I bought the exact set up shown here a fee months back, the price was £549 for the head and I think £300 for the cab, the cab price slips my mind slightly. Very happy edith the amp, it sounds incredible but the only thing is (as confirmed by the Blackstar forum) the stock power tubes are pretty naff, mine have already gone so they're going to be replaced very soon.
I have a Bugera 1990 and it sounds great with EH 6L6 power & Tungsol preamp tubes. I think that most of the Bugera stuff is crap but the 1990 sounds like a Marshall on steroids. The mids really cut through!
Nice bud, do you feel special when you get to be a patronising jackass? Age does not equal maturity, as you have both displayed here.
I've played this amp with a PRS Standard 24 w/ De-Activators, as well as an SC250, an SE Paul Allender w/ EMG's, Fender Strats, Fender Teles, Hofners, Washburns, etc, etc. It sounds great, and is capable of producing a range of styles, from classic rock to modern metal.
@cowboy66757 aha dude i do that but my dad is an old school guy and we sat in my garage and tested the settings for like 20 minutes until we found zeroing the bass and mids gives the best lead sound out of an Egnater Rebel-20. but that's just my opinion
@cowboy66757 lol that's all a matter of opinion. while i do agree with your statement about lower output pickups why bother putting the guy down. he has his own taste. i also agree with daniel that he should burn the strat. only because strats look so cool when they are on fire. and you said LMAO so that means you're just as much a child as us these days. ha but that's cool. old people are boring and smelly. anyway stop being a bigot
@cowboy66757 Wouldn't say those pickups are the worst ever. I play emgs and love that harsh, punchy sound. But I do enjoy some good low output passives as well as they flavour the sound much more than some actives out there. But yeah, I don't understand those who zero out their mids either. I did that on a cheap transistor from Laney. Now that I play Blackstar Amps I can't it into my head why anyone would ever zero their mids!
@cowboy66757 I agree totally, the only high output pickup ive ever liked is emg because of the versatility I find in them, personal opinion thought. low output wins most times
@cowboy66757 What's funny is that most people who play metal using passives will stick a boost in front of their amp to emulate the sound of active pickups. The truth is there is no 'better or worse' when it comes to actives vs passives. They're just different tools. If you hear a shit tone coming from either it's not the fault of the tools. It's the person using them.
@12ax7plusEL34 you run a clean boost in front of an amp to tighten it up. believe me, my guitars with actives sound looser (but fuller) than my guitars with passives. you clean boost to make the amp sound much tighter and to drive the tubes even harder than they normally would be. actives do NO SUCH THING. I honestly hate how an amp sounds unless its been boosted, because the low end seems much too flubby, and your amp/cab will sound like it shit the bed once you really crank it
@pnwhlprv37 Yeah man I played one today at my local music shop. The best thing about the amp is the overdrive channel. It's badass. I'm thinking about getting one.
@TheNohcim I beat you, I got a Bugera 333, died. Sent it back got another, died. Both dies first week I had them. I am getting this magnificent bastard today. The only Bugera worth a damn is 55hd, everything else is pure garbage. Save your money for this awesome beasty.
@Duckysausage No, they actually have the passive ones, go check them out, for example in Thomann Cyberstore the most expensive Alexi-signature costs 3699 euros and it has a EMG-HZ pickup...check your facts mate
@c0n0r1o1 sounds like your guitar is having issues. What kind of Pickups are You using? Have You checked the pot cavity to make sure the ground wire has not come loose or is grouded properly?
@iatemine The guitar is a Dean Vendetta and the pickups are the original stock ones, got a set of emg-hz pickups from a zacke wylde copy and was gona have them put in, wud they b better than wats in it and mite it cure the problem.
Just got this head but only got the 2x12 cab cause i dont have the room 4 a 4x12, but wen i took the head 2 practice the other day and put it through a beringer 4x12 on the high gain chanel, gain at 3oclock, vol at 11oclock and wen i turn the master vol up to about 11 or 12oclock i got way to much feedback and had to use the OD1 chanel instead, why is this, can any1 give me sum advice on settings as this is the 1st head i have ever owned so im unsure of the settings, thanks...
Just got this amp and i love it to bits. I really suggest anyone wanting an awesome tube amp for under £1000 to get this one. It truly is the best amp iv ever played and has the quality and sound of a £2000 amp. I'd have this amp instead of a Marshall any day !
i played this at my music sotre. IT FUCING ROCKS. My Carvin VM100 gots more balls, crunch, volume, versatility than any Marshall. But this Blackstar HT100 is really knocking my Carvin around man, I'm serious about what i said in it agianst a Marshall. I want this. still wouldn't trade it thoought.
It's a Vlave head, but anyways, i've played it, and it's a great head. Ypu haven't played a Carvin ValveMaster 100 have you? When you do, it's a beast head. It will knock Marshall around. The crunch is so immaculate, it really is. They should have kept making them.
got my ht100 with 4x12 yesterday, greatest sounding amp i have ever played, love the 3 channel footswitch. you barely even need any effects, the amp has the best clean distorted and reverb channels built in to it. it even looks the coolest. why would you pay more for a marshall, there overrated.
This and the Eganter renegade head are very comparable. not sure which one i like best. i heard the rebel 30 and loved it... havent heard the Blackstar yet but it sounds good on here.
I wish they had included the settings on the amp as far as Bass,Treble ect. If anybody knows the basic setup for a Stevie Ray Vaughn sound please tell me.
Amp only no pedals, I heard it before but cannot find the site.
I hate that when they show the gain channels its always too saturated for me. I wish they would do something crunchier and more British... I'm more of an Orange guy
Hi, how would this thing do, along with a 2x12'' cab, with a bedroom volume? does it have a power switcher (to turn it down to 50 watts or less) for example, or a gain squeezer/booster, ... somethin like that to make it possible to play with at home?
I want to try this out. I am already blown away by my ht-5. It can do classic rock, classic metal, modern metal, and blues great. It can cover so much musical territory. I gotta hear the ht-100 in person!
wow definitely considering buying one of these now. sounds a hell of a lot better than my shitty marshall mg100. anyone know what these amps run in the u.s.?
I sold my JCM 2000 and triple recto for the series 1/200.And just sold it and my JCM 900 for 2 1/100's to rout in stereo. And IMO Blackstar has set a new bar in modern high gain amps.I was going to wait to hear the stage 100 but it doesnt have the DPR which was a big selling point for me.The DPR is huge for a working musician because very small gigs accessing the preamp tubes for gain with a 100 watt tube head is a bitch and you end up relying on your pedals for gain instead of accenting amp gain
