It is never like this anymore... Superball was alright in terms of crowd participation, but nothing like IT or Big Cypress. I don't really care, as far as enjoying a show goes, but I definitely appreciate a good glowstick war, and the band seems to go all out when they happen. The war used to be the most intense part of the shows. Now people just throw a bunch up in the air at once, they come down, and that is it. No real wars anymore for the band to key off of.

@digiprez77 Glow stick war aren't what the used to be. There's a lot of newer fans on the scene and they throw them randomly (not saying anything is wrong with that). Back in the late 90's and early 00's there were certain parts of songs that sparked a glow stick war. Examples: Divide Sky's pause. Harry Hood - beginning of the jam. DWD - beginning of the jam. Piper - beginning of the jam. From what I've seen in 3.0 is that they start randomly and no one really gets involved.

@williammaas51 they are somewhat spontaneous but often sinc up with high points in a song or jam. like for the big long note during YEM before the climb for example. they vary in strength depending on the show and how many people chose to contribute that night. If you want a great glowstick war you have to go to a festival. SBIX was un freakin real!

 I will NEVER forget what it was like being stuck in the middle of that glowstick war. INSANE! IT will go down as one of my phavorite Phish memories ever. Luckily there have been many more since and still plenty to come!

I would have to say that IT was the #1 Phish Fest I have EVER been to. I havn't counted all the Phish Stubs I have but for the past 10 years I have been to EVERY Festival they've held or played at in the continental US and every show from the east coast to the midwest and HANDS DOWN IT FEST GLOWSTICK WAR WAS THE BEST I HAVE EVER SEEN. i myself brought over 3,000 glowsticks to this Fest and contributed 1,500 on this night alone... now also add in the fact that this was 80,000 phish heads there.

i've been seeing phish since 1997 and have seen 100+ shows...this was the biggest glowstick war ever. i was sitting in the Magic Hat VIP tent drinking free beers and there was a huge wall (to the left of the video) that you couldnt really see over. as it went on....i started just seeing glowsticks over this wall and the crowd was going bonkers. so i went and checked it out....it was honestly hard to believe. its like it was....oh shit...i cant explain, SEE YOU ON FALL TOUR! BOOM!

The music was top notch and the vibe was A+. Look at the time around 4:20 it was crazy and his video camera only caught a fraction, plus he was quite far from the stage. I went to Cypress; the IT, far as I can tell from the downloads and the DVD is right behind Cypress and maybe right there with it. Wish I was there; I definitely missed one of the greatest two nights in PHISHTORY.

I was just left of the soundboard and video cameras and looking around for the 20+ minutes this went on was unbelievable. Seemed like 2 million glow rings. No video camera can capture it. No photo can do it justice. This triggers great memories but all those there, know how ridiculous this was. The entire sky was lit up fully. Two spun guys freaked out next to me. They kept asking "is it almost over?" No dude. 2nd song. 2nd set. We got a LOT more of this to go... They were scared.

yes, my view was from the far back (my buddy had just had ACL surgery) and the view just can't be done justice (the camera here, though nice, is 'in it' and not removed so as to prevent a full on view of 'everything' at once.
