i get to the the part where it shows the connect to itunes thing and then the numbers and writing doesnt come up at all and the ipod goes into recovery mode shortly after. what am i doing wrong?

should it take a few tries to make this work?cuz mindoesnt have says its jailbreaking but after it shows the itunes plugin thing it doesnt show the symbols an stuff. pls tell me if im doin sumthing wrong
