It is used to celebrate any situation whereby women take advantage of men or exploit their names for success. Unless men benefit somehow. Then it isn't empowering because men are "the enemy".
Mr. Edwards isn't waiting around for Ms.Edwards to die so he can cash in on her book $?! As if that outcome would happen in this gynocracy anyways.
I'm on the right, but at the very LEAST, these women stuck by their husbands as wives should.
I agree with Sonja but would say it a little stronger. Women who stick to their cheating husbands are weak and pathetic creatures! empowering? what a f'ing joke, but hey if a women is stupid enough to stick around for more then enjoy your misery, you have no one to blame but yourself.
I do miss Clintons sad face remember that? when he gets caught he looks like a 5 year old caught in the cookie jar and makes the sad face to avoid punishment! priceless!!
LOL! Thanks Sonja! Great video! The Edwards, like most liberals are PURE TRASH, living on blood money!
The media is corrupt & owned! They're no better than Al Jezzera or the old Soviet "provda"! Its not news, its all propaganda & only liberals buy the shit!
First, the dems have had a Supermajority for most the healthcare legislation process. We don't want bipartisanship because we are right, dems are wrong and we wont settle for a 'less broken' government, we want a working one.
"...from the certain destruction of liberal influences (what Hitler did) "
Yes, that's why Hitler supported and enacted the same policies liberals stand for. gun control, uni. healthcare, public education, not to mention Eugenics...
@MrCBRIDD Once again a republican demonstrates why we can't get anything done. "Yes, that's why Hitler supported and enacted the same policies liberals stand for. gun control, uni. healthcare, public education, not to mention Eugenics... " Eugenics? Please. I won't waste time arguing w/you about Hitler's rightwing fanaticism because that's been settled for a long time now. "We don't want bipartisanship because we are right." Now, that smacks of Hitler.
First off, none of those policies I showed were even remotely economical in nature. They were all about Hitler taking control of the public sector so that he could enforce whatever edicts he wanted, including the extermination of jews, Eugenics.
@badluck1986 Badluck, Like what, pulling the gold fillings out of his murder victims teeth? Selling thier organs? Performing experiments on live humans? You're one sick bastard!
@flyboymd82 Well as if dead people are goin to need their organs or gold fillings anymore. If the jews had taken better care of their teeth then they wouldn't have needed fillings.
Ok I strongly object to what I just said, but you can't really believe any of the comments you read on this medium. The origional argument was some Jackass basicically said that the democrats are Nazis and that Obama is Hitler... what a doosche
Your concept of American principles and history is so skewed by PROGESSIVE ideology it's unbelievable! You accuse a party of "similarities" to fascism and have yet to name ONE factual statement supporting your claims!
You posted 2 FULL pages of opinionated talking points, yet cast slurs and insults at anyone that provides factual evidence to the contrary...on EVERY point!
Your "party of tolerance" is exclusive ONLY for members with your like-mindedness...isn't it?
You must mean by the REPs attempt's to "spread the wealth" ... or demonize the rich...or cap private salaries...or create "fairness" doctrines to limit opposing speech...or nationalize a uniformed civil military force...or institute affirmative action programs for certain groups...or outlaw light bulbs based on manipulated G/W science...or mandate evolutionism in schools and sex ed to first graders...or mock "gun toting bible thumpers".
Sonja Schmidt sounds like a true American role model of independent thinking, straightforward talk & courage. Bravo to the bright & brave women of this country!!! Keep hope alive!!!
Why does Sonja have a picture of Obama and his wife in the same frame with the other two men that cheated; while she questions being able to trust the men after the marriage vows paralleling that with taking care of our country? Has Obama cheated?
Consider this; out of the entire human race, the only people who think like you are a relatively small group of rightwing Americans who think they're right and everyone else is wrong. No one has a more wasteful health care system than the US and yet we're the only industrialzed nation w/o universal health care, and the vast majority of those "others" like their health care systems and no one is trying to change those health care systems to be more like ours. Think about it.
Actually, Canada is moving more towards a health care system like ours because too many people cannot get the aid they need in the public sector so they are paying for privatized health care.
Funny, I haven't heard any clamoring from our northern neighbors about wanting American's health care system. But if it's true they'll get it done. After all, they're a democracy, right? Email me back when they do this. If their system is so despised it shouldn't take but a few months. Are you holding your breath?
I'm not saying our healthcare system is fantastic as it is now. It simply needs to be regulated so insurance companies can't screw clients out of their claims and so that tort reform will allow doctors to do their job without getting sued for "pain and suffering" when its not legitimate. The public healthcare plan will only drive the income tax up in order to compensate, which means more of my tax dollars will go to people who don't get a job themselves.
If the Republicans are so great, why didn't they do anything about our health care disaster when they had the chance? They didn't even discuss it when they were in power. Do you realize that our system is the only health care system in the industrialized world that doesn't cover everyone and yet it is by far the most expensive? And do you really expect the Republicans, who get millions of dollars from the insurance industry, to clamp down on the insurance industry in a significant way?
Of all the industrialized nations we spend by far the most on our health care system per capita and cover the smallest percentage. There are nearly 50 uninsured Americans (2x the pop. of Iraq, who get theirs free)and millions more under-insured. Unaffordable health care is the #1 reason for bankruptcies in the US. Medicaid and Medicare are going broke. And with all this going on, our health care costs are continuing to increase. But if you have to ask, I doubt you'll understand any explanation.
Yes, you can easily find these facts by doing a google search. Did you know you can also find the name of our first president doing a google search? These facts should be easily accessible. And they are true. The problem with Republicans is that they've become so delusional that they disregard any facts that stand in the way of their attempt to destroy our democracy. The truth means nothing to them. The end always justifies the means. And done so in the name of Jesus. Sick.
Now, there's a real intelligent & thought provoking response. You make it clear why rightwingers resent people who can think, which is not a movement I want to see our nation following.
The US cannot sustain our current approach to healthcare. It's adding to the national debt, it's crushing the middle class, and it's the #1 reason for bankruptcies in the US. The Dems recognize this and are trying to come up w/solutions. The Reps prefer that we don't veer from our current collision course.
Actually Canada is not a democracy - it is a constitutional monarchy - and between the usurpation of power by the judicial system and the constant powerless minority governments holding office, the entire Canadian system of government has pretty much ground to a halt.
Look at several countries in Europe where left parties are swept away everywhere, while rightwing parties are on the march.
In the Netherlands for example the socialist PvdA had 23,4% of the votes in council elections, at the moment not even 9% of the Dutch people want to vote for them. The rightwing PVV is in the biggest predicted party at the moment. It's not only in the United States, leftists are hasbeens everywhere. We now see through their cheap populism.
You're demonstrating the Rightwing's ignorance on Europe. Sure, most European countries that don't want a socialist government. I don't either. I don't know any Democrat who wants the US to become socialist. Duh! But the rightwing parties in Europe are more like moderate Democrats are here. The Nazis cured Europe of wanting far right politics. And I doubt that you'll find any of those European political parties running on dismantling their health care systems. Obama's popular in Europe.
