  • @Whittingtons It also has two ringing chambers!! They are split in half, with 4 & 5 one side, i believe, and the others the other side!!

    Apparantly, this is the oldest church in the county to have any bells in.

    What are they like to ring? They certainly sound nice!

  • @simonbellringer you are quite correct. They handle very well indeed and I think sound better inside, but they are certainly a good six all round;/

  • Deerhurst is unique in that its the only place in the Uk to have two pre conquest churches in the same village.

    St Marys the church we are listening to dates from the early 8th Century possibly 7th Century and King Canute and King Ethelred met in this very church way back in the 9th Century.

    There are only a few other pre conquest churches as important architecturally as Deerhurst.

    A MUST VISIT ITS NEAR TEWKESBURY.
