The part that killed this specific issue for me was the goofy over-dramatic Frank Milleresque narration boxes. The fight itself. The police sniper not being able to take a shot until one of the two committed a crime warranting lethal force. All of that was the definition of cool, and one of those times the the police didn't seem to be intentionally keeping out of it for no reason. But that clipped new-noir prose was laughable. I know it was the early 90s, but even at the age of 8 it was stupid.
I really, really hope that after TDKR Wayne is crippled, and Azrael takes over the Batman role, while Darren Aronofsky takes over directing - his movies are always about one person going insane in a kind of urban hell and that would be perfect for Azrael as Batman, who always considers Gotham "A neon-lit version of hell" while going insane and getting more and more violent. Plus the Knightfall story, stripping Bruce's physical powers from him, really shows his moral strength.

JGL seems too small to me (see Bale in the training scenes for contrast), but one of the points of Azrael-Batman is he doesn't rely on size as much as weapons, stealth, and sheer ruthless craziness. So yeah maybe JGL will be the new Batman. God that would be awesome. I just hope Wayne survives as an Alfred to JGL's whoever, as he had his own Alfred. Otherwise the new Batman will just lose it.

If DC isn't lying about Jean-Paul Batman as a dig at 90's style anti-heroes, the sight of the powerful armored fighter obsessed with beating Bane to a pulp being less of a hero than the kid in tights who makes sure nobody(except that unfortunate driver guy) gets killed in the crossfire would be a point in their favor.

Bruce wayne doesn't defeat Bane. He gets his back broken and spends a long portion of the Knightfall series recovering from his injuries. Bane was eventually defeated by bruce's successor and protege John Paul Valley aka Batman II. Thats the batman who you see in the video. He was basically a darker and more violent version of Batman and had his own reasons for fighting crime. He later became the superhero known as Azrael.
@rencrow Wasn't he Azrael before the whole batman saga? If memory serves, he was raised in some sort of order where they basically made him from spliced animal DNA to make him the perfect being. The Azrael suit is from that very order he escaped from and worked with some girl to try and take down the order so nobody else would have to go through his pain. He eventually made his way to gotham and was sorta crazy because he had a split personality. One as Jean Paul Valley, the other as Azrael.
I think you're right, as I read he was trained by Batman and Robin (Tim Drake) to fight his split personality and became Batman when Bane broke Bruce Wayne's back.
AzBats confronted Bane a first time and nearly got killed. He got back to his normal self after being exposed to Scarecrow's toxin. This made him more violent, he improved his suit, adding plenty gadgets and improving the armors, and refused to have Robin helping. That's when he started murdering some criminals too.
@rocknrollhell Yeah. The entire point of Azreal in the Knightfall saga was to deconstruct the current fad of anti-heroes that was rising in the 90´s and show how poorly it matched with the character of batman.
@georjpsw115 In later comics, such as No Man's Land, Bane is no longer an issue, and Batman is able to defeat him quite easily. The reason he was defeated in Knightfall is that in Part 1, Bane busted every criminal out of Arkham Asylum, and Batman spent most of that comic putting them back, one by one. It taxed his endurance and stamina so much that by the time Bane finally came for him, he wasn't a challenge anymore.
@KuriballFTW6 Batman never beat him in No Mans Land easily or not,it was an even back and forth which nobody won and you forgot to mention the fact that they fought in Legacy where he and Ra's planned on wiping out the majority of the worlds population and Batman barely beat him in there,he was so exhausted after that fight that he could'nt even swim a few feet and Bane never used venom after Knightfall so that's even more impressive.

I remember this series in the actual comics....pure. cinematic. bliss. It couldnt be duplicated in any movie....it was just awe-some the series and this particular fight. I like the Joker and Scarecrow fight in the tunnel with Batman also in Kmightfall too.

I kinda liked the early stories of his self-discovery and learning about life i general. Az is probably one of the most relateable characters in the Bat-mythos!

Profanity aside, that was well put. Judd Winnick accomplished nothing with bringing Jason "the fans voted him dead" Todd back. The whole point of the Under the Hood story was that Jason was angry that Batman would not kill the Joker and he would-therefore he was a better "batman." It explored nothing that Valley's character had not already covered.
Wow, I used to actually have that comic when I was a kid! lol, It was crazy b/c I could recall bits and pieces of what happened, especially the intro poses Batman did while searching the city.... this is classic!

