i wonder how hong kong is like. if i speak poor cantonese but i could speak not bad english, could i possibly survive throught my holiday?

Yup, along with mandarin, japanese, and engrish. Although i wouldn't say his cantonese is perfect like some people here think. He has to think a lot about what he's saying, so he stutters and speaks slow.
