Does anybody here remember Vera Duckworth? Remember how she said that we would meet again.. some sunny day. Vera.. Vera..what has become of you? Does anybody else here feel the way I do??
Losing Vera was the beginning of the end for some of our oldies but favorite goodies thesze past years. We have now lost Jack Duckworth as well, and Corry will never be the same again. Thank you Vera.. Thank you Jack.. for bringing to life some of the best coronation Street moments and scenes for all time.
Hope you're improving as time goes on Liz..... I stopped smoking 2 years ago after 20 years of smoking when I bumped into an old friend who was on oxygen, it scared me so much to think about gasping for breath. I really do miss seeing you on Corrie.
yet Dreare (dierdre, anne kirkbride) continues to smoke like a chimney. she sounds bloody awful. how she can still breathe is beyond me. i see horrible illness and early death coming for her. every time she laughs and y ou hear her horrible chest it makes me ill. guy at work has C O P D and he still smokes. he doesnt realize what he's in for...my dad's bro hasnt got the energy to shave without getting winded. and he never smoked..inhaled silica at work too much without a mask..too bad
I quit using champix in June 09. Aside from it being hard on my tummy , it was like a miracle! I smoked for 28 years! Now I don't even miss it a bit!!
OMG I loved Vera's character I thought that perhaps she went off the show to do theatre I didn't know she was not well...hope she gets strong real soon
I really want to quit the fags but im so addicted. It my nerves and ive been smoking 19 years. I really really regret starting. I need a lil inspiration.
i Stopped watching the street a few years ago. I dont like modern day street, i loke the old days. I tuned in to watch V's death though. She the last of the great battleaxes. Dont think Maria or Sarah Lou will ever have the same impact lol
I quit smoking on the 1st of Jan 2009 and i never thought i would be able to, i enjoyed smoking but when i can see the difference its made in this short amount of time and how much money i have saved, its so worth it.
I stopped after 5 years because I didn't want to be a smoker for forty years... You either quit smoking or it will quit you.
It was not really death that bothered me but the decline, it robs you of your enjoyment of life slowly.. well that's my opinion, been there and stopped. Best of luck mate.
yes Lollie it is addictive. But it robs you of your enjoyment of life and there is a 50% chance it will shorten your life. The addictions will pass and you will be free.
You must be strong in your resolve to quit. One smoke and you are a smoker again. go well - OM
Yeah i know there is never 'just the one' I am serious about this now. I will attempt with patches. I think to be honest, its more of a psychological addiction though
good luck! the gum is good because when you crave a smoke it actually satisfies the craving instantly... really, it does! (whereas the patch gives you a constant stream of nicotine) I quit after nearly 10yrs & you can too! =)
Strong and hard message, but also a very important one. It is a horrible illness, i watched my dear Mum die from this illness in April after five months of terrible suffering. It's hard to quit but i assure you it is even harder to watch a loved one die this way at 55 years old.
Well done Liz for stopping smoking.I hope all the youngsters out there who watch this take heed of her message. SMOKING CAN KILL!Thanks for posting this vid.
i started smokeing but quiting now its a bad habbit and am sad tha vera is realy ill with it now coz she reminds me a lot of my grandad who was as bad as her :'(

I loved Vera! I wish she hadn't quit! But I rather her live off of coronation street, than die in real life while filming

i think it should be your own choice on weather your character smokes or not because i doubt the directors want you get into a early grave