American Comics tend to be more realistic and detailed than Manga and Anime, seeing as to how they all follow the same shit (big eyes, almost impossible to maintain hair, and no nose) I like Manga a bit too, but I hate it when people say it's better than comics, it's Two different things. And Comics have a huge fan base compared to Manga, since Manga just spawns random shit while Comics are based on certain characters.

Bruce wayne doesn't defeat Bane. He gets his back broken and spends a long portion of the Knightfall series recovering from his injuries. Bane was eventually defeated by bruce's successor and protege John Paul Valley aka Batman II. Thats the batman who you see in the video. He was basically a darker and more violent version of Batman and had his own reasons for fighting crime. He later became the superhero known as Azrael.

@rencrow Wasn't he Azrael before the whole batman saga? If memory serves, he was raised in some sort of order where they basically made him from spliced animal DNA to make him the perfect being. The Azrael suit is from that very order he escaped from and worked with some girl to try and take down the order so nobody else would have to go through his pain. He eventually made his way to gotham and was sorta crazy because he had a split personality. One as Jean Paul Valley, the other as Azrael.

I think you're right, as I read he was trained by Batman and Robin (Tim Drake) to fight his split personality and became Batman when Bane broke Bruce Wayne's back.
AzBats confronted Bane a first time and nearly got killed. He got back to his normal self after being exposed to Scarecrow's toxin. This made him more violent, he improved his suit, adding plenty gadgets and improving the armors, and refused to have Robin helping. That's when he started murdering some criminals too.

@rocknrollhell Yeah. The entire point of Azreal in the Knightfall saga was to deconstruct the current fad of anti-heroes that was rising in the 90´s and show how poorly it matched with the character of batman.

@georjpsw115 In later comics, such as No Man's Land, Bane is no longer an issue, and Batman is able to defeat him quite easily. The reason he was defeated in Knightfall is that in Part 1, Bane busted every criminal out of Arkham Asylum, and Batman spent most of that comic putting them back, one by one. It taxed his endurance and stamina so much that by the time Bane finally came for him, he wasn't a challenge anymore.

@KuriballFTW6 Batman never beat him in No Mans Land easily or not,it was an even back and forth which nobody won and you forgot to mention the fact that they fought in Legacy where he and Ra's planned on wiping out the majority of the worlds population and Batman barely beat him in there,he was so exhausted after that fight that he could'nt even swim a few feet and Bane never used venom after Knightfall so that's even more impressive.

I remember this series in the actual comics....pure. cinematic. bliss. It couldnt be duplicated in any movie....it was just awe-some the series and this particular fight. I like the Joker and Scarecrow fight in the tunnel with Batman also in Kmightfall too.

Very cool! I loved this comic and followed Azrael for a long time after. I dunno, but the stories kinda got lame towards 2000. I hated the way they kept changing his costume. I kinda liked the early stories of his self-discovery and learning about life i general. Az is probably one of the most relateable characters in the Bat-mythos!

This was one of my favorite scenes in the comic: Azbats vs. Bane.
Bane had NO IDEA what he was getting into. He thought that Valley was just a wannabe in a costume. He had no idea that he was talking to a programed assassin who wanted his blood more than the real batman ever did.

Azbats: prepare to be mugged!

actually Azrael was made for to be an gay, it supossed to let Batman lick his ass i then fuch hard, previously touch of their dicks... but editors thought that was a little hard for stupid kids who buy this shit so instead they just draw an epic fight forgiving the sexual lines an images...

Profanity aside, that was well put. Judd Winnick accomplished nothing with bringing Jason "the fans voted him dead" Todd back. The whole point of the Under the Hood story was that Jason was angry that Batman would not kill the Joker and he would-therefore he was a better "batman." It explored nothing that Valley's character had not already covered.

American Comics tend to be more realistic and detailed than Manga and Anime, seeing as to how they all follow the same shit (big eyes, almost impossible to maintain hair, and no nose) I like Manga a bit too, but I hate it when people say it's better than comics, it's Two different things. And Comics have a huge fan base compared to Manga, since Manga just spawns random shit while Comics are based on certain characters.