The nazi's? You mean the national-SOCIALISTS? lol, if you would have looked a little bit better at nazi's / fascism and their believe in total government control you would have known that nazi's are leftwing. The government decides how you must behave, that was Hitler's ideology. And that included enviromental issues, living healthy and how you must think about social issues.
The rightwing parties at least in the Netherlands become more conservative parties: we want our mental freedom back!
Communism is associated with leftist ideology and fascism is associated with the right. You shouldn't try to change facts just because you don't like them--a typical Republican approach.
@ginchinchili History reads that way because American fascists didn't want to be connected to the barbarism of the Third Reich. But in practice and theory, both ideologies wanted the exact same thing: the eradication of individuality and the rise of a powerful, central state. They all wanted control from Lenin and Hitler straight to Castro and Mao and so forth.
Huey P. Long once said that if fascism ever came to America it would call itself anti-fascist. Progressives turn to government for answers because there's no where else to turn. Pull government out of the mix and corporations take over. Corporations don't have our best interests at heart, as demonstrated by the abuse perpetrated on the Middle Class by the insurance industry, and the Republicans have done everything in their power to protect the status quo, which is destroying the Middle Class.
lol that has nothing to do with "Republican approach".
Whole books have been written why the national-SOCIALISM was a "left" organisation. Both Hitler as Mussolini were active in socialists movement btw. Mussolini even had a whole career in the socialist party before forming the fascist party.
Also I"m Dutch, so I'm not really into american politics, it's okay if you call my approach "republican" but I'm not a real republican.
I assume you're referring to this statement: "You shouldn't try to change facts just because you don't like them--a typical Republican approach." That's exactly their approach. For example, one of their primary talking points against the current healthcare proposal is that it will produce death panels where bureaucrats would be deciding if grandma is going to live or die. It's a complete lie, but the Repubs used it in their arguments over and over again.
Another example is when Joe Wilson meretricious shouted during Obama's first address to Congress, "You lie!" (Demonstrating Republicans lack of respect for America's honored institutions.) Wilson's remark was made following Obama's contention that the healthcare bill would not cover illegal aliens. Indeed, the bill contained language that specified that coverage would not be extended to illegal aliens. That fact didn't stop Repub supporters from donating millions to Wilson's reelection campaign.
Both of the above responses are directed to you, likewise the following 2. Why would you think otherwise? They are in direct response to your comments. I'm giving examples of how the Repubs ignore truth in favor of lies that promote their ideology, how fascism is a rightwing ideology and how you can see fascist characteristics in today's Republican Party. They use nationalism to concentrate power. They work in tandem with industry for greater control. Their ideology is inherently racist, etc.
What is wrong with nationalism? And why is nationalism rightwing? Communist countries are also nationalistic so it cannot be part of the right/left discussion.
Nationalism is the foundation in every society, it holds countries together, and it's an important power against all kinds of ngo's who want power without anyone "backing them up'...well beside the government money ofcourse...which means governments are talking with organisations paid by them....that's international politics nowadays.
Again, I'm trying to show you that today's Rep Party promotes an ideology with much in common w/fascism. Nothing wrong w/nationalism until it is used to manipulate people. For example, the Reps have taken to accusing others of being unpatriotic or anti-American when they speak out against Repub policies. They did this when Bush and the Repubs were trying to cajole the the nation into invading Iraq. It's the worst kind of abuse of nationalism. Very fascist in nature.
Terms like "unpatriotic" are ofcourse abused by politicians. But the same counts for terms like "progressive" and "helping poor" and "internatinalism" . You must always think for yourself and I personly think the Democrats abuse minorities by giving money to all kinds of "do good" organisations. They buy support. They abuse minorities to get their votes but don't have a real view on society.
We are talking about Repub ideology having similarities to fascism. Terms like progressive, helping poor & internationalism have nothing to do w/fascism. Publicly accusing someone of being unpatriotic because they don't agree w/your views is typical of fascist ideology--using nationalism to manipulate the masses.
96% of African Americans vote Dem. Are you suggesting that they're abusing themselves? Or are you suggesting that they can't think for themselves? I've wasted enough time with you.
yes, terms like "progressive" "helping poor" and "workining together / internationalism" or all terms abused to put yourself as good, and the other one as bad. Accusing the other one of fascism is the same...saying the others are bad. That empty rhetoric is not really intellectual. Think for yourself, please.
And look at the way you are accuse me of something I don't say.. so childish.....to be honest....I could almst say your way of argueing is truely "fascistic".
Cajole a nation into war? Is that how Nazi Germany under Hitler became a facist nation?
Hitler did not rise to power by promising war and voilence. He pormised national TRANSFORMATION, peace, pride, unity, and a HUGE social welfare program run by the gov't.
The Repubs ideology is LESS social welfare and LESS gov't.
The Liberal ideology is BIG gov't...i.e, social programs, and massive gov't control/regulation.
Since you're "not really into American politics" then perhaps you should ask questions rather than make assertions about areas that you don't know about. I've had to put up with this crap all of my 53 years. Fascism is an extreme rightwing ideology that is very much tied to rabid nationalism, racism (Repub's are 99% white Christians) and culvates close working relationships between industry and government. If you don't think that evinces the Republican Party then you don't know them very well.
Fascism is not right wing, it's a leftists anti-democratic ideology, just like communism.
Nationalism has nothing to do with "left"or "right", both Stalin and Mao were extremely nationalistic, were they right or left? And if a political party excists of a lot of white people, they are racists? You don't believe that yourself I hope. Close working relationship between industry and government is part of communism as well. The state even dictates how much companies will procude in those systems.
Like I said, just because you don't like the truth doesn't mean you can change it:
fascism [ˈfæʃɪzəm]
1. any ideology or movement inspired by Italian Fascism, such as German National Socialism; any right-wing nationalist ideology or movement with an authoritarian and hierarchical structure that is fundamentally opposed to democracy and liberalism
2. any ideology, movement, programme, tendency, etc., that may be characterized as right-wing, chauvinist, authoritarian, etc.
lol quoting a definition and that proves your point......while I give the arguments to prove that fascism isn't right wing but part of the socialist family, like communism , like national socialism. Look at the definition you give yourself and you must see yourself that you also put that definition on communist government. That means the definition isn't good. Do you know what the slogan was of the Dutch national-socialist? "Together against capitalism" / Samen tegen het kapitalisme. Rightwing?
I'm trying to show you that fascism is a rightwing ideology. It is. It's not a debatable point. Since you ignore the truth, I decided to send you the definition. So now you're arguing that the definition is wrong and you're right. LOL...what more can I do? You might as well argue that the world is flat. I could send you a passage stating that it's not flat from an encyclopedia or an astronomy book and you'd still insist you're right. Like I said, if the truth is inconvenient, Repubs ignore it.
Fascism is so far from rightwing ideology that it's almost polar opposites. If you want to compare fascism to politics in the US, compare the LIBERAL LEFT!!
Hitler nationalized the banks, industry, the media, & education. Seized private guns. Created a militia (SS) that reported directly to him. Civil service of children in Nazi youth.
