I was in the glorious U. S. Navy myself and served in Vietnam patrolling the Mekong river and it's canals and in anti-guerrilla operations against the VC.
Best damn Navy in the world. No other Navy compares to it- not even the Russian or the Chinese, much less the 2-ship Iranian navy. It would take one jet from a U. S. Aircraft carrier about 15 seconds to destroy the Iranian "navy"

@TheCentralServices: You're wrong, portions of the Mexican War and the Punitive Expedition against Pancho Villa were fought on US territory, and the military defended our borders quite well. @AshenarOT Feel free to PROVE your fellow countryman wrong. The US military is quite good in invading, occupying and bullying or bombing sovereign states into submission. It is utterly useless for protecting and defending the American people and borders, as we have seen in 911 and Pearl Harbor, the ONLY two times the US were attacked on their own soil. (...if you forget for a moment that is all stolen Land)
As a former soldier I can tell you with almost 100% accuracy that #8 is absolutely correct. Marines invade,..then go home. Its the United States Army that gets stuck with "Occupying",...AKA, extremely boring "Guard Duty". How true.
