  • I can play that and I'm 14 but just not that smooth

  • Peace brother, is it possible to send the back track your groovin to? Chris.ldunston@gmail.com

  • I think that is pure talent...

    FairPlay Sir!

  • This is not sax, this is sex!

  • nice reproductions of parker's solos...

  • Wow not only do you have a similar tone to Parker, but your phrasing reminds me of him too! Nice job!

  • Hey is that air conditioner for sale?

  • Really good! Well done.

  • Good job

  • how come you wear gloves?

  • @SuperFlyguy62 to protect from you hands slipping, i also play alto sax

  • @saxzphone oh ok thanks

  • very nice job....the Yani sounds wonderful...

  • Man, that air conditioner is badass.

  • Awesome playing

  • Where did you get the backing from may i ask?

  • Ditch the gloves - They will improve your dexterity and general feel on the keys (I say this from personal experience).

  • he sounds kinda like coltrane

  • Sounds great!

  • I'm watching the movie Bird now and the stuff they show him playing at the beginning as an amateur is better than the scene where he gets introduced to rock and roll for the first time.

  • could you send me the backing track?

  • i love my yani!!!

    its so nice...

  • he's reading..but he play good sax.

  • @Jazzclimber What's he reading off of? because this is definitely not from the omnibook...

  • @saxophoneninja ever consider the guy is actually improvising?.

  • Very nice sound good player !...

  • this isnt fake. i talked with netjazz years ago when he made this video and first posted it. its definitely all him.

  • watch?v=3XA_Jugejto&feature=related

  • I think the video is just behind. Hes finguring the notes that are being played. wouldnt make sense to fake it if he can get the notes.

  • Yani 992?

  • Freakn amazing

  • GREAT control.... good job

  • Fucking Brilliant!

  • The thing i love most about your sax playing is its under control. Nice articulation too. Well done.

  • alto maddnes

    very good!

  • buon fraseggio, bravo.

  • buon fraseeggio, bravo.

  • who doesnt like this vid?? this isnt Justin Bieber we are listeinin to

    great work, sounds amazing

  • @boring178 That's a funny comment.

  • I am going to try to learn this song in one day to play it for a mini performance at school. Think i can do it?

  • nice Yani 992

  • If I had a saxophone that nice looking i would wear gloves too, that way i can protect it from my fingerprints and what not

  • This really is one of the better recording of Confirmation on Youtube. Recordings of Charlie Parker himself are of course fantastic, but only in the artistic and musical sense. The quality of those old recording is usually a bit shabby, but what would you expect from the technology from the '40s and '50s.

    @strongone5000

I honestly can't care less about the lacquer on my own saxophone; most of it was gone anyway when I bought it. I bought it for other reasons.

  • what are you suppose to play at the turn or gruppetto? I don't know what its called...

  • nice try

  • 5 *****

  • Why ya wearin' glove'? sukah? mmm?

  • I believe its a yanagisawa with an underslung octave key

  • fake

  • @davisoad18

    Serious? Uh.. no.

  • What kind of saxophone? I thing yanagisawa but what?

  • unbeatable, what a sound !!!!!

  • Good vocabulary, just gotta clean up the timing of the lines.

  • Great technique, but why the gloves?

The Kings does sound different than the Selmer.

  • wow, this is great! I love how you can bring Bird's sound out without being a clone.

  • verry goog

  • Wow great job! Is that a King Super 20 you're playing? I play a Super 20 myself. They're killer horns. I can totally see why Bird played one.

  • very next to Parker's way, good !

  • has anyone seen number1saxophones videos??

  • haha number1sax is such a fail

  • @penndude92 - actually, he's a troll

  • Very nice work. I've tried and failed to play this piece many times. You have inspired me to try harder ^^

  • it sounds good. but your tone, in the upper register mostly, is thin or like a little weak. idk how to put it. just too blan for me, espically for bebop. maybe more air through the horn would help. but it sounds good, keep it up

  • yeahhhh

  • soundz like dem guys down at ronnie scotts

  • What are the gloves for!!

  • he was going to murder the saxophone after the video and didnt want to leave any fingerprints behind

  • @number1saxophone

You sir, are the definition of the word ASSHOLE

  • wtf? lol

  • @number1saxophone You're quite an idiot, aren't you? Go and post some lessons for expertvillage

  • @number1saxophone Ego blinds you as an artist...

  • maybe tears from his eyes watering from the out of tune shitty sound that comes from your saxophone!

