And that's what it is about. They have the money, power and they work for more money, not for good of either artists or users.
What I understand from this clip is a heavy irony and fear... because we really live in time, when we can go to jail for dowloading an mp3, which is really scaring and definitely a demonstration of power of RIAA and mass authorship owners lobby.
We have a club, where we play records and dance. We're private audience. One day, a strange guy came and though we sent him away as "public", he called later and told he is from such corpo and that we should pay a fee. Or else they would make legal problems. And really, our authorship laws have very interestingly changed under the hood of 'european legislation coordination'. So we pay, because we have not the money for the case we would lose in eventual court.
Oh people, why are you so heated about downloading? I don't say it's ok, but you all should be more heated about those authorship-defending corpos... If it weren't for them, you'd be buying music for a fraction of today's price.
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS. You will get kissed on the nearest possible Friday by the love of your life. Tomorrow will be the best day of your life. However, if you don't post this comment to at least 3 videos, you will die within 2 days. Copy and paste this, to be saved

I use itunes then mp3 them with audacity. However, I do buy them for $.99. But he does have a point, if every single person in the world downloaded songs for free then how much would they actually make?
Whoever thinks Weird Al was 100% serious needs to listen to the lyrics. Artists are VERY well off and I'm sure none of them even notice that a few thousand ppl have their CDS on download. A friend of mine has all of Nelly's music. Downloaded them for free. Do you know that Nelly has a car that changes color and had 5 million dollars in jewelry stolen from him. It was ONE necklace and some diamond studded solid gol dice. Do you think that I'm hurting him just cuz I downloaded a CD? lol
O_o. Gorefreak, "Don't Download This Song" is available for download on Weird Al's Myspace. BTW, though it's not a parody of the song, it's actually a theme-styling of "We Are the World" by MJ (according to Wikipedia).
First of all, gorfreak is an idiot. Second, this song is SARCASM. Did you even pay attention to the lyrics, ppl? It's about how the RIAA is so heartless and how they make a big deal out of pirating music although we all know it is harmless and weird al made this sarcastic song pretending that it is and how RIAA would kill a 7 year old boy over it. Which they would. Oh and props to weird al.^_^
listen to the song you idiot! it's about taking the piss out of greedy record companies that treat ordinary people like criminals for downloading music
Yes I know this gives out a good message. We should not download songs and buy the CD so the artist can afford more pimped out rides and everthing you can possibly imagine studded with gold, just like the song said.
I found this hilarious. I get the point of it just fine. Surprising others don't. As for downloading, I do feel funny downloading anything that is licensed, and usually just stick to downloading stuff not licensed in the US. Most everything "US related" that I have, is stuff I personally ripped myself.
The music video, animated by Bill Plympton, premiered August 22, 2006 on Yahoo! Music. It depicts the vision of the capture, trial, imprisonment, attempted execution, escape, and burning of a young boy who burns a CD on his computer.[4] The boy's death, where he stands on top of a tower just before it explodes, parodies the film White Heat, where Cody Jarrett, played by James Cagney, dies in a similar fashion.
For those of you who dont get it (even if it IS FLAMBOYANTLY OBVIOUS!) this song is saying that downloading songs isn't as terrible as everyone acts like it is. They're saying that if you download this, its not like you're hurting the artist, because they're rich already, so why do they need the money?
I'm thinking the animated videos on his DVD are kind of first drafts for the songs. There's still a much more awesome video to be made of this song, featuring live footage of all Al's music-biz pals taking turns on the lyrics, a la the original "We Are The World."
if you people don't realize this is satire, i suggest you grab a shotgun, place your head in front of the barrel and do the world a favor by eliminating your dumb ass from the gene pool before you reproduce