Obama seeks control of banks, wall street, energy, media, liberal education, civil military force, opposes gun ownership, etc.
Your post is so ignorant on the facts that it would just be a waste of time arguing with you. Look up the definition of fascism yourself. Then look up the definition of liberalism. Your BS may play well on this board, but it has no foundation in reality. Fascism is about control using corporations facilitating that control. Who, for example, is working with the insurance industry to stop Dems from establishing a public insurance option that would force insurance companies to lower premiums?
Really? Just which FACT did I post about the Liberal left that was wrong?
YOU say facsism is about control using corps. Well, who is in control in the Senate...the House...the Presidency? The Repubs are NOT in charge...nor does their vote count with a DEM supermajority!!
WHO is stopping the DEMS from passing health care? That's your question. Care to answer it yourself? YOU HAVE A SUPERMAJORITY!!! YOU CAN PASS WHATEVER YOU WANT!!
What's ignorance? Looking up a wikipedia definition of fascism and then applying that definition to anyone with an (R) by their name...that's ignorance!!
Fascism exists when gov't CONTROLS the citizenry through the private sector. It has NOTHING to do with party affilliation. More gov't control = greater fascism!
Now...when did the Repubs take CONTROL of the housing market, the banks, the cars, wall street, education, unions?
You just aren't smart enough to waste time debating. You can't even understand the definition of fascism when it's right there in front of your face. It's wrong and you're right...LOL. You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. You're also claiming that labor unions are a tool for, what, fascists? That's just ignorant. Unions are a big part of what created the great American middle class. You rightwingers need to quit relying so much on the notes on your hand and lean to think.
@ginchinchilli said: You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.
Which facts were wrong? WHICH political party touts MORE gov't control? Or better yet...what fascist ideology or action is touted by the Repubs?
I'm NOT claiming labor unions are a tool. I stated that FASCIST Germany embraced a unionized labor force that, in turn, embraced gov't control. A union can only ALLOW itself to become a tool.
Well, floormat, you got me there. The Dems support the unions so obviously the Dems are fascist....lol You're so clueless it's scary. I live in Miss where unions have no power. Mississippians also make the lowest pay per capita than any other state, i.e., the poorest state in the union. It's also a state primarily run by Repubs...hmmm...suppose there's a connection between these 3 facts? Yes, I know, it's the Democrats' fault. What a chump. Give it up. You're hopelessly dumb.
Why are you being so defensive? YOU are the one claiming that the Repubs are fascist. Now is that YOUR opinion,,,because you are certainly NOT providing facts...just typical liberal name calling/insults!
I compared the facts of fascist Germany to the political parties in the US. Now...which party has behaved or supports policies closer to that of a fascist gov't, like Nazi Germany?
Or...which fascist ideology is supported by the Repubs? You HAVEN'T named ONE FACT!!!
You haven't addressed one charge I've presented here in a dozen or so posts, except my assertion that fascism is a rightwing ideology and that there are many similarities between fascism and the Repub Party, and there's no sense discussing that when you can't admit that fascism is a rightwing ideology, even after I post the definition. I learned that in political science 101. It's obviously a class you missed. It's a fact. You might as well argue that the world if flat. You're mind is shut.
You're right...I'm only asking about the ONE charge you made about fascism. But instead of answering any questions I had to prove your point, you simply refer to the Webster's definition.
Since you're the self-admitted professor of poly-si, teach me. Name the fascist similarities that you contend exist in the (R) ideology.
Why should anyone LABEL a party or its ideology solely based on a dictionary definition? The political landscape has dramatically changed over 30 yrs.
First, we'll start w/a definition & it doesn't even mention "rightwing." It's from Websters (American enough for you?): a political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.
Remember, I didn't say the Repub party was fascist. I stated that they had a lot of characteristics in common.
Take the 1st part of that: exalts nation & often race above the individual. The Repubs are always using patriotism as a weapon against the Dems as if the Repubs are more patriotic. They arent. When Bush was cajoling the nation into invading Iraq Repubs accused any Dem of being unpatriotic and even anti-American if they even questioned Bush (part of Congresss job). They carry signs depicting Obama as Hitler.
Even Palin recently suggested that war can be used for political gain, as in playing the war card. The very mention of it is frightening. So the Repubs like to wave the flag and claim that they are the patriotic party, which is ridiculous considering that the Dem Congressmen had more sons serving in the military than the Repubs in Iraq.
Both Bush and Cheney squirmed their way out of serving in Vietnam then had the audacity to suggest that Kerrys service to our nation was somehow dishonorable, as they disgracefully did w/Max Cleland, and man who sacrificed his limbs to serve our country while Bush and Cheney were over here living it up. Disgraceful. It should be no surprise to you that the Repub Party is 98% white. Do you think its a coincidence?
The South used to be a solid voting block for the Dems until the Dems faced up to the difficult truth that we were not living up to the ideals set forth by our Founding Fathers in the Dec of Indep & our Constitution. So the Dems pushed the civil rights laws through Congress without the help of the Repubs and, what were then called the Dixiecrats. After that the South veer to the hard right because the Repubs were a Party who would side with them against rights for minorities.
Yes, nationalism and race above individual rights. What Party wants a Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage and have fought against gay rights throughout the country? Repubs dont even want to allow gays the right to fight for their country. Crazy. What Party is so ardently against the legalization of marijuana? Even after Oregon and Calif passed laws allowing pot used for medicinal purposes, the Bush admin threatened to trump states rights with federal law enforcement.
Did you know that there are still dry counties in the US, where you cant buy alcohol & in some case you cant even possess it? They are all conservative counties. Which Party prevent us from buying cheaper prescription drugs from Canada? The Repubs. Why? Because the pharmaceutical companies are filling their pockets with cash to prevent that from happening because it would cut into their profits. These are drugs that are made in the US!
There are Repubs who even are insisting that creationism be taught in public school even though there is no scientific grounds for it. Its an example of them using government to force their religious beliefs on the public. That belongs in the church where people can freely choose which church they want to attend, or none at all. Do you remember the Terri Schiavo case in Florida. That was perhaps the most egregious example of Repub abuse of power.
They actually passed a law to interfere in a single, individual matter, a law that would effect no on but the Schiavos family! That is not the American way. The husband had spent years trying medical and therapeutic procedures to help his braindead wife. Finally, he took her out to Calif to a doctor who took an MRI of her brain and showed the husband that there was nothing there.
According to Florida law, the spouse of someone in a catatonic state like Terry Schiavo who could not live w/o the help of machines could determine whether or not to stop the mechanisms that are keeping the spouse alive. After 10 years Terrys husband finally decided to carry out his wifes wishes and let her die—AND THE REPUBS HAD THE NERVE TO USE THE CASE FOR POLITICAL GAIN. Shame on them.
So much for individual rights. The Repubs are only for individual rights when it pleases them and works for them politically. And rather than work within the Democratic system designed by our Founding Fathers, the Repubs are now doing everything within their power, often abusing that power, to prevent the majority Party and a Democratically elected American President from accomplishing ANYTHING.
