He has got alot of different types of albums and some are pure shred fest , some are so melodic they can makke you cry , some are heavy as shit and some are just pure rock with super cathcy riffs.
Before saying that he sucks make sure you have heard everything by him.

search youtube for any paul gilbert instructional videos, look how he holds the pick - everyones hands kinda lock up and look arthritisey when they alternate pick at great speeds to ensure accuracy - compare hands. - plus i've heard buckethead play the exact same runs and licks taught in many of gilberts instructional videos whilst improvising solos - I'm not talking about standard exercises - I'm talking trademark licks. - same guy -
Buckethead is without a doubt Paul Gilbert. The way he holds a pick when shredding makes a certain noise that he can't hide. Vai plays too cleanly to hear unwanted pick noises and Slash doesn't shred (he's in a different class of player)... Malmsteens hands are too fat and he's too one-dimensional... and it isn't any of the other mainstream shredders either - Satriani, Petrucci, Romeo, Battio, etc... bucket puts out something like 5 cd's a year while slash puts all his efforts into a few albums every couple years or so;he should put out more solo stuff like "obsession confession",then again he might simply not have the same work ethic bucket does.if you've heard "too many humans","the andriod of notre dame",or "thai fighter swarm" and are talkin smack,the wool's still over your eyes.

if all you've heard of him is "colma","monsters and robots","enter the chicken",or the c2b3 album you haven't heard jack shit;not that those albums aren't great,it's just that most only hear those and judge him by that work.slash is awesome too,but compare him post-gnr stuff(snakepit,revolver)and there really is no question that even his best solo from those bands isn't as diverse as the best solo bucket's come up with in the same 10 year period.

Why do we always have to build one person up at the expense of others, they're all FUCKING BRILLIANT! As this is a BH post I really find his playing genius, the incredible technique is readily apparent but his diverse style and composition is so eclectic and sublime.

And there were a thousand posts on how one was so much better than the other. Do you think Dime or Kerry gave two tugs of a dead dog's dick what these people think? I love bucketheads music, and the only reason people don't appreciate his music is because they have a very shallow taste in music, and dimebag and buckethead are two very different guitarists. they are both very good at different things, you can't say dimebag is better than buckethead just because you don't like his music. you might think it's boring, well then it's obviously not your taste in music, so really, you don't have a right to say anything

Alexi Laiho is one of the dodgiest guitarist i've heard. From what i've seen HE'S overrated. If you believe Buckethead is crap then i think you need to attempt some of those things in the video.
The guy took lessons from Paul Gilbert and alot of his technique comes from PG so if you call him crap and then say PG can outplay him you're sort of digging a hole.
