Lou played Rahar's in Northampton several times around 1980-81. Always breathlessly anticipated by the little group of us that made up the local music scene there at the time.
I remember Lou. He and The Kozmetix used to come to Portland, Maine on a regular basis in the early 80's and always drew pretty big crowds. He was a great entertainer with a neat sense of humor. We often threw parties for him and he always came. I heard he died. When, and what happened? Too bad. I've often wondered what happened to him and the band. Nothing but great memories.
I am so happy to see all the Lou Miami videos--and all these comments! My friends and I were rather obsessed with getting to see Lou and all whenever they were in Boston--we mostly saw them at the Rat in Kenmore square. I know he had several band mate changes, but I remember HB (a really tall woman-played bass?, and woman drummer--they were so cool). They would always remember us and talk to us after shows-we loved that! Man, there was some fun slam-dancing during a Lou show!
I got to sit in on an interview with Lou in the 80's for WDOM, Providence College's radio station. He was one of a kind and thats the way he prefered to be. I still think of those nights at the Living Room with Lou Miami and November Group.
I use too go to see Lou Miami as many as twice a week for a few years. The Line up would change, but the Staple was Lou and Jack. IMO their live shows in Boston were some of the best shows I have ever seen. The Live performance was far better than anything they got legit in the studio. I have a live WERS by them that is excellent.
I am such a huge fan of Lou Miami after seeing him perform countless times at the Living Room. I would be so pleased if anybody has demo tapes/discs that they could offer for sale/trade. - DJ Jared/ Rocket
I would like to know who put this video together. It is a remake of the original. I have one of the few copies in existence of the original video of this song. I appeared in the Dance With Death video, but do not own it, and can't find it. Any help out there?
Anyone else remember Lou singing "To Sir With Love?"
I was in the bleachers at Fenway one afternoon, must have been around 1980. Someone spotted him and the chant went up: "LOU! LOU! LOU! LOU!" He had to stand up and take a bow! It probably sounds funny, but Lou was a hero to a lot of people in Boston (including me). He didn't compromise and people loved him for it.
Lou Miami was one of the greatest provocateurs of all time. I had the honor of sharing several stages with him in the late 70's early 80's. Lou was very entertaining once you got over the initial WTF and "To Sir With Love" was hilarious.

Wasn't Lou from down town Lowell? I always wanted to see him live, but I was just a couple of years short of getting in clubs. Where is he now??

I believe he was from Lowell, but am not sure. Lou passed away in Los Angeles, CA in 1995.

Fascist lover met my mother and he had a baby and that was me!
Lou's real name is Tim Danahy and he's now dead. So is his guitarist Jack Rootoo (sp?)
I used to see Lou all around Boston back in the day.
I'm dancing with death. Oh no! Don't look in my face!

Yes, He did a great cover of "To Sir With Love". Turned it into a dom/sub song. I once had the single (the other side was "Fascist Lover").
Wish I still had that recording.
