The U.S. is one of the only western countries that doesn't have trade relations with Cuba. So apparently it will take the U.S. to help them, makings critics seem unjustified. I would say, If we are so bad, why depend on us?
The blockade in Cuba is between the goverment and his people, the goverment in Cuba is rude and tiranic and the people are living in absolutely misery.
america has no justified reason to have the blockade in the first place... its largely due to this that cuba cant feed its people... I only know a little on castro but america are bullies too..
Mi$helle and Barry just bought the home of their dreams in Cuba. They plan to move in sometime in 2012, or when Barry is impeached...whichever comes first.
Because USA have WMD so, they can run abbu Garib, Guentanamo bay etc.
The people of USA think they become GOD and almost everybody can keep GUN in USA and they can do what even they want, other part of the world can feel it, USA never fight with neighbor country like CUBA, Venejuala but they created problem in Middle east, Europe , Sounth Asia and the country which is other part of Atlantic Sea, very far from America.
Its digusting that the US can follow this Embargo. . The only way to bring change is to extend an olive branch. So stop this trade embargo, except for military weapons, on the condition that Cuba allows free elections, freedom of the press, and basic democratic rights to all its citizens. The rest will come naturally once the Cuban government sees that its people are benefiting. And get these Cubans some new vehicles. The Cubans people are good people, so do the right thing.
Cuba does not have to be forced to make any concessions except under their own free will, least of all by a country like the U.S., the all but self-proclaimed messiah of all mankind's ills.
"Obama said a relationship frozen for 50 years "won't thaw overnight," and that Cuba can show it wants to move forward by lifting its own restrictions on Cubans' ability to travel and to voice their opinions...."(AP April 16, 2009)
Gee, maybe the US can show in return that US torturers and war criminals like Cheney and Bush are prosecuted, and that Obama is moving forward to end the prison industrial complex that Angela Davis has described in great detail.
You made that comment a year ago. Have you learnt anything about Castro? I'm a bit interested in him as well. I don't believe the American media about him.
Cuban domestic politics is Cuban domestic politics. No country has the right to interfere the domestic politics of the sovereign country.
Maybe I consider american type of corporate fascism and mediacracy as not having any democratic references, but this is not the reason to impose economic sanctions on USA.
Who are Americans to judge others and try to install the democracy that they themselves never had?
if not for stupid sanctions adopted when johny Kennedy was overfrightened by soviet rockets deployed as a response to american rockets in turkey, then Cuban economy would be also fine.
There is a degree of truth in that. The Kennedy administration achieved very little by their response towards the 'Cuban Missile Crisis', Eisenhower could have taken Fidel more carefully so as not to push him into an inevitable corner, as Roosevelt achieved with Mao. Nevertheless, my comment is still sound.
America is seen as the bully because it won't trade with Cuba. But the Cuban government will not allow trade unions, will not allow political parties and will not allow free elections. Who is the bully?

@victorwasechkin "Cuban domestic politics is Cuban domestic politics. No country has the right to interfere"
Very true. And also no country is obligated to trade with another country. Cuba would like the US to lift the trade embargo but America has an obligation to the millions of refugees it has take in since Castro confiscated their property and drove them from the Island. America is a sovern country and it has the right to choose who it will trade with.
you are misleading the audience, narrowing the significance of sanctions. When USA imposes trade embargo and economic sanctions, it means that USA can impose sanctions on any American company or U.S. bank that is involved in trading with Cuba or transferring funds, as well as impose limitations on trade with those foreign companies that have contacts with the 'rough state'. So this turns out to be not only American trade, but gov-t involvement, while claiming own importance in world economy.
End the embargo!

If Fidel had taken up Austrian economics instead of communism, and applied it rigorously, Cuba under capitalism, would now be outperforming the US.