The only act of Obamas that they supported—and they criticized him for this as well—was escalating the war in Afghanistan. Those Repubs just cant resist a good war, just as long as they dont have to do the fighting. To be fair, neither Party is autocratic, though the Repubs refuse to share power with the Dems. They want nothing to do with bipartisanism and theyve made that clear.
The Dems at least try to work with the Repubs and did so quite a bit during Bushs presidency. But neither is autocratic nor does either party have an absolute ruler. Not yet, anyway, though it wouldnt surprise me if one day a strong charismatic Repub insisted that in order to take back our country from the certain destruction of liberal influences (what Hitler did)
they would have to temporarily curtail some civil liberties, e.g., wire tapping our phones, banning the right to assemble w/o gov approval, etc. & folks like yourself would be all for it, in the name of patriotism.
Lets be clear, the Dems arent trying to take over any industry. They did follow up on Bushs lead of pumping money into the major banks. But instead of just giving them money, the gov bought major shares of these banks and kept them, and the world economy from complete collapse.
But they didnt take over the banks and start running them. The Repubs dont do this either, however, both the Reps and the Dems accept contributions for major industries in return for legislation that is favorable to those industries. At least the Dems want to change that dynamic, but the Repubs wont have it. Take the healthcare bill. The Repubs like to claim that the Dems are trying to take over the health care industry. This scares people, though its not true.
They do want to offer a public option that would compete with insurance companies forcing them to lower their rates. This would hurt insurance company profits, but would be a great help to the American middle class. The insurance companies have backed the Repubs with some heavy cash and the Repubs, in lockstep, have prevented the Dems from helping the middle class once again.
I could go on for hours, but this venue is not very conducive for this type of discussion. Besides, I know youll ignore everything anyway. Its just a shame that the Repubs are willing to sacrifice the best interests of our country simply because they want things their way only. Theyre not willing to compromise one iota (unless it means more war).Theyre selfish, narrow-minded, dishonest, abusive, greedy, anti-Democratic, and dangerous to our Republic as envisioned by our Founding Fathers.
They are hell bent on dividing our country for want of power. It will bring down our country, make no mistake about. When someone like Rush Limbaugh accuses our president of assisting the terrorists to harm our country and millions believe it, that's unAmerican and dangerous to the best interests of our nation. And make no mistake, nothing would make the Repubs happier than for there to be another terrorist attack on Obamas watch. When this happened on Bush's watch, the Dems rallied around Bush
But if it happens on Obama's watch, don't expect the same act of patriotism from the Repubs. They will use the event for political gain at our nation's expense. And that's a promise. I don't see how any thinking American can align themselves with the Republican Party.
Are you even reading what you are saying? If a public option from the gov't hurts private profits, how is that good? Loss of profit means loss of jobs, HIGHER medical costs to sustain a profit, or business foreclosure!
Private business stays in business with capital from profits. The gov't has NO profit or capital except from the revenue from TAXPAYERS or from printing more money. Either way, the gov't has a bottomless bit "advantage" of money to operate H/C. Fair? NOT!
How is a 3,000 page H/C bill with GREATER gov't CONTROL and mandates BY the gov't to purcahse insurance, by penalty of fine or imprisonment, NOT a take over?
H/C is private industry! When the gov't dictates rules of business in this capacity, it is very TRUE that it is a take over.
@ginchinchili So When Gingrich and the Republicans took the House in 94 it wasn't scare tactics to say the were trying to starve the children and senior citizens? The fact is they weren't, but the Democrats and their stooges, the media intentionally misrepresented it.
@ginchinchili This is different. There are 2 ways to take over something. The first is to take ownership away from the owners, and you're correct, this hasn't happened. But the second way is to regulate it to the extent that you control it without formal ownership. This HAS happened. It isn't scare tactics, but FACT.
That was NOT the purpose of TARP! That program was supposed to buy "toxic assets". Didn't happen. Instead, the money was given to banks and insurance companies.
Second, Bushes "stimulus" sent checks to taxpayers...Obama's didn't. The gov't now OWNS shares in banking AND auto industry...with the unions!! With ownership of private shares comes ownership of private property!! UNCONSTITUTIONAL!! That's a take-over!!
The DEMs were in the MINORITY in Bush's first 6 years! How can the minority work with the majority if the majority doesn't allow it? I would say the Repubs ALLOWED the Dems to work at that time.
But as soon as the DEMs got the MAJORITY, different story! It doesn't matter whether the REPs are willing to work or not...if the DEMs majority don't ALLOW it.
That is one of the most cynical ignorant arguments I've heard from Repubs, & there have been many. Tell that to the families of those losing loved ones in Iraq. Obviously you'd never served or you wouldn't make such a comment. What about the 100,000 innocent Iraqis killed? I suppose they don't count because they're rag heads, eh? The war was built on lies and was unnecessary. Now we've made Iran, a REAL threat, a much more powerful enemy and have give Al Qaeda another country to work out of.
I've had enough. From this point on you're talking to yourself. You hate democracy and want Repubs to take over and rule 100% at any cost. That's the bottom line. That's too bad for you and too bad for this country.
The Iraqi civilian deaths are NOT the responsibility of this NATION defending itself! It was the responsibility of the COWARD LEADER of Iraq that instigated war with other countries as well...Iran, Kurds, Kuwait!!! Saddam PLACED his people in military targets. He himself KILLED millions with gas, torture and starvation!
Civilian deaths? Defend Saddam's Skuds into Israel or Hitler's buzz rockets into Britian or Japan's rape camps in China/Korea!
Again, you just aren't smart enough. I learned American history AND I learned how to read, unlike you, because if you could read you would see that I didn't state that we are a democracy. I said that we have a democratic system designed by our FF. Recall Bush's "spreadin' democracy'? If you had a brain you'd know the difference. The Dems no longer have a supermajority, but you miss the point. Dems have a majority. Repubs should respect that. All it would take is one Repub willing to work w/Dems
cont': The (D) party of JFK is hardly what it is today...neither is the (R) party of Reagan. Liberal used to mean "libertarian"...individual freedom, free market, opposition to gov't rule. That's NOT what it means today!!
If a party advocates socialism and greater gov't control, wouldn't that party be socialist...regardless of the (D) or (R) after their name...and regarless of what the definition in Webster's says?
Which Party wants to do away with labor unions, organizations formed to protect the rights of working Americans and hated by corporate America? Yes, it's about control. Repubs just don't like American democracy. They are preverting our system to prevent a popularly elected president from accomplishing ANYTHING. They filibuster bills then turn around and vote for them. Sen Shelby is holding up all of Obama's appointees until he gets a big helping of pork of his state, Alabama. Wake up!
Nazi Germany embraced a "unified workforce" in the private sector as part of it's socialist/nationalist agenda. Offering gov't preference to a unionized labor force ensured loyalty to the Nazi party. Preference like GM shares the unions got or the 40% tax cut on the healthcare bill.
The unions in the US greatly support the DEM party...not the Repubs. So which party compares closer to fascism...the Repubs with NO union support...or the DEMs with nearly total union support?