  • bet your amazing though..... i mean really good.... bet you're the most prolific horn player since cannon ball....... go die

  • I was not commenting on net jazz, I was talking to number1saxophone! netjazzis killin

  • @number1saxophone, I've watched your videos. I would like to say that what you are playing is not modern jazz. what you are playing is just shitty music using jazz instruments. Now stop pestering the actual jazz players, and go play some of your disgusting whatever-the-hell your kind of music is.

  • Oh whoops, I thought you were commenting on netjazz. Sorry about the thumbs down man, should be a thumbs up!

  • That sax surely looks like a Yanagisawa, with the underslung octave key. Hard to tell if it's a sterling silver Yani or brass (the 991). Since he's wearing gloves , it could be a silver plated or a solid silver Yani. Anyway, he makes it sound great.

  • Very cool. Definetely one of my Parker tunes and I don't know what the other commentators are talkin about. I can hear your voice coming thru. Well done.

  • How old are you?

as well, what equipment do you use? (saxaphone, reeds, mouthpiece)

    Great job, love the sound!

  • hey this osunds really great. im 14 and aspiring professional tenor saxophonist. what were the steps that you took in order to be able to play bebop as fluidly as you did here? other than basslines and crazy transcribng and stuf

  • @FightingTheWitness practice practice practice and listen to a lot of pro tracks.

  • not bad imma go to the alto sax in like a yea but i have to master the tenor first

  • i love the sound of your sax, but yes, just like everyone else. Work on the musical part of it.

  • You rushed quite a few of the phrases but you have a great tone. Keep it up

  • Needs Soul! but sounds ok! Work on feelings. and not just notes.

  • Very Good! BUT ,it was a bit Mechanical. like you were reading from the Charlie Parker fake book. Try playing from the heart .You have mastered the notes and style Now ..put some SOUL into it.

  • very nice. i really dig your tone, whats your set up.

  • wow your preety fucking good bro

  • You gotta remember that parker made this all up at the spot. He was the shit!

  • you can play the mess out of that!!!!

im tryin to work it up on trombone..ahh!=O.

  • Straight up dude. the changes are no problem... but the head... oh my....

  • Wow what a great tone Parker mixed with Cannonball . More please fantastic

  • I've got to say, I prefer listening to this version over the original. Extremely well done.

  • me 2

  • his horn looks new. i doubt its vintage

  • dang you're good.

    i'm jealous. =)

  • Awesome playing, man!

  • Great stuff mean, really great. Sure wish I could improv like that. If you have any tips, shoot me a message or just reply to this comment

  • wtf?!

  • maximum awesomeness

  • i think it's actually a. yanagisawa

  • it is

  • @ComicSaxProductions no no, it can't be Yanagisawa. I think it's Panasonic. the air conditioner right?

  • Comment removed

  • man... i've already seen some of your videos and all I can say is... WHY THE FUCK DO YOU USE GLOOVES WHEN YOU PLAY???????????

  • maybe to protect the laquer

  • To keep his sax shinny.

  • great

  • nice one dude ;)

  • hey bro you sound good, but my question to you is, "are you reading the music,"

if not then your tight, if you are then you need to get away from the reading and actual transcribe charile parker yourself

  • I am going to ask you the same question Miles asked Bill Evans: "How does it feel to be a genius?"

You have nailed the bebop style right there! Fantastic playing!

  • what's with the gloves?

  • pretty good job my friend!!!

  • good job dude

  • he's japanese. trust him

  • Dude Fake? and what's with the 'sound' doesn't match 'quality' jargon. Post yourself on confirmation and then we can accept your authority.

  • hell yea man. im tired of people tryin to rip people apart on youtube. even tho they cant back it up

  • @trivediu You're a dork.

  • Comment removed

  • @trivediu Even if it fake, I don't think netjazz could have audio-synched it exactly with the video.

  • @trivediu Even if it is fake, I don't think netjazz could have audio-synched it exactly with the video.

  • Your time and technique are impeccable. Just work on fattening your tone up and you're a beast of a player. Nice bird quotes too.

  • I don't care what anybody says...you worked that out! Keep up the chops and blow the damn thing like you own it!

  • Excellent stuff man! Keep that bebop alive :)

  • Professional level, very good. Reminds me of my old Verve LP 'Charlie Parker: Now's The Time'. With thanks!

  • Do you always play with gloves on dude? Doesn't it slow down your fingers, or perhaps its some training exercise so you can play faster without them? Never seen that before

  • bebop lives!

  • yes!

  • hey dude, i'm just curious, what equiptment do you use? like, mouthpiece ligature reed ect. i'm just a fellow sax player that is very curious.

