The opening takes so damn long to get through it just kills the excitement when you get killed by some cheap bullshit and have to do that all over again.
Tried this again I don't think I'll ever be able to do this without save states. It's been almost 20 years and I still can't do this without saving. The rest of the chapter isn't a problem this damn level just always beats me somehow whether it be from being slighty too close to a rocket blast due to how confined it is, falling off after grabbing all the radiation suits or a million different other ways of screwing up. Doom 2 is a walk in the park compared to this chapter.
You have to kill all the crocodemons and imps first then go down underneath and back up to the start. It's really hard but it's the only way you have to shoot the crocodemons as they come towards you from the back after killing at least all of the imps but one or two. That allows you to be able to dodge there fire and you have to keep targeting different croco's continually hitting them back until they all die then summon the last one by going forward to the edge of the start point.
Never beat this level all the way through without save stating on anything higher than the 3rd difficulty. Furthest I've ever made it on ultra violence was to the caves on the right and I accidentally blew myself up with a rocket fighting the second Baron down there. I hate this fucking level the game gets easier for me after this stage I normally don't even die after enduring all this insanity over a pit of death.
