  • Me and my pals loved this series even though it was *UBER* cheesy even in the 80s...

  • V 2009 = crap / V 80´s = the Best!

  • This theme was HEAVILY influenced by Peter Gabriel's "the rhythm of the heat" from 1982.

    watch?v=2X8o5Q2xA1w

  • Why on earth did they bother to remake this? Please leave the classics alone.

  • Damn, i absolutely ADORED this series and i remember sooo damn well it was simply one of the best made series of all time, without doubt.

  • The sad part about the synthesizer is that you NEVER hear it in films today.

  • @KingCommando32 Yea, I miss that sound. I wish I could download that instrument for Ableton Live software I use sometimes, would be great to have that synth

  • @qoaa So go buy a synth. I too love the sound. Or get the xpand or hybrid plug ins.

  • i HATE the newer one.

  • Great theme... the original miniseries had so much promise... when it became a series, it started to get too melodramatic. I haven't watched much of today's series, just didn't seem to hold much of the same feel. Shame, sci fi and special effects have come a long way.

  • @switcherx for the return of Diana in season 3, write to PAUL LEE at paul.lee@abc.com

  • theme rocks!!!!

  • I just watched through the 80's 2 miniseries - the first one and V: the Final Battle. Both have a really dark feel to them and a little campiness in the rest of the series. The one thing I did notice is I started watching the 80's V TV Series after the 2 mini-series' and you can tell the production quality dropped. The Series was NOT as good as the 2 mini-series beforehand. :( The theme for V: The Final Battle. was awesome. Tempted to make it a ringtone. :D

  • The remake doesnt have the eerie feel to it and is way too flashy and sparkly looking. The original made me shit myself years ago, and is still the best version.

  • the 1983 Version went MUCH faster and there was a bigger build up and more suspense because it was over three nights. Apparently, people are comparing this one and that one so much (one show per week v three shows over three nights). They get so impatient because its not moving "like the 1983 version". YOU Figure it out....

Both series are STAND ALONES and both are very well done. Stop trying to compare them. because they don't compare. 25 years apart

I'm offically blue in the face.

  • continued.

    4. Advancement of Human and V history has Advanced 25 years. The V have figured out that mm maybe we should make our voices sound like Humans...The advancements cloning and DNA mapping....new energy source developments... human history 25 years later. Geo-politics changed. No more cold war, arms race.

    5. I get the feeling that when people rip V 2009 (well SECOND season V 2011 now) . I get the impression they don't ever actually WATCH any of the episodes.

  • @lolwut71 I agree. It's like when people ripped the BSG remake. I bet most of them secretly liked it in the end. I was a skeptic of the new BSG before it came out, same with V. I loved the BSG revisioning and the new V revisioning is good as well (though it seems to be leaning towards a lot of elements from the remade BSG).

I love that The 5th Column was in the original V mini-series and they brought i back into the new V. :)

  • I always love to point out some very relivent facts to people who show a litteraly VICERAL hatred of V 2009.

    1. V 1983 was a MINI-SERIES --- that is 3 shows shown over three nights. You cannot compare a Weekly series with a Mini-series.

    2. V 1983 is NOT a re-make. Why is this ? because V 2009 has been written as if the 1983 version story world NEVER HAPPENED until 2009. That is the V delayed their ''revealing' themlseves 25 years. Thus why Diana is inprisioned by her daughter Anna.

  • Actually, there were 2 mini-series (V and V: The Final Battle) as well as a weekly series back in the 80's. There's really no comparison, however. It's apples to oranges. It's not like "Battlestar Galactica's" "re-imagined series," which clearly went in its own direction, while still honoring it's "parent" series. However, the creators of the current "V" series must have felt there must be kinship with the original that inspired it, or else they would not have cast Jane Badler or Marc Singer.

  • coolest*

  • Some of the coosest music ever.

  • Brilliant! I used to love this music.

  • no way. the orginal is ten times better. the 2009 show is moving so slow. We went thru an entire season and still have only 5 guys on the resistance. also the V's uniform are so dull. I do like the show though. just needs improvement.

