Brenda! Brenda! Brenda! The beauty that is Brenda Holloway and her voice is timeless, ageless, forever. When I first saw this clip as it originally aired on TV, I couldn't catch my breath--it was so wonderful and overwhelming. Just like she always was. So deeply talented. And gorgeous in every way. I just hope she knows the happiness that she brought--and continues to bring--with her exceptional self and voice. And her terrific recordings that I play over and over and over and . . .
I can tell this women fears the LORD,look how good she looks, not even a wrinkle on her face and that wonderful voice seems to have gotten stronger! Man what a talented woman,Gordy let his relationship with Diana over shadow a lot of female talent at Motown, it's wonderful that we recognize it, You Go Girl!
The Great Brenda Holloway is singing her 1964 hit "Every Lit Bit Hurts" in 2005. She hasn't lost anything in 41 years. She is an incredible Motown treasure. She is probably the most talented and least publicized artist in the Motown family.
This lady got some soul....where was she performing? Some of the musicians look familiar. Black dont crack....she has absolutely no wrinkles. Go Ms Holloway...
Song still gives me the chills. Definitely didn't get her due! She sounds great and looks good. I'm going to google her to she if she's performing any where near me.
This shout out is for ( bankman58 ) Thank you so much for the goose bumbs.. iam on my grandsons channel ,,, iam 57 yrs. old now and jus love the job you are doing... bless you for keeping the music alive for us to enjoy.. BRAVO!! BRAVO !! peace and love from.. California,,, USA... Ronnie.
Yes, Brenda Holloway, you are STILL AWESOME!!!! Love to work with you, Queen!!! YOU ROCK!!! More love, Brenda Holloway! Thank you SO much for posting this bankman58!
Oh! My GOD...Dang....I absolutely feel that Brenda is an even Better singer now than in the 60's and God knows she was great then. Amazing woman!! You go girl and you go great!!!
I saw Brenda Holloway in the 60s. She was an icon well before Diana Ross. She was the Diana Ross of the 60's. She wasn't well publicized, or managed, but she was so very good. As she is now. She has to be going on towards 70. Late 60's. She looks beautiful. You go girl!!!!! I was a teenager and she was older than me back then, in her 20's probably, in the late 60's. Do the math....
I just love how she puts the vocal pyrotechnics in all the right places...she really "takes this song to church" great!
This is a woman who has owned this song for years...yet how many singers do you know of where you can say, "They're doing it now better than they did 45 years ago"...?
Brenda Holloway is smokin!
Maybe my favorite female singer of all time...right up there with Aretha, Ella Fitzgerald, and the young Martha Reeves.
When Brenda Holloway was on the rise at Motown,The Supremes had their first No# 1 hit "Where Did Our Love Go?" They were on Dick Clarks Carvan Tour" with Brenda Holloway,When their song went to No# 1 Berry Gordy pulled them off the tour,to get them back in the studio. Berry forcus on The Supremes,Brenda got left behind like a lot of the other Motown acts.
Dick Clark wanted Brenda for the Caravan Of Stars Tour yet Berry Gordy would only agree to it if Dick also booked the Supremes (this was prior to Where Did Our Love Go being released). Dick didn't want the Supremes but went along w/the agreement. Motown made sure WDOLG was sent to every radio station in every town the tour hit - that's how it became a hit. So, the Supremes have Brenda & Dick to thank for launching their string of #1 hits (BTW, this info came right from Gordy's autobiography).
I love the way she breaks into Distant Lover, to bad her and Marvin never recorded together, that would have been awsome to have a Marvin Gaye & Brenda Holloway record
This woman, Brenda Holloway, never cease to amaze me. I love her voice now, as much as i did when i first heard her in the 60s. She actually sounds better. More expression and energy. I like the way she does it.
This might be one of the greatest songs ever, and every young soul singer has much to learn from Brenda and a few others of her generation. Soul is not about vocal gymnastics and singing hundreds of notes in one breath, it's about finding that part of you and your experiences that gives you a deep personal connection to the song, and then putting the listener in that same place because they have been there too.
what a fantastic record why so few hits ....should be in the millions xxxxxxxxxxlove it