Do you think it's just coincidence that the Repub Party is made up of 99% white heterosexual Christians and that almost all other races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations--let's just say almost all other people--along with a lot of white heterosexual Christians/non-Christians are Dems? Can you really be so naive? Do you not know that the US south used to vote almost entirely Democratic? Why do you think they've switched to the Repub Party during the civil rights movement in the '60s?
So what do you have against white heterosexual Christians? Shouldn't your critics on the Republicans be more fundamental?
You're in discussion with a gay man btw, and I'm more rightwing because I believe conservatism gives individual freedom to people. And freedom with a responsability to society. And that responsability does not come from government rules, it comes from within. Seeing yourself part of society and contributing to it to your personal skill.
Why do you even suggest that I have something against white heterosexual Christians? I don't, nor did I state anything that should make you think that. My point is obvious. The Repub Party is very homogeneous, which is another distinct characteristic of fascism. There's nothing wrong with homogeneity in itself, but the Repub Party is homogeneous because they are not open minded toward others who are different from themselves, and that is wrong. As I said, they are not homogeneous by coincidence.
So in reaction to a youtube vlog by a black conservative woman and in discussion with a gay conservative man, you're stating that the Republican Party is homonogeneious because they are not open minded. lol
You must realize yourself that that is funny don't you?
No. What's funny is that you aren't smart enough or principled enough to admit that Repubs are a homogeneous group, and you think that's disproved by citing one gay Repub male and one black female Repub. That's ridiculous & only proves my original point: when confronted with facts they don't like, Repubs pretend they don't exist. Prove to me that a significant percentage of gays & black Americans vote Repub, I'll apologize & admit I'm wrong, but you might as well be proving the world is flat.
Lol, like she is the black person who is a conservative, and I"m the only gay person who is a conservative. Why is it important how many gays or black people vote Republican? sigh......
What does that prove? I"m sorry I really an argument with someone who can argue better.
Wow LedOutMan ! You say Sonja is only telling one side of the story? Other then Fox, what network ,NBC,CBS or ABC has ever told both sides of the story ? Liberals automatically think their way is the only way. Sonja rocks !
no i can agree with that comment. but that is not what she said. and we cannot judge that for certain, after all we don't know Hillary.
unfortunatley sonja is not doing a real reporters job, which is to tell both sides of the story objectively. unfortunaly she has only stated one quite subjectively
that is tabloid reporting not journalism
i can agree about the rest of american media and news, it seems more like nonsensical ranting than good journalism.
Sonja is a beautiful person. She is a no nonsense reporter who should be emulated by some of the other brainless talking heads on the major networks. Pert Katie Couric could take lessons from her.
"Letoutman" says Sonja is talking tabloid as we hear her talking about those tabloids, so is she is conderdictive? hardly the truth! Sonja brings facts, places common sense right next to those facts. thinking for herself and not follow to the woodstock drums! everyone saw HILLARY ride Bills coat-tails. does Hillary seem like a woman who takes shxx from any man? well, thats only 1 example of Sonja's reports. she's far different than any!
What she should have said is that Hillary stayed with Bill because she had her eye on the presidency. That is the only reason Hillary stayed with Bill. Do you really think she would have stayed with him if he was a nobody?
I'm sick of this term "empowering".

I do miss Clintons sad face remember that? when he gets caught he looks like a 5 year old caught in the cookie jar and makes the sad face to avoid punishment! priceless!!

@MrCBRIDD Yes hitler had some pretty good economic policies, people are allowed to admit that.

First off, none of those policies I showed were even remotely economical in nature. They were all about Hitler taking control of the public sector so that he could enforce whatever edicts he wanted, including the extermination of jews, Eugenics.
Second, none of them were good.

Think about it.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Actually, Canada is moving more towards a health care system like ours because too many people cannot get the aid they need in the public sector so they are paying for privatized health care.
CDubSD 2 years ago
Funny, I haven't heard any clamoring from our northern neighbors about wanting American's health care system. But if it's true they'll get it done. After all, they're a democracy, right? Email me back when they do this. If their system is so despised it shouldn't take but a few months. Are you holding your breath?
ginchinchili 2 years ago
I'm not saying our healthcare system is fantastic as it is now. It simply needs to be regulated so insurance companies can't screw clients out of their claims and so that tort reform will allow doctors to do their job without getting sued for "pain and suffering" when its not legitimate. The public healthcare plan will only drive the income tax up in order to compensate, which means more of my tax dollars will go to people who don't get a job themselves.
CDubSD 2 years ago 2
If the Republicans are so great, why didn't they do anything about our health care disaster when they had the chance? They didn't even discuss it when they were in power. Do you realize that our system is the only health care system in the industrialized world that doesn't cover everyone and yet it is by far the most expensive? And do you really expect the Republicans, who get millions of dollars from the insurance industry, to clamp down on the insurance industry in a significant way?
ginchinchili 2 years ago
You need to look into the reason things are the way you're saying. I'll help you ... the Government is the cause.

jpeditor 2 years ago
What health care disaster?
TheLastBrainLeft 2 years ago
Of all the industrialized nations we spend by far the most on our health care system per capita and cover the smallest percentage. There are nearly 50 uninsured Americans (2x the pop. of Iraq, who get theirs free)and millions more under-insured. Unaffordable health care is the #1 reason for bankruptcies in the US. Medicaid and Medicare are going broke. And with all this going on, our health care costs are continuing to increase. But if you have to ask, I doubt you'll understand any explanation.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Your explanation is filled with easily accessible and mostly incorrect "facts" any idiot who can use google can regurgitate.
TheLastBrainLeft 2 years ago
@TheLastBrainLeft

The Reps prefer that we don't veer from our current collision course.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Actually Canada is not a democracy - it is a constitutional monarchy - and between the usurpation of power by the judicial system and the constant powerless minority governments holding office, the entire Canadian system of government has pretty much ground to a halt.
Harbinger343 2 years ago
Why do you think that?
Look at several countries in Europe where left parties are swept away everywhere, while rightwing parties are on the march.
In the Netherlands for example the socialist PvdA had 23,4% of the votes in council elections, at the moment not even 9% of the Dutch people want to vote for them. The rightwing PVV is in the biggest predicted party at the moment. It's not only in the United States, leftists are hasbeens everywhere. We now see through their cheap populism.
marsnr1 2 years ago
You're demonstrating the Rightwing's ignorance on Europe. Sure, most European countries that don't want a socialist government. I don't either. I don't know any Democrat who wants the US to become socialist. Duh! But the rightwing parties in Europe are more like moderate Democrats are here. The Nazis cured Europe of wanting far right politics. And I doubt that you'll find any of those European political parties running on dismantling their health care systems. Obama's popular in Europe.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
The rightwing parties at least in the Netherlands become more conservative parties: we want our mental freedom back!
marsnr1 2 years ago
The Nazis were fascists in over-drive.
