finger tapping is what kirk does, i find it a little more difficult but alot sharper toned to tap it with the pick instead of your finger tho

i use my middle finger of my right hand to tap, i dont find pick tapping comfortable, cause i hold my pick with my thumb and forefinger, so when i tap with my middle finger, i can keep my pick in place. =]

Yea, your fingers moved fast, but you need to practice with a metronome. The time was WAI too inconsistent. Just play scales and modes with a metronome until you can play fast as hell with one. Trust me, it helps. Not only do you play on time consistently, but you memorize your modes MUCH better, so improve should be easier.