  • Classic T.V. Series!!! Re-makes are always lacking originality these days!!! Love my Eighties!!!

  • it´s simply amazing: reflects perfectly the ambient of this story.

  • Which album is this song on? I want it.

  • Amazing theme. There's definitely a John Carpenter influence there, which is no bad thing....

  • @B5starfurry V for Victory in Nineteen Eighty-Four as well!

  • @B5starfurry and don't forget the popularization of "V for Victory" with Victor de Laveleye (franco/belgian minister) during world war 2...

  • hi ok for Barry De Vorzon but wich synthetizer he used ?

  • this and the terminator came oot the year i was born they are both mint

  • Simple and menacing - a bit of Bladerunner mixed with Vangelis.

  • Simple and menacing - a touch of Vangelis too.

  • :/ Why do people have to ruin EVERYTHING nowdays? It's like they're doing it to piss us off.

  • Has anyone got an artist or track name for this theme? It brings back alot of good memories. The theme still gives me goose bumps! lol.

  • V 2009 is shit. Pure and simple. It has nothing iconic that will be remembered in 2 years time never time twenty or thirty. God to have grown up in the 80's, I realise now what a prilvelage it was to have been an 80's child. V, Airwolf, Street Hawk, The A-Team, Predator, Top Gun, Leathal Weapon, Die Hard. Where is all original thinking gone.....! Replaced by reality T.V. crap and shit music

  • This is nothing like V 2009. Imo, V 2009 is much better. It has more hip and up to date music and themes. I am sure in the 80´s this was fine. But today people want more pop and teenage theme in television! And also the cast and production is more better in V 2009 because of cgi. I am still waiting for the laser fights! And suspence! Or something thrilling... And.... Waiting.... Who am i kidding.... V 2009 SUCKS MAJOR ASS! Did it need to be remade!? NO!!!

  • @KonChul LOL until the end of that comment i was preparing to rage at you so much :) V 2009 is ok in it's own way but I think that the skimping of the nicer parts of the original (the multi-throated voices of the aliens mainly) was just so unacceptable. i mean i can see why they did it, because they wanted to make it easier to have INFILTRATORS to play off the whole terrorist-cell idea inspired by modern conflict but still ... they're not truly The Visitors without the cool voices.

  • I hate how in the new one, The Visitors are actually called Vs. It shows how ignorant the creators of the remake are to the original and is proof they didn't even watch it. The V didn't represent the aliens at all. It was the resistance's tag.

  • @KonChul CHEESE? Need some CHEESE with your WHINE?

    YES!

  • @KonChul the new series is bloody rubbish i wish they would leave the classics alone now, i watch these at least once a month the music in it is class!

  • @ilovehousemusic84 I watched 4 episodes of the remake, then i had enough.

  • @KonChul

One day I was talking with some friends about the 80s. There like 'Yeah! I miss those days!" Then some emo jerked kid comes along and says "The Synthesizer SUCKS. I hated those effects. Like whyu didn't they used computer like today?" And we all turned around on him and yelled 'No YOU SUCK you little fag. Like back then they had CGI what a joke. " We were so mad that this emo kid came along and said that.

  • @KonChul Die, please just die and rid us of your stupidity.

  • @KonChul So glad it got shit-canned.

  • What a great summer! The LA Olympics and V. My aunt used to video V for me, cos it was on too late. I was only 10, probably shouldn't have been watching it. Happy days.

  • i reckon it was Joseph Harnell who composed the original theme for the miniseries. He also wrote the 'famous' Cagney and Lacey soundtrack. (which Mike Post transposed for LA Law)

  • Someone like Oakenfold, or Tiesto or Claudia Cazacu, or Could 9, or Armin Van Buuren needs to re mix it and give it a current electronic edge... it would eb the coolest remix ever! Has so many potentials and variations for development

  • Thanks! I remember how cool this intro was when I couldn't stay up to see the whole show as a boy!
