Here"

  • Cool, thanks, sorry I called you Bob. I meant to say Jim!

  • Awesome video Bob, Boston rules!

  • wow in our tunnels we cant change lanes let alone have exits awesome

  • I luv BOSTON!

  • For some reason, the Big Dig tunnels always remind me of racing video games that have tunnel portions.

  • They really look like race-track tunnels. Are there any Formula 1 tracks that contain tunnels?