Communism is associated with leftist ideology and fascism is associated with the right. You shouldn't try to change facts just because you don't like them--a typical Republican approach.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
@ginchinchili History reads that way because American fascists didn't want to be connected to the barbarism of the Third Reich. But in practice and theory, both ideologies wanted the exact same thing: the eradication of individuality and the rise of a powerful, central state. They all wanted control from Lenin and Hitler straight to Castro and Mao and so forth.
ishmaelx2003 2 years ago
Huey P. Long once said that if fascism ever came to America it would call itself anti-fascist. Progressives turn to government for answers because there's no where else to turn. Pull government out of the mix and corporations take over. Corporations don't have our best interests at heart, as demonstrated by the abuse perpetrated on the Middle Class by the insurance industry, and the Republicans have done everything in their power to protect the status quo, which is destroying the Middle Class.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
lol that has nothing to do with "Republican approach".
Whole books have been written why the national-SOCIALISM was a "left" organisation. Both Hitler as Mussolini were active in socialists movement btw. Mussolini even had a whole career in the socialist party before forming the fascist party.
Also I"m Dutch, so I'm not really into american politics, it's okay if you call my approach "republican" but I'm not a real republican.
marsnr1 2 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show
I assume you're referring to this statement: "You shouldn't try to change facts just because you don't like them--a typical Republican approach." That's exactly their approach. For example, one of their primary talking points against the current healthcare proposal is that it will produce death panels where bureaucrats would be deciding if grandma is going to live or die. It's a complete lie, but the Repubs used it in their arguments over and over again.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Another example is when Joe Wilson meretricious shouted during Obama's first address to Congress, "You lie!" (Demonstrating Republicans lack of respect for America's honored institutions.) Wilson's remark was made following Obama's contention that the healthcare bill would not cover illegal aliens. Indeed, the bill contained language that specified that coverage would not be extended to illegal aliens. That fact didn't stop Repub supporters from donating millions to Wilson's reelection campaign.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
I think this is meant as a response to a different person?
marsnr1 2 years ago
Both of the above responses are directed to you, likewise the following 2. Why would you think otherwise? They are in direct response to your comments. I'm giving examples of how the Repubs ignore truth in favor of lies that promote their ideology, how fascism is a rightwing ideology and how you can see fascist characteristics in today's Republican Party. They use nationalism to concentrate power. They work in tandem with industry for greater control. Their ideology is inherently racist, etc.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
What is wrong with nationalism? And why is nationalism rightwing? Communist countries are also nationalistic so it cannot be part of the right/left discussion.
Nationalism is the foundation in every society, it holds countries together, and it's an important power against all kinds of ngo's who want power without anyone "backing them up'...well beside the government money ofcourse...which means governments are talking with organisations paid by them....that's international politics nowadays.
marsnr1 2 years ago
Again, I'm trying to show you that today's Rep Party promotes an ideology with much in common w/fascism. Nothing wrong w/nationalism until it is used to manipulate people. For example, the Reps have taken to accusing others of being unpatriotic or anti-American when they speak out against Repub policies. They did this when Bush and the Repubs were trying to cajole the the nation into invading Iraq. It's the worst kind of abuse of nationalism. Very fascist in nature.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Terms like "unpatriotic" are ofcourse abused by politicians. But the same counts for terms like "progressive" and "helping poor" and "internatinalism" . You must always think for yourself and I personly think the Democrats abuse minorities by giving money to all kinds of "do good" organisations. They buy support. They abuse minorities to get their votes but don't have a real view on society.
marsnr1 2 years ago
We are talking about Repub ideology having similarities to fascism. Terms like progressive, helping poor & internationalism have nothing to do w/fascism. Publicly accusing someone of being unpatriotic because they don't agree w/your views is typical of fascist ideology--using nationalism to manipulate the masses.
96% of African Americans vote Dem. Are you suggesting that they're abusing themselves? Or are you suggesting that they can't think for themselves? I've wasted enough time with you.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
yes, terms like "progressive" "helping poor" and "workining together / internationalism" or all terms abused to put yourself as good, and the other one as bad. Accusing the other one of fascism is the same...saying the others are bad. That empty rhetoric is not really intellectual. Think for yourself, please.
And look at the way you are accuse me of something I don't say.. so childish.....to be honest....I could almst say your way of argueing is truely "fascistic".
marsnr1 2 years ago
@ginchinchili
Floormat11 2 years ago
Since you're "not really into American politics" then perhaps you should ask questions rather than make assertions about areas that you don't know about. I've had to put up with this crap all of my 53 years. Fascism is an extreme rightwing ideology that is very much tied to rabid nationalism, racism (Repub's are 99% white Christians) and culvates close working relationships between industry and government. If you don't think that evinces the Republican Party then you don't know them very well.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Fascism is not right wing, it's a leftists anti-democratic ideology, just like communism.
Nationalism has nothing to do with "left"or "right", both Stalin and Mao were extremely nationalistic, were they right or left? And if a political party excists of a lot of white people, they are racists? You don't believe that yourself I hope. Close working relationship between industry and government is part of communism as well. The state even dictates how much companies will procude in those systems.
marsnr1 2 years ago
Like I said, just because you don't like the truth doesn't mean you can change it:
fascism [ˈfæʃɪzəm]
1. any ideology or movement inspired by Italian Fascism, such as German National Socialism; any right-wing nationalist ideology or movement with an authoritarian and hierarchical structure that is fundamentally opposed to democracy and liberalism
2. any ideology, movement, programme, tendency, etc., that may be characterized as right-wing, chauvinist, authoritarian, etc.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
lol quoting a definition and that proves your point......while I give the arguments to prove that fascism isn't right wing but part of the socialist family, like communism , like national socialism. Look at the definition you give yourself and you must see yourself that you also put that definition on communist government. That means the definition isn't good. Do you know what the slogan was of the Dutch national-socialist? "Together against capitalism" / Samen tegen het kapitalisme. Rightwing?
marsnr1 2 years ago
I'm trying to show you that fascism is a rightwing ideology. It is. It's not a debatable point. Since you ignore the truth, I decided to send you the definition. So now you're arguing that the definition is wrong and you're right. LOL...what more can I do? You might as well argue that the world is flat. I could send you a passage stating that it's not flat from an encyclopedia or an astronomy book and you'd still insist you're right. Like I said, if the truth is inconvenient, Repubs ignore it.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
@ginchinchili
Floormat11 2 years ago
Your post is so ignorant on the facts that it would just be a waste of time arguing with you. Look up the definition of fascism yourself. Then look up the definition of liberalism. Your BS may play well on this board, but it has no foundation in reality. Fascism is about control using corporations facilitating that control. Who, for example, is working with the insurance industry to stop Dems from establishing a public insurance option that would force insurance companies to lower premiums?
ginchinchili 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli
Wait...it's GW Bush...huh?!!!
Floormat11 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli
Which ideology touts LESS gov't?!!!
Floormat11 2 years ago
You just aren't smart enough to waste time debating. You can't even understand the definition of fascism when it's right there in front of your face. It's wrong and you're right...LOL. You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts. You're also claiming that labor unions are a tool for, what, fascists? That's just ignorant. Unions are a big part of what created the great American middle class. You rightwingers need to quit relying so much on the notes on your hand and lean to think.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli said: You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.
Which facts were wrong? WHICH political party touts MORE gov't control? Or better yet...what fascist ideology or action is touted by the Repubs?
