  • Hi Zacharge. Unfortunately, or more correctly--Fortunately--, we cannot lay boards or tin down in the National Forest. But we have turned over logs and rocks looking for rubber boas.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • If you have access to some areas of prime habitat, laying some wooden boards or tin down will help you locate some more rubber boas. I am not sure of the habitat in Wyoming, but here in the San Francisco Bay Area, prime rubber boa habitat range from redwood forests to mountain ridges of coast scrub. Areas with lots of wooden boards and tin laid out in open fields usually reveal many boas during the spring and fall.

  • Thanks, Billboard.

How, When, and Where do you look? I presume turn over logs and rocks looking for them in the same habitat I found this one. Did that one day, but not for long as people were waiting on me.

    Jonesy

We used to find them basking on asphalt at night in southern BC, Canada. Individuals have a very limited range, so you can find the same one year afteer year in the sae spot

  • Very nice. Thank you for sharing. They are actually common in their habitat, and you can find them in numbers if you know how, when, and where to look.
