I'm watching the movie Bird now and the stuff they show him playing at the beginning as an amateur is better than the scene where he gets introduced to rock and roll for the first time.
This really is one of the better recording of Confirmation on Youtube. Recordings of Charlie Parker himself are of course fantastic, but only in the artistic and musical sense. The quality of those old recording is usually a bit shabby, but what would you expect from the technology from the '40s and '50s.
it sounds good. but your tone, in the upper register mostly, is thin or like a little weak. idk how to put it. just too blan for me, espically for bebop. maybe more air through the horn would help. but it sounds good, keep it up

Hey "sexman47", the gloves are for wiping his tears after he sees my band play. He's not bad but he shouldn't have payed it on such a shiny horn. You get much better tone out of an old, faded sax.
Feel free to check out any of my excellent videos for a lesson on MODERN jazz.
@number1saxophone, I've watched your videos. I would like to say that what you are playing is not modern jazz. what you are playing is just shitty music using jazz instruments. Now stop pestering the actual jazz players, and go play some of your disgusting whatever-the-hell your kind of music is.
That sax surely looks like a Yanagisawa, with the underslung octave key. Hard to tell if it's a sterling silver Yani or brass (the 991). Since he's wearing gloves , it could be a silver plated or a solid silver Yani. Anyway, he makes it sound great.
Very cool. Definetely one of my Parker tunes and I don't know what the other commentators are talkin about. I can hear your voice coming thru. Well done.

2. Memorise the solo you are going to play so you don,t star't rushing the beat (or dragging) but hear it clearly in your own head. Know where you are in the song by the sound of the chords. Play Bebop with Power and dynamics. You are telling a story so make it interesting. Don't be either afraid of Criticism - nor take it to seriously -Criticism is just someones opinion really. I think what he's trying to get at is that you can't just jump into an improvisation totally unaware. You have to have a goal in mind. You have to know what the mood of the piece is, and you have to know the chord changes, and you have to know what is it you want your audience to feel. There are certain elements to improvisation that you should know, because I'm certain that no one is under the impression that improv = random string of notes.