I'm NOT claiming labor unions are a tool. I stated that FASCIST Germany embraced a unionized labor force that, in turn, embraced gov't control. A union can only ALLOW itself to become a tool.
Now, WHICH party caters to the UNIONS?
Floormat11 2 years ago
Well, floormat, you got me there. The Dems support the unions so obviously the Dems are fascist....lol You're so clueless it's scary. I live in Miss where unions have no power. Mississippians also make the lowest pay per capita than any other state, i.e., the poorest state in the union. It's also a state primarily run by Repubs...hmmm...suppose there's a connection between these 3 facts? Yes, I know, it's the Democrats' fault. What a chump. Give it up. You're hopelessly dumb.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli
Floormat11 2 years ago
You haven't addressed one charge I've presented here in a dozen or so posts, except my assertion that fascism is a rightwing ideology and that there are many similarities between fascism and the Repub Party, and there's no sense discussing that when you can't admit that fascism is a rightwing ideology, even after I post the definition. I learned that in political science 101. It's obviously a class you missed. It's a fact. You might as well argue that the world if flat. You're mind is shut.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli

I stated that they had a lot of characteristics in common.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Take the 1st part of that: exalts nation & often race above the individual. The Repubs are always using patriotism as a weapon against the Dems as if the Repubs are more patriotic. They arent. When Bush was cajoling the nation into invading Iraq Repubs accused any Dem of being unpatriotic and even anti-American if they even questioned Bush (part of Congresss job). They carry signs depicting Obama as Hitler.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Even Palin recently suggested that war can be used for political gain, as in playing the war card. The very mention of it is frightening. So the Repubs like to wave the flag and claim that they are the patriotic party, which is ridiculous considering that the Dem Congressmen had more sons serving in the military than the Repubs in Iraq.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Both Bush and Cheney squirmed their way out of serving in Vietnam then had the audacity to suggest that Kerrys service to our nation was somehow dishonorable, as they disgracefully did w/Max Cleland, and man who sacrificed his limbs to serve our country while Bush and Cheney were over here living it up. Disgraceful. It should be no surprise to you that the Repub Party is 98% white. Do you think its a coincidence?
ginchinchili 2 years ago
The South used to be a solid voting block for the Dems until the Dems faced up to the difficult truth that we were not living up to the ideals set forth by our Founding Fathers in the Dec of Indep & our Constitution. So the Dems pushed the civil rights laws through Congress without the help of the Repubs and, what were then called the Dixiecrats. After that the South veer to the hard right because the Repubs were a Party who would side with them against rights for minorities.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Yes, nationalism and race above individual rights. What Party wants a Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage and have fought against gay rights throughout the country? Repubs dont even want to allow gays the right to fight for their country. Crazy. What Party is so ardently against the legalization of marijuana? Even after Oregon and Calif passed laws allowing pot used for medicinal purposes, the Bush admin threatened to trump states rights with federal law enforcement.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Did you know that there are still dry counties in the US, where you cant buy alcohol & in some case you cant even possess it? They are all conservative counties. Which Party prevent us from buying cheaper prescription drugs from Canada? The Repubs. Why? Because the pharmaceutical companies are filling their pockets with cash to prevent that from happening because it would cut into their profits. These are drugs that are made in the US!
ginchinchili 2 years ago
There are Repubs who even are insisting that creationism be taught in public school even though there is no scientific grounds for it. Its an example of them using government to force their religious beliefs on the public. That belongs in the church where people can freely choose which church they want to attend, or none at all. Do you remember the Terri Schiavo case in Florida. That was perhaps the most egregious example of Repub abuse of power.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
They actually passed a law to interfere in a single, individual matter, a law that would effect no on but the Schiavos family! That is not the American way. The husband had spent years trying medical and therapeutic procedures to help his braindead wife. Finally, he took her out to Calif to a doctor who took an MRI of her brain and showed the husband that there was nothing there.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
According to Florida law, the spouse of someone in a catatonic state like Terry Schiavo who could not live w/o the help of machines could determine whether or not to stop the mechanisms that are keeping the spouse alive. After 10 years Terrys husband finally decided to carry out his wifes wishes and let her die—AND THE REPUBS HAD THE NERVE TO USE THE CASE FOR POLITICAL GAIN. Shame on them.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
So much for individual rights. The Repubs are only for individual rights when it pleases them and works for them politically. And rather than work within the Democratic system designed by our Founding Fathers, the Repubs are now doing everything within their power, often abusing that power, to prevent the majority Party and a Democratically elected American President from accomplishing ANYTHING.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
The only act of Obamas that they supported—and they criticized him for this as well—was escalating the war in Afghanistan. Those Repubs just cant resist a good war, just as long as they dont have to do the fighting. To be fair, neither Party is autocratic, though the Repubs refuse to share power with the Dems. They want nothing to do with bipartisanism and theyve made that clear.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
The Dems at least try to work with the Repubs and did so quite a bit during Bushs presidency. But neither is autocratic nor does either party have an absolute ruler. Not yet, anyway, though it wouldnt surprise me if one day a strong charismatic Repub insisted that in order to take back our country from the certain destruction of liberal influences (what Hitler did)
ginchinchili 2 years ago
they would have to temporarily curtail some civil liberties, e.g., wire tapping our phones, banning the right to assemble w/o gov approval, etc. & folks like yourself would be all for it, in the name of patriotism.
Lets be clear, the Dems arent trying to take over any industry. They did follow up on Bushs lead of pumping money into the major banks. But instead of just giving them money, the gov bought major shares of these banks and kept them, and the world economy from complete collapse.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
But they didnt take over the banks and start running them. The Repubs dont do this either, however, both the Reps and the Dems accept contributions for major industries in return for legislation that is favorable to those industries. At least the Dems want to change that dynamic, but the Repubs wont have it. Take the healthcare bill. The Repubs like to claim that the Dems are trying to take over the health care industry. This scares people, though its not true.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
They do want to offer a public option that would compete with insurance companies forcing them to lower their rates. This would hurt insurance company profits, but would be a great help to the American middle class. The insurance companies have backed the Repubs with some heavy cash and the Repubs, in lockstep, have prevented the Dems from helping the middle class once again.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
I could go on for hours, but this venue is not very conducive for this type of discussion. Besides, I know youll ignore everything anyway. Its just a shame that the Repubs are willing to sacrifice the best interests of our country simply because they want things their way only. Theyre not willing to compromise one iota (unless it means more war).Theyre selfish, narrow-minded, dishonest, abusive, greedy, anti-Democratic, and dangerous to our Republic as envisioned by our Founding Fathers.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
They are hell bent on dividing our country for want of power. It will bring down our country, make no mistake about. When someone like Rush Limbaugh accuses our president of assisting the terrorists to harm our country and millions believe it, that's unAmerican and dangerous to the best interests of our nation. And make no mistake, nothing would make the Repubs happier than for there to be another terrorist attack on Obamas watch. When this happened on Bush's watch, the Dems rallied around Bush
ginchinchili 2 years ago
But if it happens on Obama's watch, don't expect the same act of patriotism from the Repubs. They will use the event for political gain at our nation's expense. And that's a promise. I don't see how any thinking American can align themselves with the Republican Party.