  • wow yyour amazing at the sax =D you should really keep at it

  • listen to: Stephano di Battista, Jerry Bergonzi

  • This is Jazz: when talented players play classics, they are SUPPOSED to, are OBLIGATED to put their own distinct sound to the song. Nobody wants copiers. This way many more good renditions of the song exist and so everyone is happy. @saxandgames btw.

  • i understand what you're saying wdilin, but i'd just like to point out that, if you're able to copy charlie parker's exact sound, you got chops cuz nobody can do it. also, "stealing" or "plagiarizing" in jazz is encouraged, since if you can cop someone's solo, not only do you make yourself a better player by playing like the pros, but you develop your ears.

  • Fucking awesome playing mate

  • Paraschos Neck?

  • that is impressive a good song

  • gz gg hf irl

  • YEA!!!!!!!!

  • My gosh! That was totaly

    AMAZING!!! ******

  • A couple of these guys thought that you said Bird Brain, not Yard Bird. I was raised on jazz from the first slap to the back side. You sound good. Keep studying, gig as mush as possible, and don't let any of these clowns rain on your parade baby.

  • Very Good, but you should work on sound and everything will be geat!

  • Wow that was great nice tone

  • Awesome !!

  • you sound great

  • haha nice man. i played that with jamey aebersold when i was 13

  • How old are you?

  • i noticed that your using a rovner ligurature, for a brighter sound( good for solos) try a normal metal ligurature

  • playing transcribed solos helps your technique alot it helps u get into the mind of the person that played the solo all of u that dont have anything positive to say should try it.... good job keep it up

  • Omnibook

  • No it does not! To really get into the mind of the player you have to transcribe the solo yourself - it improves the ear too. Try playing a Johnny Hodges written solo; its virtually impossible to get all the swoops and slurs he does without really listening to him. The only way to do that is to transcribe yourself. Playing someone elses transcription never gives you the full picture and many of them are wrong. However, if this is what you mean, please ignor my comment.

  • wow that amazing. i like ur sound XD

what horn and mouthpiece do have??

  • why do you play the same solo that parker

  • listen man. i dont know who u are but u are AMAZING. all of the haters trying to tell him how he should play should get a life and stop hatin'.

  • nice job What kind of horn do you use?

  • dude, great job. i had to play this for a combo class im in, and i got close to this on the melody, but the bridge, never got anywhere close. keep it up!

  • excellent job. hope to see parkers mood or now's the time on the next upload

  • so nice are you taiwanes?

  • Hey this dude is good why is everbody tryin to tell him how to play. Leave him alone. Nice job dude and thats commin from a Professional.

  • jazz is about improvisation. do you think bird memorized entire solos? no

  • I think what he's trying to get at is that you can't just jump into an improvisation totally unaware. You have to have a goal in mind. You have to know what the mood of the piece is, and you have to know the chord changes, and you have to know what is it you want your audience to feel. There are certain elements to improvisation that you should know, because I'm certain that no one is under the impression that improv = random string of notes.

  • do u mean sixteenths straight?

  • I don't know why this guy's gotten so many thumbs down. Apparently the YouTube jazz community doesn't understand bebop phrasing. If you were playing some old 1920's swing then yeah, swing the eighths like crazy. Bebop's completely different. It's way smoother and much more focused on upbeat punches. Listen to your recordings closely, they guys are barely swinging the eights if at all. Instead, you tongue on the upbeats, gives your phrases a little push.

  • I have to agree, but I think what causes it isn't really the player, but the fact that he's playing with a machine instead of an actual rhythm section. It sounds nasty when you play bebop with a metronome because in bebop, the beat is more implied, so it doesn't sound as stiff (and obviously, as you said, smoother).

  • Grande Charly !

  • Great playing. I try to play Parker tunes on bass guitar, but not even jaco pastorius could come near the fluency and speed of just an average sax player. Saxes are built for speed I guess.

  • Eh. It's not necessarily true. Every instrument has it's strengths and weaknesses. I've been playing saxophone for maybe 10 years and guitar for 3 or 4 years. There are passage I can run through on guitar that I couldn't dream of doing on saxophone. And vice versa.

  • because he looks tight wit them.

hes startn a new style! :D

    and its awsome!

  • why does he wear gloves?

  • and i am dealing with "merry go round"/// you r awesome

  • you are a very good improviser..i like your style.

  • great sound...great player as well...u'd make parker happy

  • now yes, you dont play tenor haha you play alt sax, you sound is good
