Great movie but e poses the greatest question "if you could see ahead and know what hitler was planning would you kill him?" but keeping in mind it may set a new timeline that may end up with someone even worse, or other superpowers, nuclear wars, etc
@ShadowSonic2 I can't find the whole thing. A good portion of the beginning was taken down, and a very large chunk through the end was taken down. I only know how it ends from watching this video, lol. I really wanna see the rest! Great movie so far!! Christopher Walken is such a great actor.
I really wouldn't call this a horror movie, despite the reputations of King and Cronnenberg. This is more sci-fi and suspense - which I don't mean as a criticism, just that it's different. This is easily one of King's best adaptions, it's definitely his most understated. Walken really gave a powerful, sometimes poingant performance in a film which has more heart and actual entertainment than you'd expect from Cronnenberg or King, and they didn't lose themselves in graphic violence for once.
@melosebrainuhoh Johnny had a gun. A bullet would go through a podium as surely as it would tissue paper. A baby however is pretty good protection because who would be willing to shoot through a baby?
Well, I liked this tv show but don't understand one thing. This tv series was ok but still boring. They cancelled so many great Sci-Fi shows (The 4400, Invasion, Jake 2.0, TekWar, RoboCop The Series, Blade The Series, Total Recall 2070, The Invisible Man, Firefly, Dark Skies....) while this one lasted all 6 seasons. Now I hope Torchwood and Fringe will get more seasons
Really just thought of this scene as how Palin's career has ended. She thought that she could get away with her words of hate, and now they have been turned against her.
@MagusMistake absolutely! It ends with a different kind of happiness rather than dancing around, Disney style. Some of the best movies have endings like that. "I Am Legend," and "The Mist," although that one's a little more uh, harsh. etc etc! Stephen King is THE KING however
@unrealityproduction YEah i liked this movie cuz it was so acurate to the book with a few changes here and there. I hope the uploader of this video is aware that the plot of this movie/novel came from Stephan King's question, "What If You Could Go Back In Time And Kill Hitler?"
I pissed away my youth reading and re-reading King. But the scene showing stilson cowering behind that babys body is still the ugliest image Ive ever seen.
I agree with lyndapatches only thing is I don't believe the prophecy has been fulfilled as yet. The seed is being planted before our eyes and as we speak now. She's presented as an 'every woman' an average american soccer mom who just wants the best for us. Her daughter innocuously dances on our screens each week and shes has her own t.v.program --so we'll know how'real' she is.Those who refuse yo take her seriously should go out and rent or buy this movie a.s.a.p.
Steven King prediected the rise of the Tea Party movement with Martin Sheen's Stilson candidate. Stilson ran the same hate filled phony populist campaign as almost all of the Teabagrepub candidates are running. Joe Miller's private security guards arrested a reporter for asking questions,Crazy Carl Paladino threatened to kill a reporter, and sharron Angle said it was time to use 2nd amendment remedies (GUNS) to take out congress.
@petergilmartin82 The horror is electing some dipshit like Martin Sheen's character who's batshit crazy and destroys the world because he thinks that he has some god-given destiny to fulfill. Christopher Walken's character takes out someone who is quite literally a mass murdering genocidal idiot
an unforgettable film....which is saying something for me because I forget films and can usually rewatch them a few years later. Not this one........with an ending like that it has become indeliably marked in my brain after almost 30 years.
@blackychiny Well if you think this is a happy ending i would hate what a bad ending would be to you LOL. As someone said this guy is a mild mannered teachers who gets in accident and goes into a coma for five years. When he wakes up he sees his love of his life moved on and his mother dies. He also gets a powerful gift that leads him to die. Thats pretty intense to be a happy ending
We are all Punish-ed. Johnny says goodbye. Fate, cruelty, evil, know no bounds. Intense movie, intense actor, intense lifetime. Christopher Walken is an alien. I'm only glad he visited this planet barren of actors long enough for us to dream of being similar to him. I don't know which I like better, this movie, or The Deer Hunter.

I finished the book few days ago (was published in greek before 2 years :P)
He seems to fit in the role...this pale face after 4,5 years in comma...
Also (sorry for responding again), he never fell off the balcony, he was shot and pushed backwards, and then died up there as the people came up. He also didn't die knowing the stillson wouldn't be president, he died thinking he had failed his mission, but he DIDN'T know that, althought his missed his couple of shots, the pictures of stillson ruined his chances. they could have portryed (SP?)this by him being sad, and then showing the vision afterwards...and I love Christopher Walken comedys(SP)
I just finished it last night, and he does fall off the balcony and he knows that Stillson fails, although he doesn't see Stillson killing himself like the movie. I like the book's ending more.
(Sorry, i'm probably going to go on and on and on, but...) ALSO, Johnny was finished off by the guys when they came up to the balcony, so he didn't live long enoughn to do all that. ALso, in the book, it was just a random persons baby, not the girl (her name escapes me, i haven't read it in so long).
Hey, at least him dying in the end happened in the movie...
Sure, i read the book and it was good and i liked the film because it maintains the book's somber tone. I like Christopher Walken playing the role of the main protagonist Johnny Smith. But now ask me, who else would fit the role of Johnny Smith in the film version than Christopher Walken?

He was too OLD to play the part! He was supposed to be a young school teacher, and, although I love Christopher Walken in most of his movies (Joe Dirt, ecspellialy, Sorry for the spelling), but I don't think he fit well here!
My thought on that is that Sonny is smart enough to know it's over for Stillson, and he's not about to be yelled at any more by a has-been. He's a rat fleeing a sinking ship.
Amazing movie, and book. GREAT, GREAT work
The film was an adaptation of the book, so how could that arise, King would have to have returned and made a new version of the book with a different ending, I doubt this, if he did so, I stand corrected
This movie is one of the reasons why I want to go into film. His performance in this movie is just simply amazing and I especially like the part where he says, "It's over...your finished." Bravo for uploading.

Walken shows his range - everyone knows he can do creepy, menacing bad guy, but here, he plays essentially the protagonist in a Greek tragedy - an innocent @ whom life/god throws an 18 wheeler, destroys his life and leaves him w/ a gift/curse he never wanted and didn't deserve. GREAT, GREAT work

Its a novel. Both have adapted the novel actually.

And this scene has been copied by the book.

Not many people remember times when they didn't make fun of Christopher Walken...

evidence that:
1 - You don't need a big budget for a classic film
2 - Christopher Walken was sent from heaven to prevent armageddon

Walken is truly wonderful in this film and yeah the lamp in the background was such an strong effect. Had me go "oh shit!" when I saw it first time.

Did anyone else think it was cool when Johnny gets shot in the heart and the bullet blows up the light behind him?

Again, I thank you. Love this movie. Walken is one of the finest, most under rated actors EVER! Thanks!