Such a shame...
LOWER taxes...LESS gov't...STRONG defense...INDIVIDUAL freedom...etc
Those selfish REPs bastards!!!
Floormat11 2 years ago 2
@ginchinchilli
Fair? NOT!
Floormat11 2 years ago
@gichinchilli
Floormat11 2 years ago
@ginchinchili So When Gingrich and the Republicans took the House in 94 it wasn't scare tactics to say the were trying to starve the children and senior citizens? The fact is they weren't, but the Democrats and their stooges, the media intentionally misrepresented it.
scuzoid74 2 years ago
@ginchinchili This is different. There are 2 ways to take over something. The first is to take ownership away from the owners, and you're correct, this hasn't happened. But the second way is to regulate it to the extent that you control it without formal ownership. This HAS happened. It isn't scare tactics, but FACT.
scuzoid74 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli
Floormat11 2 years ago
@ginchinchill
Floormat11 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli:
You wanna talk war stats or body counts?
(D) prez =WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Kosovo...over 2 million dead.
(R) prez = Gulf, Iraq...4,500 dead!
Yup, them (R)s sure love a good war!!
Floormat11 2 years ago
That is one of the most cynical ignorant arguments I've heard from Repubs, & there have been many. Tell that to the families of those losing loved ones in Iraq. Obviously you'd never served or you wouldn't make such a comment. What about the 100,000 innocent Iraqis killed? I suppose they don't count because they're rag heads, eh? The war was built on lies and was unnecessary. Now we've made Iran, a REAL threat, a much more powerful enemy and have give Al Qaeda another country to work out of.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
I've had enough. From this point on you're talking to yourself. You hate democracy and want Repubs to take over and rule 100% at any cost. That's the bottom line. That's too bad for you and too bad for this country.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli
I SERVED 22 YEARS, Sir!!
Floormat11 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli said: And rather than work within the Democratic system designed by our Founding Fathers...
What school did you get you "poli-sci" teaching? You should get a refund!!
The country is a representative REPUBLIC with a FEDERALIZED union of SOVEREIGN states. This country IS NOT a DEMOCRACY.
Secondly...The (D)s have a SUPERMAJORITY. The (R)s have control of NOTHING!! How are they stopping ANYTHING? They are powerless!!
Floormat11 2 years ago
Again, you just aren't smart enough. I learned American history AND I learned how to read, unlike you, because if you could read you would see that I didn't state that we are a democracy. I said that we have a democratic system designed by our FF. Recall Bush's "spreadin' democracy'? If you had a brain you'd know the difference. The Dems no longer have a supermajority, but you miss the point. Dems have a majority. Repubs should respect that. All it would take is one Repub willing to work w/Dems
ginchinchili 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli
cont': The (D) party of JFK is hardly what it is today...neither is the (R) party of Reagan.
So which party seeks greater gov't CONTROL?
Floormat11 2 years ago
Which Party wants to do away with labor unions, organizations formed to protect the rights of working Americans and hated by corporate America? Yes, it's about control. Repubs just don't like American democracy. They are preverting our system to prevent a popularly elected president from accomplishing ANYTHING. They filibuster bills then turn around and vote for them. Sen Shelby is holding up all of Obama's appointees until he gets a big helping of pork of his state, Alabama. Wake up!
ginchinchili 2 years ago
@ginchinchilli
Floormat11 2 years ago
Do you think it's just coincidence that the Repub Party is made up of 99% white heterosexual Christians and that almost all other races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations--let's just say almost all other people--along with a lot of white heterosexual Christians/non-Christians are Dems? Can you really be so naive? Do you not know that the US south used to vote almost entirely Democratic? Why do you think they've switched to the Repub Party during the civil rights movement in the '60s?
ginchinchili 2 years ago
So what do you have against white heterosexual Christians? Shouldn't your critics on the Republicans be more fundamental?
You're in discussion with a gay man btw, and I'm more rightwing because I believe conservatism gives individual freedom to people. And freedom with a responsability to society. And that responsability does not come from government rules, it comes from within. Seeing yourself part of society and contributing to it to your personal skill.
marsnr1 2 years ago
Why do you even suggest that I have something against white heterosexual Christians? I don't, nor did I state anything that should make you think that. My point is obvious. The Repub Party is very homogeneous, which is another distinct characteristic of fascism. There's nothing wrong with homogeneity in itself, but the Repub Party is homogeneous because they are not open minded toward others who are different from themselves, and that is wrong. As I said, they are not homogeneous by coincidence.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
So in reaction to a youtube vlog by a black conservative woman and in discussion with a gay conservative man, you're stating that the Republican Party is homonogeneious because they are not open minded. lol
You must realize yourself that that is funny don't you?
marsnr1 2 years ago
Prove to me that a significant percentage of gays & black Americans vote Repub, I'll apologize & admit I'm wrong, but you might as well be proving the world is flat.
ginchinchili 2 years ago
Lol, like she is the black person who is a conservative, and I"m the only gay person who is a conservative. Why is it important how many gays or black people vote Republican? sigh......
What does that prove? I"m sorry I really an argument with someone who can argue better.

Wow LedOutMan ! You say Sonja is only telling one side of the story? Other then Fox, what network ,NBC,CBS or ABC has ever told both sides of the story ? Liberals automatically think their way is the only way. Sonja rocks !
mickyblue247 2 years ago 3
no i can agree with that comment. but that is not what she said. and we cannot judge that for certain, after all we don't know Hillary.
unfortunatley sonja is not doing a real reporters job, which is to tell both sides of the story objectively. unfortunaly she has only stated one quite subjectively
that is tabloid reporting not journalism
i can agree about the rest of american media and news, it seems more like nonsensical ranting than good journalism.
LedOutMan 2 years ago
Sonja is a beautiful person. She is a no nonsense reporter who should be emulated by some of the other brainless talking heads on the major networks. Pert Katie Couric could take lessons from her.
francoamerican111 2 years ago 4
"Letoutman" says Sonja is talking tabloid as we hear her talking about those tabloids, so is she is conderdictive? hardly the truth! Sonja brings facts, places common sense right next to those facts. thinking for herself and not follow to the woodstock drums! everyone saw HILLARY ride Bills coat-tails. does Hillary seem like a woman who takes shxx from any man? well, thats only 1 example of Sonja's reports. she's far different than any!
beyondalohas 2 years ago
So what she is saying is, Hillary shouldn't be a role model, because, her husband cheated on her and barbara should be because hers didn't?
I believe forgiveness is a virtue, and to have the courage and strength to forgive your husband, is something to look up to.
Besides, i can't see one woman who wouldn't be angry at another, if she slept with her husband.
This is tabloid, she's simply preaching her opinion, and not stating the facts on the issue.
Just the biased way that she sees it.
LedOutMan 2 years ago
What she should have said is that Hillary stayed with Bill because she had her eye on the presidency. That is the only reason Hillary stayed with Bill. Do you really think she would have stayed with him if he was a nobody?
