  • Omg I got thirsty too

  • after this video i got way thirsty...:)

but interesting video! thanks! i thought i was just doing a bad job but it seems as if it is the water itself! thanks!:)

  • it doesnt matter if you use different types of polish. they do however have to be new.

  • wats filtered water from

  • Bottled ....filtered...in the U.S., are you talking about "distilled water?"

  • i use tap but it works just as well as bottled water... im confused

  • what is filtered water?? sorry im only 10

  • I don't understand filtered water. How can you filter water?

  • Lol mine always looks like the glass at the back xD

  • this makes me not want to drink bottle water

  • @yiingyiin its neither of those! Just use bottled water(:

  • @yiingyiin u dont low wat filted water is!!!!

  • may i know wat is the meaning of filtered water?is it drinking water tat have been boiled or nt boil?

  • I found out if you just shake the glass or bowl or whatever you're using the polish will spread.my last drops are like the drops on the tap water so i shake it and it spreads nicely!! :)

  • Thank you!!!! This helped me!! This entire time I've been using tap water! No wonder it didn't work! Thanks!

  • so that's interesting ;)! great vid, you have lovely nails :) xxx

  • umm.whaat is room teaperature ? is the water supposed to be hot.cold.or warm?

  • @Mr022075 Warm

  • @Mr022075 Its what it says it is, get a bottle of cold water and leave it in a room about an hour, thats room temperature haha xxx

  • helllooo there!! =D

  • This is a cool reaction:)

  • do you have to do this process for every nail ?

  • Wow, thanks for this video! I always used tap water and wondered, why it doesn't spread out :D I'll try it again with bottled water :)

  • how can i get flitered water !

  • Just tried my first marbleing (sp?) I can't believe it was a disaster - as i'm such a nail geek and usually good at nail geekery ;) - the polish didn't spread - staying in one blob in the centre of my bowl. Just went into a blob on my nail when I dipped it in - gutted!!

And the taping up was such a faff!!! I'm a bit anal about how neat my cuticles are and I just couldn't get it neat around the nail edges - can you help at all with any tips please?!

  • @duffyellie Have you seen my howto video on my homepage?

  • @ilovemylongnails Yes - I followed the instructions - I used room temp bottled water - but some of the colours just didn't spread out and when I tried to move them with a cocktail stick it was like they had already started to dry.....

  • @duffyellie I use filtered water now. It is better. The trick is to drop the polish quickly. This does take a lot of practise. Don't give up!

  • @duffyellie Stop any sources of moving air. Air conditioning, open windows, drafty windows, fans, etc . . . the moving air will cause the polish to dry too fast. As for the experiment, I prefer the tap water and keeping the rings smaller and more concise. I use less polish because I don't need to create as many rings to get a good covering on my nail. The outer ring serves more as a holder and I work only with the inner rings.

  • @duffyellie not all nail polish works! try other nail polish

  • @duffyellie sometimes, it is the brand of polish. for me i need to use brand new polish which hasn't been opened, maybe opened once that's all. x

  • @duffyellie i know what you mean. that is exactly what happened to me. The nail polish wouldn't spread. There are other ways to marble nails without water. You should youtube search it. It actually works much better.

  • @duffyellie You also have to work with similar nail polishes... they all have to be like liquid, the newer the better, and try to use for example only OPI, or only Sally Hansen, cuz every polish has a different density. Also, don't let a huge drop of polish fall into the water, because it won't spread and it will end at the bottom. Speed is key too.

Finaly, for the clean up part, use a common flat paint brush with pure acetone to clean your cuticles. (then you'll need hand cream!) Good luck

  • What about distilled?

  • I always use bottled water and find that it works just fine. :) Also, as far as brands go, it seems to not really matter. I have some from the same brand but different colors and they each work differently in the water...it seems to be that each polish has a life of its own in the water..haha My process is trial and error...just try them and see which ones work the best for you. :)

  • I have just tried water marbling for the first time today and tried tap water and it failed BIG time,( hard water area) will try bottled water next time as I haven't got a water filter.

  • @spuffspuffs Good luck! You will notice a big difference!

  • Is there a certain brand thats best for water marbling?

Because i tried an OPI nail polish, that didn't spread out.

But, my China Glaze nail polish that did.

  • @makeupstarful They should all work really. OPI never fails for me. It's all about experimenting

  • very interesting experiment!!I have always thought that it was me, that was incapable of doing marble technique on my nails!!i 've always used tap water!!

  • Good information. Thank you.

  • Great video very interesting and helpful, more experiments please x

  • thanks so much ; I always thought I was doing it wrong because it wouldnt spread ; but i was using bottled water . I'll be using filtered from now on :)

  • AWSOME...AS ALWAYS!!!

  • Damm what a difference...TFS

  • I dont really get that filtered water..you buy that in bottles?

  • @acjub No. Have a look at the Brita dot com website for all the options! I use a jug from the fridge.

  • thats y I couldnt get it to work... Great video!

  • Interesting video - not something Ive even thought of before - thanks so much for doing this video !! x

  • whoa I like it! :) so i guess filtered water shows best results..

do more experiments like temperature ones :))

  • after this i don't think i'll ever drink tap water without boiling it first XD

  • This is a great video you should also see which one shapes better when you are doing the design. Thanks for the video!

  • I like that green .

  • I'm so glad you did this because I've been wondering about this myself :)

  • Woooah, I have always heard everyone say use filtered water, but I always used tap because that was easiest, and I thought I was always doing it wrong because the polish would barely spread! Thanks for this experiment ... looks like I am going to get a water filter jug. :)

  • @elouise73

    No problem ;-)

  • Very interesting!

But... I'm italian, so, maybe for everyone the word "filtered water" is obvious, for me not... How can I get filtered water?

    Thank you!

  • @illhelpMiffy

Have a look on the Brita website. I think it's international.

  • @ilovemylongnails thank you! I understood what it is! ^^

  • @illhelpMiffy go to brita dot it. In many parts of Italy, running water is already filtered,

  • Excellent video, thanks...

  • I Lovee This !

  • I Lovee Thiss!

  • thank you for the experiment !

  • Thanks for the comparism.

  • Interesting results :) Maybe you can do another experiment with different temperatures. Great video!

  • @sorayagaafar
